This presentation reviews the components
of a Web application, the WebFacing Tool
and how it is packaged, how the WebFacing
Tool development time and runtime works
and
the steps to Web-enable a 5250 application
using the WebFacing Tool.
Introduction to the IBM WebFacing Tool
In this tutorial, the user will use the IBM WebFacing Tool to create Web front ends to iSeries applications that use DDS for their green-screen transactions. You will choose a Web style for your green-screen application, generate a set of JSP and XML files that interact with the logic of your program, and then easily test your application in the WebSphereŽ test environment of the workbench. When you are ready to deploy your application, you can generate standard J2EE WAR and EAR files that can be installed on a WebSphere Application Server.
The IBM WebFacing Tool: Converting 5250 Applications
to Browser-Based GUIs
This redbook explains how the application
conversion works and how you can customize
your Web interface. It explains how to work
with JavaServer Pages and cascading style
sheets. It also offers helpful performance
considerations and troubleshooting tips.
Plus it looks at how to deploy WebFaced applications
to Apache Tomcat.
Understanding the IBM WebFacing Tour - A
Guided Tour by Claus Weiss and Emily Bruner This book, the first in the IBM Press Guided
Tour series, describes how to get started
with the IBM WebFacing Tool and how
to make progress with WebFacing efforts.
The systematic approach presented takes
readers through converting a sample
green-screen application using IBM WebSphere
Development Studio Client. It also demonstrates
how to use the different features in the
tool to enhance the application after the
initial conversion.
