The IBM Rational Developer for i is a new eclipse-based workstation offering for IBM i (i5/OS) application development.
It provides an integrated development environment (IDE) for creating IBM i RPG, COBOL, and CL-based applications. The product is based on the latest Eclipse 3.4.1 level.

- Supports the latest version of the IBM i (i5/OS) operating system, Version 6.1
- IBM® Application Diagram provides a graphical view of the different resources in an IBM i (i5/OS) native application and their relationships to each other
- Screen Designer is a technical preview that provides the capability to graphically design and modify the content of DDS display files.
- Helps ease application debugging processes
- Includes many capabilities previously only found in the WebSphere Development Studio Advanced Edition.
- Requires significantly less disk and memory
- The IBM Rational Team Concert for i client is shipped as a billable, installable component of IBM Rational Developer for i. To use the Rational Team Concert for i functionality for team collaboration and managing RPG and COBOL applications, IBM Rational Developer for i V7.5 should be purchased with IBM Rational Team Concert for i.
