Traditional Enterprise Content Management (ECM) deployments involve great complexity, cost, and time. Installations encounter problems, introducing risks and delays in completion. Afterwards, there is ongoing difficulty in tuning the production environment to run optimally. And all of these challenges are encountered repeatedly during the development, test, and production phases of the project. IBM® Content Foundation Pattern V5.2 addresses these challenges, while accelerating ECM time to value.

IBM Content Foundation Pattern V5.2 provides ECM ease-of-use capabilities that reduce deployment time, overhead and complexity, and increase cost savings. To further overcome the barriers of time, cost, and risk typical in traditional ECM environments, IBM Content Foundation Pattern V5.2 provides pre-integrated, pre-optimized, and pre-configured IBM Content Foundation with preset pattern sizes for IBM PureApplication™ Systems.

IBM Content Foundation V5.2 features:

For more information about IBM Content Foundation V5.2, refer to Software Announcement 213-257, dated June 11, 2013 .

IBM Content Foundation Pattern V5.2 has all of the above features, plus:

With IBM Content Foundation Pattern V5.2, a highly available architectural layout of IBM Content Foundation V5.2 on PureApplication Systems is available and running within hours. Quicker deployment and faster follow-on use accelerate time to value, which is maximized by use of the included preset pattern sizes. The solution's pre-integration and pre-optimization of hardware and software is tailored for efficient processing of enterprise workloads. And ongoing reductions in IT and service costs for administration, maintenance, and updates are evident via system resource efficiencies and a simplified, single point of system management.

Description
Bottom rule

Based on IBM FileNet Content Manager, IBM Content Foundation Pattern V5.2 includes IBM Content Foundation and is fully integrated to run in the IBM PureApplication Systems environment. It combines the automated manageability of PureApplication Systems with the enterprise scalability of IBM Enterprise Content Management (ECM). The result is the fast availability and rapid provisioning of an ECM platform solution tailored for custom application development, document management, social content management, and enterprise manageability.

Accelerated deployment

IBM Content Foundation Pattern V5.2 maximizes time to value by quickening the time needed to install, configure, and deploy an ECM solution. Simplification in the purchase, delivery, and installation processes lessens the time needed to get up and running. Integration with the PureSystems™ Application environment provides rapid provisioning. And optimization of the system environment provides efficient management of enterprise application workloads upon deployment.

Preset pattern sizes, optimized for different workloads, ensure all system variables are ready to go. These preset sizes are designed for performance optimization and provide the built-in expertise needed to avoid the guesswork and time-consuming task of initial and ongoing system tuning.

With a pre-integrated, pre-configured, and pre-optimized ECM solution, you are up and running in hours, not days or weeks. The result is greatly accelerated time to value.

Ease of use

Ease-of-use features reduce system complexity and overhead. By harnessing the appliance-like attributes of PureApplication Systems with the enterprise scalability of IBM ECM, the ability to deploy and manage a robust ECM platform solution has never been easier.

Fully assembled IBM hardware and pre-integrated IBM software takes all the errors and guessing out of deploying a full ECM production environment simply and easily.

The solution environment is readily recreatable during the development, test, and production phases of the project. There is no guesswork or difficulty in readily recreating the deployment when needed.

A single point of control for all administration functions is also provided. System monitoring, fix application, and system updates are all easily accessible and controlled from the administration console.

By leveraging the preset pattern sizes, the built-in expertise and integration by design takes the difficulty out of initial deployment settings and in follow-on performance optimization.

Cost savings

The cost savings experienced with PureApplication Systems patterns are now available for ECM solutions as well. Avoidance of costly service engagements for deployment and increased follow-on productivity result in greatly reduced total ownership cost (TOC).

Cost savings are realized in multiple areas of the ECM system, especially when it comes to labor intensive activities. Solution areas experiencing significant cost savings include:

IBM Content Foundation Pattern V5.2 is a fully pre-integrated, pre-configured, and pre-optimized ECM solution containing preset sizes, intelligently designed to deploy and manage IBM Content Foundation in the PureApplication System environment. IBM Content Foundation Pattern V5.2 accelerates time to value, maximizes ease of use, and lowers both initial deployment and ongoing operational costs.

Charge metrics definitions

User Value Unit (UVU)

UVU is the metric by which this program is licensed. UVU entitlements are based on the number of users for the given program. A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for the appropriate number of UVUs required for your environment as defined by the specific program terms. The UVU entitlements are specific to the program and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with UVU entitlements of another software program. UVU licensing offers you price benefits for customers by enabling a lower cost of incremental growth of resources. To understand these benefits of UVU licensing, and to determine how many UVUs to obtain for the program, contact your IBM representative.

Processor Value Unit (PVU)

PVU is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. The number of PVU entitlements required is based on the processor technology (defined within the PVU Table by processor value, brand, type, and model number at

http://www.ibm.com/software/lotus/passportadvantage/pvu_licensing_for_customers.html

and the number of processors made available to the program. IBM continues to define a processor, for the purpose of PVU-based licensing, to be each processor core on a chip. A dual-core processor chip, for example, has two processor cores.

