IBM IMS Cloning Tool for z/OS , V1.2 provides a faster, simpler cloning solution that can help improve productivity and supports efforts to reduce total cost. It automates the cloning process to provide usable IMS clones within minutes, helping to boost efficiency and to free up DBA time. By employing fast copy technology combined with automation and by eliminating manual efforts, this tool can help you increase productivity and reduce online downtime and the costs associated with cloning an IMS subsystem or refreshing databases.
IBM IMS Online Reorganization Facility for z/OS , V1.3 lets you schedule when you want to reorganize online databases by predefining an online reorganization window, which can save DBA resources, CPU time, and increase database availability. The product provides all of the necessary reorganization procedures (unload, reload, prefix resolution, prefix update, secondary index building, and image copy) in a single step. It also provides optional pointer checking and ACB or DMB replacements.
IBM IMS Tools Solution Packs trade-up options
The following four IMS Tools Solution Packs are now available with trade-up options, offering an even easier way to obtain all the utilities, features, and functions needed to effectively manage your IMS environment:
- IBM IMS Database Solution Pack for z/OS offers features, functions, and processes that DBAs can use to more effectively analyze, maintain, and tune IMS full-function databases, including High Availability Large Databases (HALDBs). It provides a comprehensive set of high-performance utilities to unload, load, index build, reorganize, back up, verify, and report on full-function databases and can help reduce the operational complexity and the impact of database reorganization on system resources.
- IBM IMS Fast Path Solution Pack for z/OS delivers extensive utilities that include functions a database administrator can use to analyze, maintain, and tune IMS Fast Path databases. Included are features that can help boost system availability by enabling the operations of a variety of key functions without taking the IMS database offline.
- IBM IMS Performance Solution Pack for z/OS delivers a more affordable, comprehensive portfolio of IBM database performance management tools. The product combines the features and functions of IBM IMS Connect Extensions for z/OS , IBM IMS Performance Analyzer for z/OS , and IBM IMS Problem Investigator for z/OS . The three products are tightly integrated, making the end-to-end analysis of IMS transactions faster and easier than ever, and better able to support improved productivity for problem analysts, improved IMS application performance, more efficient IMS resource utilization, and higher system availability.
- IBM IMS Recovery Solution Pack for z/OS combines features, functions, and processes to support efforts to implement "best practices" backup and recovery scenarios. This product combines the features and functions previously available separately in the following programs: IBM IMS Recovery Expert for z/OS , V1, IBM IMS Database Recovery Facility for z/OS , and IBM IMS High Performance Change Accumulation Utility for z/OS . DB2 Performance Solution Pack for z/OS , V1.1 (5655-E74) offers features, functions, and processes that DBAs can use to more effectively identify, diagnose, and solve performance challenges across DB2 for z/OS environments, as well as help prevent them from reoccurring in the future. Key integration features within individual products, such as in-context launching of other tools, direct data import/export and so on, allow users to maintain problem solving context as they move from one tool to the next to identify, diagnose, and solve performance management challenges.
The DB2 Performance Solution Pack for z/OS is composed of the following tools:
- Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for DB2 Performance Expert on z/OS allows users to assess the efficiency of DB2 and optimize its performance, combining sophisticated response time tracking, reporting, monitoring, stored procedure, and buffer pool analysis features, as well as expert database analysis functions.
- Provides end-to-end response-time measurement capability for heterogeneous applications accessing DB2 for z/OS data through SQL or stored procedures
- Provides performance metrics about IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator usage
- Monitors, analyzes, and tunes the performance of DB2 subsystems
- Improves productivity with robust views of performance
- Identifies performance bottlenecks quickly and easily by using predefined rules
- Provides substantial breadth and depth of monitoring DB2 environments by combining batch reporting capabilities with real-time monitoring and historical tracking functions
- Supports an enterprise-wide integrated systems management strategy activated by the Tivoli OMEGAMON XE family
- Stores performance data and analysis tools in a performance warehouse
- DB2 Query Monitor for z/OS enables users to identify problem SQL activity and provides robust statistics for SQL tuning. It can work in an integrated fashion with InfoSphere Optim Query Workload Tuner for DB2 for z/OS and DB2 SQL Performance Analyzer for z/OS to enable users to customize and tune the poorly performing SQL statement or workload and to ensure the effectiveness of DB2 subsystems and improve overall performance.
- Monitors SQL activities and provides automatic alerts to exceptional events on a monitored DB2 subsystem in real time
- Monitors DB2 commands, host variables, and SQL CA and SQL code in real time
- Provides user-friendly ISPF, GUI, and web interfaces with SQL statistics of multiple DB2 subsystems
- Integrates with other DB2 Tools to reduce resource consumption
- Supports single sign-on for the ISPF view of data sharing group
- DB2 SQL Performance Analyzer for z/OS provides DBAs and application developers with the ability to do extensive analysis of SQL queries without executing them. This analysis aids users in tuning queries to achieve maximum performance. It can also reduce the escalating costs of database queries by estimating their cost prior to execution. Candidate queries can be passed from both DB2 Query Monitor for z/OS and Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for DB2 Performance Expert on z/OS to facilitate the analysis of a problem query once identified.
- Provides performance analysis and recommendations for DB2 plans, packages, DBRMs, and SQL without executing them
- Provides several interfaces: Batch, TSO, ISPF, and QMF™
- Offers "what-if" scenarios to help determine the performance for various database design alternatives

