Overview
IBM Tivoli® Composite Application Manager for WebSphere® V6.0 delivers advanced monitoring and management of WebSphere-based Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE) applications. It includes diagnostic, reporting, analysis, and problem resolution tools that help detect, analyze, and repair WebSphere performance issues in production and test environments. It also helps maintain high standards of uptime, performance, and responsiveness on both mainframe and distributed systems in WebSphere-based J2EE environments and assists in the performance and analysis of composite transactions that extend beyond J2EE to Customer Information Control System (CICS®) and Information Management System (IMS) environments.
IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for CICS Transactions V6.0 and IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for IMS Transactions V6.0 are optional, separately orderable host-based data collectors that complement the function of IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0. They can send correlated, real-time transaction performance metrics to the IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 J2EE-based managing server.
Designed for application support, test, and development teams, IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 helps you gain deep insight into the health of your production and pre-production environments by using key performance metrics that help pinpoint the source of bottlenecks or other defects in application code, server resource, and external system dependencies.
Server-side Java applications are complex and often interact with tightly coupled data resources
such as databases, application integration middleware, and back-end systems like CICS and IMS. IBM
Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0, IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager
for CICS Transactions V6.0, and IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for IMS Transactions V6.0

Description
IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 is part of the IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager family of products that are designed to help manage and monitor complex J2EE business applications, including those that span outside of J2EE into back-end middleware environments such as CICS and IMS. IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 natively provides complete visibility into the state of the monitored resources as well as instance-level data from live applications running in test or production.
IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 makes it easier for you to manage your applications by eliminating the need to touch application code every time it cycles through a change process. This approach dramatically helps reduce the effort and expense incurred as you deploy new or updated versions of your applications, which is in contrast to other offerings that force users to perform additional steps such as recompiling, analyzing which classes and methods have been changed or added, and reinstrumenting those parts of the application so they can be visible to the management product.
IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 correlates deep-dive performance data gathered across multiple middleware environments (J2EE, CICS, IMS, and IBM WebSphere Portal) to help pinpoint hotspots in application code, regardless of how deep or in which run time. Administrators who are not familiar with an application's structure can use method-level diagnostics to help identify problems in the code and pass information to the appropriate application specialist or developer. This ability to monitor composite (multitier, partitioned) applications helps users untangle complex transactions, by viewing correlated traces of transactions that traverse through and across J2EE, by displaying both method and non-J2EE native program level invocations throughout the entire lifecycle of the transaction. Done from a single Web-based console, this helps make it possible to spot and isolate performance problems within complex transactions that would otherwise not be visible from a J2EE-only product.
IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 collects application data natively at the instance level which makes all code paths and call trees visible to the application monitor, not just those that have been instrumented. Advanced agent-based data collector technology is used to parse each transaction and evaluate it based on user-defined criteria to help detect if there is a performance issue present. For example, if an application support analyst suspects that there is a problem with specific customer "sell" transactions, the actual elapsed time for every sell event can be monitored. The analyst can also clock the central processing unit (CPU) consumed by each method invocation to quickly narrow down a problem event that takes place within tens of thousands of methods that support the sell invocation. Problem resolution time and effort can be greatly reduced; and, in combination with IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking, the analyst can help to fix problems by providing the granular detail directly to a developer without having to recreate the problem on the programmer's desktop.
Managing server and data collectors
IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 is a multitier monitoring infrastructure that consists of a J2EE-based managing server (the back-end component) and data collectors (agents) that are deployed to each monitored server, including optional CICS and IMS hosts. You must separately order the CICS and IMS host data collectors by specifying the following products as applicable:
For high availability and failover, managing server components implemented in Java can be distributed over multiple systems and the performance database can optionally reside on a dedicated server. Collection agents send real-time performance metrics to the managing server over network connections, providing availability, system resource, application event, and query-based data from the monitored application servers; and covering all application code running on production, testing, or development servers.
Managing console graphical interface
Deep-dive J2EE analytical data is displayed on the managing console which provides a single interface into all managed environments, J2EE servers, clusters, control regions, and other managed environments outside of J2EE such as CICS and IMS. The console is 100% HTML-based and uses JavaScript for page logic and menu-based navigation. There is never a requirement for thick-client desktop software or browser plug-in.
The managing console is highly graphical and provides numerous pages of meters, bars, charts, buttons, and other easy-to-understand controls. Data is also displayed in various tabular formats, many of which are hyperlinked or associated with drop-down menus to obtain deep performance data. The managing console is designed for users of varying disciplines across the software lifecycle to help quickly identify problematic areas of application performance and it scales to handle very large program traces.
