- The Hardware export classification search tool is used to communicate IBM product export control information to IBM employees, customers and partners.
- Begin by entering one or more search criteria. Due to the large number of IBM products, it is recommended that you refine your search as much as possible.
- Use the drop-down menu to select the Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) category. The ECCN is an identifier used to determine U.S. Export licensing requirements. The ECCN represents a specific commodity defined in U.S. Export Administration Regulations. For more information, see the Bureau of Industry and Security Web site .
- Use the drop-down menu to select the Hardware classification ID. The Hardware classification ID is a code assigned by IBM to a specific ECCN. The description of this ID can be found on the results page (ID), and in the Classification tables (Table of identifiers).
- Enter a Machine type / Part number to search for a specific product. IBM machine types are in the format "XXXX" and part numbers are typically "XXXXXXX", where "X" can be either alpha or numeric.
- Model numbers are in the format "XXX" and can be alpha or numeric.
- Feature codes are "XXXX" and are alpha or numeric.
- Enter key words to search for terms associated with the product name.
- To refine your search or search for products in a specific date range, enter a date in the format "yyyy-mm-dd".
- When you have finished entering your search criteria, click the Submit button to view the results. Click the Clear button to clear all fields.
