COBOL for AIX, V3.1 is a productive and powerful development environment for building COBOL applications.
It includes a COBOL compiler, a COBOL library, and a debugger for the AIX operating system. The debugger shipped with the product allows you to visually debug programs running locally, remotely, or in a client-server environment. COBOL for AIX, V3.1 provides:
- 32-bit and 64-bit application development
- Support for files larger than 2 GB
- New runtime option, FILEMODE, to specify a small format for STL and VSAM files for compatibility with COBOL for AIX V2
- Enhancements to XML GENERATE statement that give you more flexibility and control over the form of the XML document that is generated
- Enhancements to the XML PARSE statement with support for parsing of XML documents encoded in UTF-8 Unicode
- Additional national (UTF-16 Unicode) data types
- Additional Unicode features
- An enhanced level of the IBM Debugger for AIX