Portal-based user interface for management and correlation
IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 is bundled with new IBM Tivoli Monitoring V6.1 infrastructure components that enable it to access the Tivoli Enterprise Portal (formerly CandleNet® Portal or CNP). These components are part of the IBM Tivoli Monitoring V6.1 solution package delivered with IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0, and help provide key business performance metrics for enhanced visualization and correlation with other IBM Tivoli Monitoring V6.1 monitored systems. Specifically, the IBM Tivoli Monitoring V6.1 solution package includes:
Note: Licensees of IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 will receive a limited use, no-charge license of IBM Tivoli Monitoring V6.1 bundled with IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 for distributed environments. IBM Tivoli Monitoring Services on z/OS® V6.1 is available for host environments and must be separately ordered by specifying program number 5698-A79. These limited use licenses are available at no charge, subject to use restrictions. You are not authorized to access or use, in any manner, certain components that are contained in these solution packages, including the monitoring agents (such as the operating system agents for Microsoft Windows, UNIX®, UNIX Log, and i/5) and the IBM Tivoli Universal Agent, unless you have paid for a license for IBM Tivoli Monitoring V6.1 and, if applicable, IBM Tivoli Monitoring Universal Agent. Refer to the License Information document for terms applicable to these programs.
IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 includes collection agents that directly provision the IBM Tivoli Monitoring V6.1 infrastructure by supplying performance data to the managing server, which can then be visualized in the Tivoli Enterprise Portal. This allows operations and support teams to create "workspaces" within the portal to visually manage and correlate critical metrics derived from managed J2EE servers, as well as any other systems monitored by IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON® technologies. By monitoring trends from resources like connection pools and Java virtual machine (JVM) memory functions, users can track the health of servers and automate event management by creating "situations" within the portal that provide alerts or autonomic "take actions" to keep systems running smoothly and adhering to service level objectives.
Some of the key Tivoli Enterprise Portal workspaces include:
These workspaces help operations and administrations staff avoid the inefficient task of wading through simplistic "red light/green light" indicators on a server-by-server basis to begin a problem diagnosis process. Such approaches do not scale when monitoring large numbers of systems common to most data centers, such as distributed clusters connected to mainframes and other systems. IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 helps solve this problem by providing an intelligent interface that presents the appropriate information needed by application support teams and developers to quickly diagnose the root cause of performance issues and fix or enable a workaround for a problem.

A U.S. Section 508 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) can be requested via IBM's Web site at the following
Value Unit pricing for eligible zSeries® IPLA programs enables a lower cost of incremental growth and enterprise aggregation. Each zSeries IPLA product with Value Unit pricing has a single price per Value Unit and a conversion matrix, called Value Unit Exhibit, for converting from some designated measurement to Value Units. Most commonly Millions of Service Units (MSUs) is the measurement designated by IBM to be converted to Value Units. Some other measurements are engines or messages. Since MSUs are the most common measurement, that measurement will be used for the remainder of this description.
Value Unit pricing offers price benefits for customers. For each zSeries IPLA program with Value Unit pricing, the quantity of that program needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions is referred to as the "required license capacity". Each of the various Value Unit Exhibits stipulate that the larger your required license capacity, the fewer Value Units per MSU you will need. Value Unit Exhibits are uniquely identified by a three digit code and referred to using the nomenclature VUExxx, where xxx is the three digit code.
Subsequent acquisitions of Value Unit priced programs offers additional price benefits for customers. The quantity of each zSeries IPLA program that you have acquired is referred to as "entitled license capacity". If you wish to grow your entitled license capacity for a zSeries IPLA program, the calculation to determine additional needed Value Units is based upon the number of Value Units already acquired.
For each zSeries IPLA program with Value Unit Pricing, you should:
To simplify conversion from the designated measurement to VUs or vice-versa, use the Value Unit Converter Tool. For additional information or to obtain a copy of the Value Unit Converter Tool, visit the Value Unit Converter Tool Web site
Note that Value Units of a given product cannot be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Units of another product.
To determine the required license capacity for the zSeries IPLA program you selected, refer to the Terms and conditions section.
IPLA licenses may be transferred from one machine to another within, but not limited to an enterprise. The customer may aggregate the capacity for all the processors the product is operated on to achieve a more economic price. This will result in a single Proof of Entitlement. It is the customer's responsibility to manage the distribution of Value Units within the limits of the entitlement of the product license.
Subscription and Support must cover the same capacity as the product license entitlement.
Subscription and Support will be available in the country in which the agreement is made.

