The capability to work with multiple views and layers increases the user's ability to handle the most complex project. Engineers can produce plant drawings with standard geometric elements such as points, lines, curves and circles adding patterns, line styles, color, text, dimensions and annotations to enhance the information.
- Drafting dress-up
Provides functions to automate the production of drawings from the 3D models. Dress-up operations such as text and dimensioning work on both 2D and 3D models.
- Annotation and dimensions
Using dimensions and annotations to document 2D designs greatly improves the quality of the drawings. Users can automatically access the attribute and geometric data of the plant objects to create drawing annotation and dimensions.
- Associative annotations for P&ID sheets
P&ID sheets are intelligently linked to the 3D model. Annotations may be defined that are associated to an AEC object. These annotations are built using location and attributes of the object and are updated automatically when attributes are modified.
- Adherence to standards
The system comes with dimensioning and text capabilities compliant with the four major international standards: ANSI, ISO, DIN and JIS. In addition, for consistency with project and company standards, users can create their own style definitions and save them within a library.
- Integration and associativity
A major strength of the CATIA/CADAM Plant system is cross-application and cross-drawing (2D, 3D) integration. This allows quick and easy creation of production drawings.
- Multi-platform and national language support (NLS)
The AEC Plant Design product offers multi-platform support, which includes selected IBM, Hewlett Packard, SGI, and SUN workstations. National language support has been enhanced to respect the ISO code page 8859 for menus and messages, allowing function key customization to read in any modern national language.