Licensee can deploy the program using either full capacity licensing or virtualization capacity (sub-capacity) licensing according to the Passport Advantage Sub-Capacity Licensing Terms (refer to the webpage below). If using full capacity licensing, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores* in the physical hardware environment made available to or managed by the program, except for those servers from which the program has been permanently removed. If using virtualization capacity licensing, licensee must obtain entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores made available to or managed by the program, as defined according to the Virtualization Capacity License Counting Rules at

http://www.ibm.com/software/lotus/passportadvantage/Counting_Software_licenses_using_sp ecific_virtualization_technologies.html

* An activated processor core is a processor core that is available for use in a physical or virtual server, regardless of whether the capacity of the processor core can be or is limited through virtualization technologies, operating system commands, BIOS settings, or similar restrictions.

Notes :

Server

Server is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. A server is a computer system that executes requested procedures, commands, or applications to one or more user or client devices. A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for each server regardless of the number of processor cores or partitions in the server on which the program runs or each server managed by the program. Where blade technology is employed, each blade is considered a separate server.

Resource Value Unit (RVU)

RVU is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. RVU entitlements are based on the quantity of a specific designated measurement for the given program. A PoE must be obtained for the appropriate number of RVUs required for your environment as defined by the specific program terms. The RVU entitlements are specific to the program and may include, but are not limited to the following: Client Devices, data source records, messages, and servers, and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with RVU entitlements of another program. To understand these benefits of RVU licensing, and to determine how many RVUs to obtain for the program, contact your IBM representative.

IBM Electronic Services
Bottom rule

Electronic Service Agent™ and the IBM Electronic Support web portal are dedicated to providing fast, exceptional support to IBM Systems customers. The IBM Electronic Service Agent tool is a no-additional-charge tool that proactively monitors and reports hardware events, such as system errors, performance issues, and inventory. The Electronic Service Agent tool can help you stay focused on your company's strategic business initiatives, save time, and spend less effort managing day-to-day IT maintenance issues. Servers enabled with this tool can be monitored remotely around the clock by IBM Support all at no additional cost to you.

Now integrated into the base operating system of AIX® V5.3, AIX V6.1, and AIX V7.1, Electronic Service Agent is designed to automatically and electronically report system failures and utilization issues to IBM , which can result in faster problem resolution and increased availability. System configuration and inventory information collected by the Electronic Service Agent tool also can be viewed on the secure Electronic Support web portal, and used to improve problem determination and resolution by you and the IBM support team. To access the tool main menu, simply type smitty esa_main, and select Configure Electronic Service Agent . In addition, ESA now includes a powerful Web user interface, giving the administrator easy access to status, tool settings, problem information, and filters. For more information and documentation on how to configure and use Electronic Service Agent , refer to

http://www.ibm.com/support/electronic

The IBM Electronic Support portal is a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services and support. This portal enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems. The My Systems and Premium Search functions make it even easier for Electronic Service Agent tool-enabled customers to track system inventory and find pertinent fixes.

Benefits

Increased uptime: The Electronic Service Agent tool is designed to enhance the Warranty or Maintenance Agreement by providing faster hardware error reporting and uploading system information to IBM Support. This can translate to less wasted time monitoring the symptoms, diagnosing the error, and manually calling IBM Support to open a problem record. Its 24 x 7 monitoring and reporting mean no more dependence on human intervention or off-hours customer personnel when errors are encountered in the middle of the night.

Security: The Electronic Service Agent tool is designed to be secure in monitoring, reporting, and storing the data at IBM . The Electronic Service Agent tool securely transmits either via the Internet (HTTPS or VPN) or modem, and can be configured to communicate securely through gateways to provide customers a single point of exit from their site. Communication is one way. Activating Electronic Service Agent does not enable IBM to call into a customer's system. System inventory information is stored in a secure database, which is protected behind IBM firewalls. It is viewable only by the customer and IBM . The customer's business applications or business data is never transmitted to IBM .

More accurate reporting: Since system information and error logs are automatically uploaded to the IBM Support center in conjunction with the service request, customers are not required to find and send system information, decreasing the risk of misreported or misdiagnosed errors. Once inside IBM , problem error data is run through a data knowledge management system and knowledge articles are appended to the problem record.

Customized support: Using the IBM ID entered during activation, customers can view system and support information in the My Systems and Premium Search sections of the Electronic Support website at

http://www.ibm.com/support/electronic

My Systems provides valuable reports of installed hardware and software using information collected from the systems by Electronic Service Agent . Reports are available for any system associated with the customer's IBM ID. Premium Search combines the function of search and the value of Electronic Service Agent information, providing advanced search of the technical support knowledgebase. Using Premium Search and the Electronic Service Agent information that has been collected from your system, customers are able to see search results that apply specifically to their systems.