Product positioning
IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 is an application management
product that functions either standalone or in concert with other IBM Tivoli offerings, such as IBM
Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking, to help ensure that your
applications are behaving properly and to diagnose different points of failure when they don't. It
supports WebSphere and other brands of application servers, specifically the business logic and
supporting resources that are provided within a robust J2EE implementation. By leveraging open
standards such as Java, JDBC, Application Response Measurement (ARM), and Web services, the IBM
Tivoli Composite Application Manager family of products are positioned to provide data center
personnel and application developers with an end-to-end view of application behavior, including the
effect the application has on its surrounding infrastructure. IBM Tivoli Composite Application
Manager for WebSphere V6.0 runs on both IBM zSeries and multivendor distributed systems of multiple types; and it
supports a wide range of operating systems on the widely used platforms in the industry today.
IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 competes in a relatively crowded field with a number of application monitoring products and vendors. Since it is not a boutique, niche-focused product, IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 should not be expected to support esoteric programming models or be the first on the block with the latest Java specification requests (JSR) implementation. Rather, you should be aware that there are likely no other vendors outside of IBM who can offer the breadth of coverage, not only across platform, but also across the entire application lifecycle.
IBM Tivoli is working in close partnership with the WebSphere, Rational, and Lotus® IBM brands to develop tools and processes that differentiate and deliver value to IT in ways that are novel and which leverage the vast resources of IBM. IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0, running in conjunction with IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking, integration with WebSphere Portal and Rational Eclipse tools are two examples of how powerful synergies form when high class products work together to help you solve your business problems. For example, IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0, in conjunction with IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking, can capture live application traces that can be exported directly to Rational Eclipse desktops over a Web services interface. This helps a developer make direct use of this information and jump directly to code modules needed to effect repair, while working within his or her integrated development environment (IDE).
IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 provisions the Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP) with application and server performance data within preconfigured or customized workspaces. The portal has advanced automation functionality to help you set up "situations" that perform various functions depending on the logic and workflow defined within the portal. Based on an evaluation of a comprehensive set of performance metrics gathered throughout the enterprise, Tivoli Enterprise Portal can take autonomic actions to help remedy problems such as hung transactions or balance load by adjusting resource parameters. For example, if an application hangs a JVM within a cluster, Tivoli Enterprise Portal can be used to restart that JVM without interrupting service for other users who are accessing the same application from other JVMs within the cluster.
IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 is tightly integrated with, and complementary to, IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking, which provides an enterprise-wide view of transaction health across all monitored (including non-WebSphere) systems and transports. IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 and IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking deliver value by actively monitoring transactions, pinpointing sources of congestion or failure, and then enabling deep-dive analysis of WebSphere server environments that may be the source of a problem.
IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0, IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for CICS Transactions V6.0, and IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for IMS Transactions V6.0 are available in English and Japanese on the planned availability date. However, the managing server can support the following language on the date shown below by installing the language support CD-ROM included in the deliverable package.

IBM Tivoli Enhanced Value-Based Pricing
IBM Tivoli software products are priced using IBM Tivoli's Enhanced Value-Based Pricing. The Enhanced Value-Based Pricing system is based upon the IBM Tivoli Environment-Managed Licensing Model, which uses a managed-environment approach whereby price is determined by what is managed rather than the number and type of product components installed.
For example, all servers monitored with IBM Tivoli's monitoring product (IBM Tivoli Monitoring) require entitlements sufficient for those servers. Other IBM Tivoli products may manage clients, client devices, agents, network nodes, users, or other items, and are licensed and priced accordingly.
Unlike typical systems management licensing models that require entitlements of specific software components to specific systems, the IBM Tivoli Environment-Managed Licensing Model provides the customer flexibility to deploy its IBM Tivoli software products within its environment in a manner that can address and respond to the customer's evolving architecture. That is, as the architecture of a customer's environment changes, the customer's implementation of IBM Tivoli software can be altered as needed without affecting the customer's license requirements (as long as the customer does not exceed its entitlements to the software).
Under Enhanced Value-Based Pricing, licensing and pricing of server-oriented applications are determined based upon the server's use in the customer's environment. Typically, such applications are licensed and priced in a manner that corresponds to each installed and activated processor of the server managed by the IBM Tivoli application to help correlate price to value while offering a simple solution.
Where a server is physically partitioned, this approach is modified. This partitioning technique is the approach used with systems that have either multiple cards or multiple frames, each of which can be configured independently. For servers capable of physical partitioning (for example, IBM's pSeries® Scalable POWERparallel Systems® servers, Sun Ultra servers, and HP Superdome servers), an entitlement is required for each processor in the physical partition being managed by the Tivoli application. For example, assume that a server has 24 processors installed in aggregate. If this server is not partitioned, entitlements are required for all 24 processors. If, however, it is physically partitioned into three partitions each containing eight processors, and Tivoli products were managing only one of the three partitions, then entitlements would be required for the eight processors on the physical partition managed by the IBM Tivoli application.
