Amplify the ROI from SAP applications with DB2 and Power Systems.

Watch the video. IBM is a strategic provider to SAP for its in-house systems. Find out more. Watch the video

Consider the facts. Based on results from the two-tier SAP® Sales and Distribution (SD) standard applicationbenchmark, DB2® on Power Systems™ performed three times faster than Oracle Database on SPARC1, using the same number of cores. We have seen organisations reduce their applicable infrastructure costs in support of SAP solutions by as much as 25 to 50 percent2 when moving to DB2. At the same time, many customers who chose to move workloads from Oracle/Sun to IBM Power Systems have noticed up to a 60 percent drop in IT costs3.

Last year across the globe, nearly 800 SAP customers chose DB2. This is why we think they did so:

Reduced system requirements. Superior performance per core enables clients who are licenced by core to deploy on fewer cores and potentially use fewer database licenses.

Reduced storage requirements. Customers have reported that DB2 deep compression has reduced storage volumes in the range of 40 to 60 percent.3

Operational excellence. automation capabilities and deep integration with SAP system management capabilities have helped a number of customers save up to 30 percent over Oracle for SAP database administrative workloads3. High availability and disaster recovery are fully supported for all releases of IBM DB2 for use with SAP solutions and are part of the DB2 installation in support of SAP solutions.. Should you require support, the joint teams from IBM and SAP are available to serve you.

Optimised SAP environment. As SAP-certified solutions, InfoSphere Optim can help you improve application quality, reduce storage costs, test cycles and upgrades, while InfoSphere Guardium is designed to help secure, manage and protect SAP data and environments from threats, and helps streamline compliance reporting

After implementing IBM DB2, SAP's corporate HR department improved database performance by 40 percent.4
