WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Single Server Edition for

WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Single Server Edition for
Multiplatforms V4.0 delivers the broadest enablement of enterprise
applications and assets to Web services via its unparalleled connectivity

This program, when downloaded from a Web site, contains the applicable
IBM license agreement, and LI, if appropriate and will be presented for

Security, Auditability, and Control
WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Single Server Edition for
Multiplatforms V4.0 uses the security and auditability features of the
respective operating systems.
The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation
of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls
in application systems and communication facilities.
Ordering Information
WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Single Server Edition for
Multiplatforms V4.0 is a stand-alone product with one charge unit
processors. It is available in units of one. The Processor Program
Package feature (CD-ROM) is required for the first processor on the first
server. A 1 Processor Entitlement is required for each processor beyond
the first one. WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Single Server
Edition for Multiplatforms V4.0 is available at an upgrade price for
those customers currently licensed for the following qualifying programs:
WebSphere Application Server V1.0, V1.1, and V2.0, V3.0, and V3.5
Standard Edition. Only customers who have previously purchased WebSphere
Application Server V3.5, Standard Edition using BTO PID numbers are
eligible to use the BTO upgrade feature number. Upgrades can be acquired
up to the current level of use authorized for the qualifying programs.
The price of WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Single Server Edition
for Multiplatforms V4.0 is based on the number of processors in the
system or node executing all or any part of the application. In the case
of a symmetric multiprocessor (SMP) system, you must also acquire the 1
Processor Entitlement feature.
The following examples illustrate the pricing methodology:

Two 4-way SMPs, whether stand-alone systems or nodes in a larger system,
require the WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Single Server Edition
for Multiplatforms V4.0 Processor Program Package and seven 1 Processor
Entitlement features.

Upgrade from WebSphere Application Server V2, Standard Edition on a 4-way
SMP requires the WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Single Server
Edition for Multiplatforms V4.0 Processor Program Package Upgrade and
three 1 Processor Upgrade Entitlement features.

Upgrades from WebSphere Application Server V2, Standard Edition
1-Install, require a WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Single Server
Edition for Multiplatforms V4.0 1 Processor Upgrade Entitlement feature.
Single Pallet Delivery:
Consolidates RS/600 hardware, AIX Version 4, and selected AIX
licensed program orders into a single delivery. Effective with this
announcement, WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Single Server
Edition for Multiplatforms V4.0 continues single pallet delivery. The
product's entitled publications and media are consolidated with the
RS/6000 system unit into a single delivery. The software orders affected
are those ordered using the program number 5648-C84 BTO structure,
designated as single pallet delivery, and tied to the same preinstalled
RS/6000 system order. Select feature 3483 with a preinstalled RS/6000
order to choose single pallet delivery.

Deprecated Function
The use of the ".servlet" configuration file by the WebSphere Application
Server PageList Support will be deprecated. This does not mean that the
PageList Support is to be deprecated, only the use of the ".servlet"
file.
Removed Function

The WebSphere Application Server Connection Manager Version 2.0 APIs
have been removed. Applications using this must be migrated to the new
WebSphere Connection Pooling model.

Support for processing JavaServer Pages (JSP) Version .91 has been
removed.

Support for processing JSP Version 1.0 has been removed. Because
the JSP Version 1.1 specification is built on the JSP
Version 1.0 specification, all JSPs developed at the
Version 1.0 level specification will be directly compatible and
capable of being executed on WebSphere Application Server
Version 4.0.

Native install capability for the UNIX-based platforms is removed.
WebSphere Application Server Version 4.0 is installed using a
Java-based install application, which includes the option of performing a
"silent" install.

Remote request invocation through the use of the OSE remote support is
removed. The equivalent capability can be achieved through the use of
the new HTTP transport support.

Remote request invocation through the use of the servlet redirector
support is removed. The equivalent capability can be achieved through
the use of the new HTTP transport support.

The XML parser XML4J Version 2.0.15 is removed and replaced with
XML4J Version 3.1.1.

For those customers who have a "not supported" agreement with IBM for the
use of the private enterprise performance monitoring (EPM) APIs, these
APIs have been removed. The equivalent capability can be achieved
through the use of the performance monitoring interface (PMI) APIs.

The XMLConfig configuration tool is not included for the WebSphere
Application Server Advanced Single Server Version 4.0. It is only
included with the WebSphere Application Server Advanced Edition
Version 4.0.
