IBM® Rational® Asset Analyzer scans mainframe and distributed software assets on Microsoft® Windows systems, storing related application information in an IBM DB2® repository that resides on the system.
Rational Asset Analyzer supports scanning from IBM Rational ClearCase®, CVS, and PVCS for distributed artifacts or scanning from Windows directories for any asset type.
You can scan Web applications from IBM WebSphere® Application Servers running on Windows. Along with your application source, Rational Asset Analyzer scans WebSphere Application Server domains.
Rational Asset Analyzer consists of the following components:
Source scanners running on Windows
Metadata repository in DB2 on Windows
Web applications running on Windows
Rational Asset Analyzer has an open architecture that offers:
Interactive, Web browser-based access to Rational Asset Analyzer insight
Programmatic access through direct SQL queries, a Web service API, or a URL-based API
Access through a RESTful interface
Application customization to meet your unique requirements through custom query facility, group bookmarks, and configuration of displayable metrics and statistics
Rational Asset Analyzer helps analysts, developers, architects, and operations teams cut through the complexity of their applications and interdependencies to work faster and with better quality. It can help you to:
View a wealth of information about application assets at a glance with the ability to drill down to the desired level of detail
Understand MVS and Java™ Enterprise Edition (Java EE) application assets and their relationships through interactive textual and graphical reports
Identify the artifacts that a proposed code or operational change affects and make changes with more confidence, greater speed, and less risk
Identify information about connectors for Web-enabled applications
Identify business processes and flows
Identify application dependencies at multiple levels, including jobs and transactions; files and databases; programs and applications written in COBOL, PL/I, Java EE, and various distributed text formats including HTML and XML; and composite applications that span mainframe and distributed systems
Includes significant enhancements with 7.5.1 Fixpack.
The enhanced v5.5 (5.5.1) fixpack of Rational Asset Analyzer, now integrates with the enhanced version of Rational Developer for System z v7.6. The new capabilities include:Reduce developer's time needed to understand impact and make the changes in complex applications by integrating understanding with the IDe; Allowing developers to work in context of heterogenous artifacts across the whole enterprise:
Scanning of files in local workspace IDE projects into a local RAA repository
Search for Programs and Data Elements in local and remote RAA repositories
View local and remote programs in IDE context
A tree view showing the components that make up the program broken down by component type.
