DESCRIPTION
Personal Editor II  is a full-screen, command-driven  text editor
that  is fast  and  easy-to-use.   Word processing  features  are
combined with free-form  text entry to provide  an excellent tool
for program source and document generation.
Personal  Editor II  provides  significantly  more function  than
Personal Editor.   Up to  238 keys  and 76  "pseudo" keys  can be
redefined by the  user. There is a split screen  facility so that
multiple files can  be displayed on the screen at  the same time.
Usability on  a fixed  disk is  much enhanced  by the  ability to
change  directories from  within  the program;  and  you can  now
perform DOS  commands, or  even run  other programs,  from within
Personal Editor II.
HIGHLIGHTS

o   User-definable  keys,  including  the  ability  to  assign  a
    sequence of commands and text to a single key
o   Edit up to 20 DOS files at one time
o   Split the  screen into  as many  as four  "windows", each  of
    which can display a different file
o   Support  for IBM  displays in  various  modes, including  the
    ability  to change  the  font size  on  an Enhanced  Graphics
    Adapter
o   Automatic disk spill for files larger than available memory
o   Word processing  features such  as word  wrap, user-definable
    margins and tabs, line centring, and paragraph reflow
o   Block text operations, including move, copy, delete and shift
    for whole lines, blocks, sentences, and phrases
o   Recovery of changed or deleted text
o   Global and  individual search  or change  for specified  text
    strings
Personal Editor II
o   File management  functions such  as erase,  rename, and  disk
    directory display
o   Ability to print all or part of the file being edited
o   Commands can be abbreviated for efficient use
o   Full DOS subdirectory support
o   Display available memory and diskspace
o   It is  possible to suspend operation  of PE II and  return to
    the DOS prompt  to execute other applications.  (IBM does not
    warrant that this  function will maintain data  integrity for
    either the PE II file or the application being performed)
o   On-line help
o   Includes PIF and filter files for use under Topview
o   Create self-running demonstrations and presentations
o   UPPERCASE/LOWERCASE commands support accented characters
o   Edit a file by selecting it from a displayed directory
o   Keyboard templates are included on  the program diskette that
    can be edited by the user to  reflect his own use of keys and
    then printed out to provide a handy reference
o   Plus many new commands not available in Personal Editor, such
    as LINE, COLUMN,  PUSH MARK, POP MARK, BEGIN  WORD, END WORD,
    and BEEP.
INSTALLATION AND OPERATION
An installation  routine is  provided for  fixed disk  users. The
manual includes  a section that helps  the user backup  and start
Personal Editor II,  and a tutorial section.   Personal Editor II
is invoked  by a  single command, with  an optional  filename and
parameters.
PACKAGING
Personal Editor II consists of:
o    One 5.25-inch program diskette
o    One 3.25-inch program diskette
o    A User's Manual, which includes both a "Getting Started" and
    reference sections.
MINIMUM PRE-REQUISITES
HARDWARE AND OPERATING SYSTEM
Personal Editor II supports the following:
SOFTWARE NEEDED
o   DOS  2.10  or  higher for  IBM  Personal  Computer,  Personal
    Computer XT and Portable Personal Computer
o   DOS 3.00 or higher for IBM Personal Computer AT
o   DOS 3.2 for the 3.5" media
HARDWARE NEEDED
o   IBM  Personal   Computer,  Personal  Computer   XT,  Portable
    Personal Computer, Personal Computer AT or IBM 3270PC
o   At least 128 Kb of memory (the DOS shell command requires 192
    Kb)
o   One 5.25-inch or one 3.5-inch double-sided diskette drive
o   IBM  Monochrome Display,  Colour Display  or Enhanced  Colour
    Display.
CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES
To successfully install and use  Personal Editor II, the customer
should read the User's Manual  and complete the "Getting Started"
chapter.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Available to Authorised Personal Computer Dealers under the terms
of the Authorised Remarketers Agreement  (ARA) and the Authorised
Dealers  Agreement   -  IBM  Personal  Computer.    Available  to
Authorised Personal Computer Distributors under  the terms of the
Authorised Distributor Agreement - IBM Personal Computer.
