In evaluating the dental benefits IBM provides, here are some things you may want to consider:
- Think about your current dental care needs and those of your family, and consider how they might change over the next year. Keep in mind, the choices you make will apply from your effective date of employment through the end of the year unless you have a qualified status change that permits you to make a change.
- Specific provisions and benefits vary by plan. See Comparing dental options to evaluate the option that makes the most sense for your and your family.
- If your spouse or domestic partner has dental coverage with his or her employer, compare that plan to the IBM options to help you decide which plan works best for you. Remember, you'll receive $5 cash back each month if you decline IBM dental coverage.
- Due to special tax implications for domestic partner coverage, consider the financial impact if you're enrolling a domestic partner. Please be aware that some DMAs may not provide coverage for domestic partners.
- You may use the Provider Directory to find out whether your dentist participates in the dental plans IBM offers. If you're considering IBM Dental Basic or IBM Dental Plus, check to see whether your dentist belongs to the MetLife network. MetLife administers Dental Basic and Dental Plus on behalf of IBM.