- Enhanced interface to DB2 Query Monitor for z/OS accepts either a DDNAME or a DSNAME when SQL Performance Analyzer for z/OS is called
- InfoSphere Optim Query Workload Tuner for DB2 for z/OS empowers users to more efficiently manage performance by proactively optimizing the performance of SQL queries and query workloads. InfoSphere Optim Query Workload Tuner for DB2 for z/OS makes it easy to access candidate queries and define workloads from a number of common sources. It is integrated with other DB2 Tools, such as DB2 Query Monitor for z/OS and Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for DB2 Performance Expert on z/OS to provide a more complete solution for monitoring and tuning SQL. This integration helps organizations reduce the risk of customer complaints, missed SLAs, and financial losses due to performance problems.

IMS Cloning Tool for z/OS , V1.2 (5655-U91) makes it easier to quickly clone IMS subsystems and refresh databases. By employing fast copy technology combined with automation, this tool can help you increase DBA productivity and application availability, while reducing the costs associated with cloning an IMS subsystem or refreshing databases.
Modern storage processing systems provide fast data replication and copying services that allow database data to be replicated instantly. IMS Cloning Tool for z/OS takes advantage of storage processor functions to replicate data on behalf of the database system more quickly. Valuable host CPU and I/O is saved by offloading the copy to the storage processor instead of z/OS . IMS Cloning Tool for z/OS then performs both the volume metadata and IMS metadata management to allow entire IMS subsystems to be cloned or specific IMS databases to be refreshed in just minutes.
IMS Cloning Tool for z/OS helps reduce the time required to create a clone from hours or even days to just minutes, thus boosting efficiency and freeing DBAs from performing time-consuming, multi-step tasks.
You can use IMS Cloning Tool for z/OS to perform the following tasks:
- Clone entire IMS subsystems or select databases, including HALDBs, more quickly and easily.
- Create read-only IMS environments for reporting or staging for data warehouse loading.
- Create IMS environments to help implement application or system maintenance.
- Create IMS environments to help migrate to new versions of IMS .
- Copy production data to create IMS application testing and quality assurance environments.
- Offload IMS Pointer Checker for z/OS executions to a copy of the production environment.
- Troubleshoot production problems by making a copy more quickly and then fixing the problem in development, thereby providing faster resolution.
IMS Cloning Tool for z/OS , V1.2 offers the following key features:
- ISPF User Interface
- A full ISPF user interface that is task-oriented, contains comprehensive help panels, and can decrease the amount of time an end user spends on generating cloning processes.
- This interface can be integrated with the IBM DB2 Cloning Tool for z/OS , V3.1 (5655-N15), if available, to provide a single interface to be used with both products.
- Subsystem Cloning Solution
- Removes the requirement to have data replicated to the remote site when invoking FlashCopy® operations to a PPRC primary volume by supporting Remote Pair FlashCopy (Preserve Mirror)
- Provides an option to invoke a slow copy when FASTPREP(PREF) is specified and no fast replication is available
- Reduces the amount of data that needs to be copied by supporting Incremental FlashCopy
- Eliminates the requirement for exact duplicate disk between source and target by providing support for Space Efficient FlashCopy
- Automatically invokes TimeFinder/Clone Volume Snap for sites with EMC storage removing the requirement for additional jobs
- Creates an instant point-in-time consistent copy, which can significantly reduce downtime by supporting IBM FlashCopy Consistency Group functionality and EMC Enginuity Consistency Assist
- Database Cloning Solution
- Eliminates the requirement of having to take the database offline or produce a fuzzy copy by supporting the IMS Type-2 UPDATE DB QUIESCE command. The IMS UPDATE DB QUIESCE command provides consistency during the fast-replication copy without having to take the database offline.
