Effective December 31, 2002, IBM will withdraw from marketing the following program licensed under the IBM International Program License Agreement (IPLA).

Replacement Product
CICS Transaction Gateway V3.1 is replaced by CICS Transaction Gateway V4.0, announced on June 26, 2001. For details, refer to Software Announcement 201-187 , dated June 26, 2001.
CICS Universal Clients V3.1 was designed to operate on a desktop and to support full-function client applications. Future applications are expected to implement a thin client design where a browser is used to provide desktop access, with no CICS Universal Clients required, so the product has no direct replacement. Where customers need to maintain in production existing applications employing CICS Universal Clients V3.1, fee-based service extensions beyond the date of service discontinuance will be considered.
Where CICS Universal Clients V3.1 is being used on a server to support multiple users, it is replaced by CICS Transaction Gateway V4.0, which retains the major functions of CICS Universal Clients V3.1.

Note that there is no change to the duration of program services for CICS
Transaction Gateway V3.1. Program services for CICS Transaction Gateway
V3.1 end on January 31, 2002.

Shipment with Other Products
Commensurate with its date of withdrawal from marketing, CICS Transaction Gateway V3.1 will be removed from bundled products with which it is packaged. This includes WebSphere™ Application Server Enterprise Edition V4.0.
Similarly, commensurate with its date of withdrawal from marketing, CICS Universal Clients V3.1 will be removed from bundled products with which it is packaged.
