The following requirements are common to all operating systems supported by CATIA Version 4. System unit and graphic requirements are platform-specific and are detailed in the following paragraphs.

Software requirements

CATIA Version 4 runs on selected system levels of:

  • Windows 2000®
  • Windows NT®
  • IBM® AIX®
  • Hewlett Packard HP-UX
  • SGI IRIX
  • Sun Solaris

Hardware requirements

  • System Unit: Any HP 9000 series 700 workstation, including J-Class, C-Class, and B-Class, supported under HP-UX 10.20 A.C.E 4 (June '99), or HP-UX 10.20 A.C.E 5 (December '99) or HP-UX 11.0 ACE (November '99) may be used, provided that the requirements described below are met.

Note: Because of binary differences between HP-UX 10.20 and HP-UX 11.0, support of HP-UX 11.0 is limited to a strict runtime environment. Operations that involve compiling and linking objects should be conducted on HP-UX 10.20 and copied on HP-UX 11.0 systems for execution.

  • Graphic Adapter: one of the following graphic adapters is required:
    • Integrated Color Graphics
    • CRX (A2608A or option #AQD)
    • CRX-24 (A2602A or option AQ8)
    • CRX-24Z (A2603A or option #AQ9)
    • CRX-48Z (A2609 or option #AQA)
    • HCRX-8 (option #AQF)
    • HCRX-8Z (option #AQH)
    • HCRX-24 (option #AQG)
    • HCRX-24Z (option #AQJ)
    • Visualize-8 (option A4441A)
    • Visualize-24 (option A4442A)
    • Visualize-48 (option A4244A)
    • Visualize-48XP
    • Visualize-FXE
    • Visualize-FX2
    • Visualize-FX4
    • Visualize-FX5
    • Visualize-FX6
    • Visualize FX10
    • Note:
      • Visualize FX graphic adapters are required to access products that have a requirement on OpenGL.
      • As Motif CATIA requires several colormaps, the use of CRX graphics adapters may result in technicolor effects.
  • Supported Configurations: an updated list of hardware configurations, certified at Dassault Systèmes for running CATIA Version 4 products, is published at http://www.catia.com/your_catia/html/hwunix2.htm.

Software requirements

  • Minimum level required:
    HP-UX 10.20 A.C.E. 4 (June '99)5, HP-UX 10.20 A.C.E. 5 (December '99)5, or HP-UX 11.0 A.C.E. (November '99) is required.
  • ANSI C++ (a C++) Runtime Environment, Version 1.21, is required.
  • FORTRAN runtime is required.
  • CDE is the supported desktop environment; the VUE desktop environment is no longer supported.
  • HP-PHIGS runtime environment is required (not required for the Drafting products).
  • PEX runtime environment is required (not required for the Drafting products).
  • Powershade is required (not required for the Drafting products).
    • Notes:
    • ANSI C + + (a C++) runtime libraries are delivered with the operating system.
    • The FORTRAN runtime environment required by CATIA is delivered with the operating system.
    • PEX runtime environment is delivered with the operating system.
    • Powershade is included when Graphics Adapter is ordered.
    • Because of binary differences between HP-UX 10.20 and HP-UX 11.0, support of HP-UX 11.0 is limited to a strict runtime environment. Operations that involve compiling and linking objects should be conducted on HP-UX 10.20 and copied on HP-UX 11.0 systems for execution.