- Provides a consistent copy of the target data after a fuzzy copy operation, thereby maximizing availability. This option applies IMS logs records from the source database to the target database to bring the target database to a transactionally consistent state.
- Provides data security anonymity through data masking. This allows fields containing sensitive or private data, such as credit cards numbers or names and addresses, to be masked when copied to the target databases.
- Removes the requirement to define the target databases if they do not exist on the target system by dynamically defining new databases.
- Automatically invokes TimeFinder/Snap data set for sites with EMC storage removing the requirement of additional jobs to refresh databases.
- Automates cleanup of previously refreshed target IMS data sets. IMS Cloning Tool will keep track of data sets that were refreshed and build IDCAMS delete commands for them that can be executed by the user at the completion of their testing cycle to delete and uncatalog those data sets.
- Adds flexibility when refreshing databases by providing an option to process remaining databases when an error is encountered. This feature may be useful in cases where a large number of databases are being refreshed and only a few databases may not be copied at that time.
IMS Online Reorganization Facility for z/OS , V1.3 (5655-H97) is a high-performance tool that reduces downtime from hours to seconds and increases database administration productivity and efficiency with a single-step reorganization process. The tool can implement changes automatically across all online systems without the need for manual intervention. The single-step reorganization process can be used for all full-function databases, greatly reducing the complexity of the JCL needed to perform the many reorganization process steps.
With IMS Online Reorganization Facility for z/OS , you can:
- Reorganize HISAM, SHISAM, HIDAM, HDAM, PHIDAM, and PHDAM databases
- Make selected DBD changes during the reorganization process, automatically propagating the changes to the participating online systems without manual intervention
- Define the period when takeover time occurs, specifying a less-critical time window for when the database is unavailable
- Automatically create and define the shadow data sets based on the existing database data sets:
- System Managed Storage (SMS) allocation uses the same SMS constructs and candidate volumes.
- Non-SMS allocation uses the same volume serials.
- Allow a user exit to be specified during load, which can be used to perform tasks such as purge or change data
All features and functionality of the previous release are included in this release. Additionally, the following enhancements are offered:
- Support for very large multipartitioned databases with non-unique segment keys
- Enhanced RECON cleanup support after IMS shutdown during the image copy process under IMS Online Reorganization Facility for z/OS
- More specific reason code for ABEND U0999 when a job ends in an error
- Allow specification of selected partitions
IMS Tools Solution Packs
IMS Database Solution Pack for z/OS , V1.2 (5655-S77) consists of eight IMS Tools that combined offers features, functions, and processes that DBAs can use to more effectively analyze, maintain, and tune IMS full-function databases, including High Availability Large Databases (HALDBs). IMS Database Solution Pack for z/OS complements and exploits the Autonomics Director and the Administration Console, both components of IBM Tools Base for z/OS , V1.3 (5655-V93).
With Autonomics Director, IMS Database Solution Pack for z/OS implements the automation of tools execution using detailed understanding of the current state of the IMS databases. Once an IMS database has been designed, implemented, and is in use, the IMS Database Solution Pack for z/OS uses the Autonomics Director to assist the DBA in identifying and performing the normal functions associated with maintaining the health, performance, and recoverability of the database. The capabilities of Administration Console are extended by providing detailed insight into the health and availability of full-function IMS databases through its web interface.

