Purchasers of IBM distributed software products generally obtain one year of Software Subscription and Support. This expires at the customer's anniversary date and requires the renewal of their Software Subscription and Support. Customers are notified and provided a quotation of the cost of renewing their products preceding their anniversary date and either renew through IBM directly or a software reseller. The current IBM software renewal structure provides free upgrades and technical support if the customer maintains their Software Subscription and Support subscription.

Renewing your Software Subscription and Support is one of the most cost-effective ways to protect your software investment. It saves you time, it saves you money, and it ensures your uninterrupted access to vital technical support and product upgrades - features that can make a real difference to your bottom line.
Automatic renewal
Automatic or Continuous Renewal safeguards your Software Subscription and Support [and Fixed Term Licenses] against unintentional lapses.
Here's how it works.
If you do nothing when you receive your renewal quote and e-mail renewal reminders your Software Subscription and Support [and Fixed Term Licenses] will renew automatically at the Anniversary date and you will be invoiced based on your current quotation for Software Subscription and Support or FTL renewal.
It's that simple.
Opting not to renew
We recommend that all customers renew their Software Subscription and Support to take advantage product upgrades and 24x7 Technical Support. But, if you choose NOT to renew your Software Subscription and Support, you must notify IBM of your intent NOT to renew before your renewal date. You may do so either online or in writing.
If at a later date, you wish to reinstate your Software Subscription and Support, you may do so, however, the cost of "Software Subscription and Support Reinstatement," is far greater than your annual renewal rate. In most cases, as much as three times higher than your annual renewal rate.
