Features and benefits
What's New in V10.1:
Follow the link to learn about the many new enhancements in Application Performance Analyzer for z/OS V10.1.
Application Performance Analyzer for z/OS® provides numerous technology and business benefits:
Provides easy-to-use function that helps isolate application performance problems
Helps pinpoint performance bottlenecks affecting online transaction response times
Assists in reducing batch-application turnaround time
Supports Assembler, C/C++, CICS, COBOL, DB2, IMS, Java, PL/I, WebSphere MQ and WebSphere Application Server
Increases application understanding during stress and regression testing
Shares side files with Fault Analyzer and Debug tool, and Supports C/C++ ELF and DWARF side files.
Key features include:
Online analysis: Displays overall system activity, enabling you to check job execution online and select which active job to monitor.
DB2® analysis: Delivers the relevant information for DB2 performance analysis and tuning, including SQL statements and CPU utilization by SQL statement. Monitoring: Automatically starts to monitor job performance when the job or program becomes active for as many times as you specify. You can specify monitoring DB2, IMS™, MQ, and CICS® in combination. In addition, you can select how long to monitor and the number of samples to be taken. Application Performance Analyzer for z/OS also has a batch command interface for monitoring invocation programmatically.
Reports: Provides multiple summary reports to assist you in identifying key areas of performance bottlenecks to analyze. All of the analysis data is available in printed reports, which can be created as an Adobe PDF file or as an XML file for further processing.
Performance analysis: Provides you with CPU usage by procedure, referred attribution, wait time by task, category and module, as well as multiple DASD statistics including EXCP, VSAM statistics, and I/O wait time.
CICS support: Application Performance Analyzer for z/OS supports CICS. CICS monitoring includes monitoring by specific transaction or transaction prefix with wildcards. CICS+ provides tracing support rather than sampling for critical situations.
IMS support: Delivers IMS application performance data on call time and service-call time for DL/I. If desired, IMS+ can be used to trace all IMS calls.
WebSphere MQ® support: Provides CPU usage by queue, by request, and by transaction in WebSphere MQ, as well as service time and wait time for the same categories.
Sysplex support: Supports the sysplex coupling facility. As required, jobs and transactions can be monitored on any LPAR image in the sysplex.
Source language support: Offers support for Assembler, COBOL, and PL/I language applications. With production applications, optimized code support for COBOL and PL/I is supported.