IMS Fast Path Solution Pack for z/OS , V1.2 (5655-W14) is a combination of IMS Tools that offer comprehensive utilities and functions that DBAs can use to analyze, maintain, and tune IMS Fast Path databases (DEDBs) and build and analyze Fast Path Secondary Index (FPSI) databases that are supported in IMS V12. Features are provided that can help boost system availability by enabling the operation of a variety of key functions without taking the IMS databases offline. Once an IMS DEDB has been designed, implemented, and is in use, the IMS Fast Path Solution Pack for z/OS uses the Autonomics Director to assist the DBA in identifying and performing the normal functions associated with maintaining the health, performance, and recoverability of the database.
IMS Fast Path Solution Pack for z/OS also uses Autonomics Director to provide a "Diagnosis for DEDB areas health" function for DEDB area reorganization.
With IMS Fast Path Solution Pack for z/OS , DBAs are able to have central control of policies on conditions for exception detection and reorganization of DEDBs. The ISPF based Policy Dialog helps DBAs create, customize, and manage policies. This feature can help save time and resources when performing the tasks of database exception detection and reorganization.

IMS Performance Solution Pack for z/OS , V1.2 (5655-S42) delivers a more affordable, comprehensive portfolio of IBM database performance management tools. The product combines the features and functions of IMS Connect Extensions for z/OS , IMS Performance Analyzer for z/OS , and IMS Problem Investigator for z/OS . The three products are complementary, making the end-to-end analysis of IMS transactions faster and more easy, supporting improved productivity for problem analysts, improved IMS application performance, more efficient IMS resource utilization, and higher system availability.
- IBM IMS Connect Extensions for z/OS is a tool that enhances the manageability of TCP/IP access to IMS through IMS Connect, an integrated function of IMS .
- IBM IMS Performance Analyzer for z/OS provides comprehensive transaction performance and system resource usage reporting for your Information Management System Database ( IMS DB) and Transaction Manager ( IMS TM) systems.
- IBM IMS Problem Investigator for z/OS enables interactive analysis of log files to gain insight into IMS transaction events within and across systems.
The IMS Performance Solution Pack for z/OS offers a suite of tools which are useful separately, but when combined they can provide a powerful performance analysis capability.
By using the IMS Performance Solution Pack for z/OS , you can perform the following tasks:
- Use IMS Problem Investigator for z/OS to browse sections in the IMS log where poorly performing transactions are found (using an accounting index that is generated by IMS Performance Analyzer for z/OS ).
- Quickly identify or eliminate IMS Connect as the source of performance problems and then determine whether the problem is in OTMA, MQ, DB2 , shared queues or any of many other subsystems.
- Automatically select and combine IMS Connect Extensions for z/OS journals with IMS logs to view only those records from the time of day that a problem occurred.
- Rapidly isolate problems in complex interrelated enterprise systems, thereby reducing downtime.
- Focus more on solving business problems rather than searching for and formatting logs.
- Pinpoint exactly where and why transactions are delayed.
- Perform advanced analysis using less-experienced staff to determine, for example:
- The cause of TCP/IP client delays
- Why transactions are falling below service level agreements
- Map the lifecycle of individual transactions, which provides a better understanding of your environment.
- Solve problems with new and existing applications and transactions. Audit changes, security violations, and transaction pathways.

Additionally, it includes all the features and functions of IMS Index Builder for z/OS , and IMS High Performance Image Copy for z/OS . In summary, virtually everything necessary to enable timely recovery of IMS DB assets is provided with IMS Recovery Solution Pack for z/OS .
The major benefits of IMS Recovery Solution Pack for z/OS are:
- Verification of recovery assets to help verify availability and usability

- RECON cleanup
- Recovery of multiple database data sets and fast path areas simultaneously

Value Unit-based pricing
Value Unit pricing for eligible IBM System z IBM International Program License Agreement (IPLA) programs enables a lower cost of incremental growth and enterprise aggregation. Each System z IPLA product with Value Unit pricing has a single price per Value Unit and a conversion matrix, called Value Unit Exhibit , for converting from some designated measurement to Value Units. Most commonly, Millions of Service Units (MSUs) is the measurement designated by IBM to be converted to Value Units. Some other measurements are engines or messages. Since MSUs are the most common measurement, that measurement will be used for the remainder of this description.
Value Unit pricing offers price benefits for you. For each System z IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the required license capacity . Each of the various Value Unit Exhibits stipulate that the larger your required license capacity, the fewer Value Units per MSU you will need. Value Unit Exhibits are uniquely identified by a three-digit code and referred to using the nomenclature VUExxx, where xxx is the three-digit code.
Subsequent acquisitions of Value Unit priced programs offer additional price benefits. The quantity of each System z IPLA program that you have acquired is referred to as entitled license capacity . If you wish to grow your entitled license capacity for a System z IPLA program, the calculation to determine additional needed Value Units is based upon the number of Value Units already acquired.
For each System z IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, you should:
- Determine the required license capacity, in MSUs
- Aggregate the MSUs across the enterprise
- Convert the total MSUs to Value Units, using the applicable Value Unit Exhibit
- Multiply the price per Value Unit by the total number of Value Units to determine the total cost

Note that Value Units of a given product cannot be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Units of another product.

IBM is also providing Subscription and Support for these products via a separately purchased offering under the terms of the IBM International Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance. This offering:
- Includes and extends the support services provided in the base support to include technical support via telephone.
- Entitles you to future releases and versions, at no additional charge. Note that you are not entitled to new products.
When Subscription and Support is ordered, the charges will automatically renew annually unless canceled by you.
The combined effect of the IPLA license and the Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance gives you rights and support services comparable to those under the traditional ICA S/390® and System z license or its equivalent. Trade-in terms for DB2 and IMS Solution Packs
IBM may offer trade-in terms for customers who have separately licensed one or more of the individual products that are included in a Solution Pack and who wish to trade in the licenses to one or more such individual products when licensing a Solution Pack. If IBM offers such trade-in terms, then as part of any such trade in, all entitlements to the products being traded in will be terminated. In some cases, the entitlements to the Solution Packs being licensed by the customer as part of the trade-in arrangement may not be equal to the entitlements being terminated. For example, if the customer holds entitlement to 100 Value Units of product A which has been included in a Solution Pack, and is trading in its license to product A in return for 90 Value Units of the Solution Pack, then, in keeping with the specific trade-in terms, the customer agrees to terminate all its entitlements to product A (100 VUs).

IBM warrants that when the program is used in the specified operating environment, it will conform to its specifications. The warranty applies only to the unmodified portion of the program. IBM does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the program or that IBM will correct all program defects. You are responsible for the results obtained from the use of the program.
IBM provides you with access to IBM databases containing information on known program defects, defect corrections, restrictions, and bypasses at no additional charge. For further information, consult the IBM Software Support Handbook found at
IBM will maintain this information for at least one year after the original licensee acquires the program (warranty period).

Enhanced support, called Subscription and Support, includes telephone assistance, as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect. You will be notified of discontinuance of support with 12 months' notice.

If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are the original licensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paid for it, if within 30 days of your invoice date you return the program and its PoE to the party from whom you obtained it. If you downloaded the program, you may contact the party from whom you acquired it for instructions on how to obtain the refund.

For additional information for products with reference-based terms, System z IPLA sub-capacity programs with reference-based terms adds value to the parent program across the environment, regardless of where in the environment the System z IPLA program executes.
An environment is defined as either a single or stand-alone machine or a qualified Parallel Sysplex® . You may have one or more different environments across the enterprise. To determine the required license capacity for each System z IPLA program with referenced-based terms, each environment should be assessed separately.
When a System z IPLA sub-capacity program with reference-based terms is used in a qualified Parallel Sysplex environment, the required license capacity of the System z IPLA program must equal with the license capacity of the parent program across the Parallel Sysplex . Qualified Parallel Sysplex refers to one:
- Where MLC pricing is aggregated across the sysplex
Sub-capacity eligibility
To be eligible for sub-capacity charging on select System z IPLA programs, you must first implement and comply with all terms of either sub-capacity Workload License Charges (WLC) or sub-capacity Entry Workload License Charges (EWLC). To implement sub-capacity WLC or EWLC, a machine must be System z (or equivalent). On that machine:
- All instances of the OS/390® operating system must be migrated to the z/OS operating systems.
- Any licenses for the OS/390 operating system must be discontinued.
- All instances of the z/OS operating systems must be running in z/Architecture® (64-bit) mode.
For that machine, you must create and submit a Sub-Capacity Report to IBM each month. Sub-Capacity Reports must be generated using the Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT). For additional information or to obtain a copy of SCRT, visit the System z Software Pricing website
You must comply with all of the terms of the WLC or EWLC offering, whichever is applicable:
- The complete terms and conditions of sub-capacity WLC are defined in the IBM Customer Agreement - Attachment for System z Workload License Charges (Z125-6516).
- The complete terms and conditions for sub-capacity EWLC are defined in the IBM Customer Agreement - Attachment for IBM System z 890 and 800 License Charges (Z125-6587).
Additionally, you must sign and comply with the terms and conditions specified in the amendment to the IPLA contract - Amendment for IBM System z9® and System z Programs Sub-Capacity Pricing (Z125-6929). Once the amendment is signed, the terms in the amendment replace any and all previous System z IPLA sub-capacity terms and conditions.
Sub-capacity utilization determination
Sub-capacity utilization is determined based on the utilization of a sub-capacity eligible reference product and machine.
On/Off Capacity on Demand (CoD)
To be eligible for On/Off CoD pricing, you must be enabled for temporary capacity on the corresponding hardware, and the required contract, Attachment for IBM System z On/Off Capacity on Demand (Z125-7883) must be signed prior to use.

Subscription and Support
To receive voice technical support via telephone and future releases and versions at no additional charge, Subscription and Support must be ordered. The capacity of Subscription and Support (Value Units) must be the same as the capacity ordered for the product licenses.
To order, specify the Subscription and Support program number (PID) referenced above and the appropriate license or charge optiontop.
IBM is also providing Subscription and Support for these products via a separately purchased offering under the terms of the IBM International Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance (IAASM). This offering:
- Includes and extends the support services provided in the base support to include technical support via telephone.
- Entitles you to future releases and versions, at no additional charge. Note that you are not entitled to new products.
When Subscription and Support is ordered, the charges will automatically renew annually unless canceled by you.
The combined effect of the IPLA license and the Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance gives you rights and support services comparable to those under the traditional ICA S/390 and System z license or its equivalent. To ensure that you continue to enjoy the level of support you are used to in the ICA business model, you must order both the license for the program and the support for the selected programs at the same Value Unit quantities.