For servers with virtual or logical partitions, entitlements are required for all installed and activated processors on the server. For each IBM Tivoli application managing a clustered environment, licensing is based on the cumulative number of installed and activated processors on each server in the cluster. Where the cluster includes physically partitioned servers, the considerations described above concerning physically partitioned servers apply as well.
Enhanced Value-Based Pricing recognizes the convergence of RISC/UNIX® and Microsoft Windows/Intel technologies, in order to simplify the customers licensing requirements, and to provide a smoother, more scalable model. Pricing and licensing does not differentiate between non-zSeries® server platforms or operating systems. For some products, this platform neutrality extends to zSeries and other host servers as well.
IBM Integrated Facility for Linux (IFL)
This optional facility enables additional processing capacity exclusively for Linux workload, with no effect on the model designation of a zSeries or OS/390® server. Consequently, executing Linux workload on the IBM Integrated Facility for Linux will not, in most cases, result in any increased IBM software charges for z/OS, OS/390, VM, VSE, or TPF operating systems/applications. There is, as indicated, a charge associated with the IFL; and there may also be a charge for applications that run on the IFL.
The IFL may be dedicated to a single Linux-mode logical partition or it may be shared by multiple Linux-mode logical partitions. Installations should note that the Linux workspace enabled by this facility will not support any of the S/390 traditional operating systems (OS/390, TPF, VSE, or VM). Only Linux operations or Linux operating in conjunction with Virtual Image Facility, an environment that operates within a logical partition or in native S/390® mode and provides the capability to create multiple Linux images, are supported by the IBM IFL.
Millions of Service Units (MSU)
An MSU is defined as millions of Central Processing Unit (CPU) service units per hour; the measure of capacity used to describe the computing power of the hardware processors on which S/390 or zSeries software runs. Processor MSU values are determined by the hardware vendor, IBM, or Software Compatible Vendors (SCVs).
For more detailed information about zSeries software pricing, go to
Partitions
A server's resources (CPU, memory, I/O, interconnects and buses) may be divided according to the needs of the applications running on the server. This partitioning can be implemented with physical boundaries (Physical Partitions) or logical boundaries (Logical Partitions).
Physical Partitions are defined by a collection of processors dedicated to a workload and can be used with systems that have either multiple cards or multiple frames, each of which can be configured independently. In this method, the partitions are divided along hardware boundaries and processors, and the I/O boards, memory, and interconnects are not shared.
Logical Partitions are defined by software rather than hardware and allocate a pool of processing resources to a collection of workloads. These partitions, while separated by software boundaries, share hardware components and run in one or more Physical Partitions.
Processor ("per processor" charging under full capacity)
In full capacity charging, proof of entitlements must be acquired for all activated "processors" (available for use) that are on the server where the program or a component of the program is run.
Notes:
Managed Processor (charging under full capacity in the "managed environment")
Charges are based on the active processors on the machines in the computing environment affiliated with the program rather than on the server where the program is run. The managed processors which require proofs of entitlement (POE) are defined in the Prices section of the announcement or in the License Information's program unique terms.
Notes:
Server
A server is a computer system that executes requested procedures, commands, or applications to one or more clients and/or other devices over a network. Examples include, but are not limited to, file servers, print servers, mail servers, database servers, application servers, and Web servers.
Standby or backup systems
For programs running or resident on backup machines, IBM defines three types of situations: cold, warm, and hot. In the cold and warm situations, a separate entitlement for the copy on the backup machine is normally not required and typically no additional charge applies. In a hot backup situation, the customer needs to acquire another license or entitlements sufficient for that server. All programs running in backup mode must be solely under the customer's control, even if running at another enterprise's location.
As a practice, the following are definitions and allowable actions concerning the copy of the program used for backup purposes:
Cold A copy of the program may reside, for backup purposes, on a machine as long as the program is not started. There is no additional charge for this copy.
Warm A copy of the program may reside for backup purposes on a machine and is started, but is idling, and is not doing any work of any kind. There is no additional charge for this copy.
Hot A copy of the program may reside for backup purposes on a machine, is started, and is doing work. The customer must acquire a license or entitlements for this copy and there will generally be an additional charge.
Doing work, includes, for example, production, development, program maintenance, and testing. It also could include other activities such as mirroring of transactions, updating of files, synchronization of programs, data or other resources (for example, active linking with another machine, program, database, or other resource, and so on), or any activity or configurations that would allow an active hot switch or other synchronized switch over between programs, databases, or other resources to occur.
In the case of a program or system configuration that is designed to support a high availability environment by using various techniques (for example, duplexing, mirroring of files or transactions, maintaining a "heartbeat", active linking with another machine, program, database, or other resource, and so on), the program is considered to be doing work in the hot situation and a license or entitlement must be purchased.
Value Units
A Value Unit is a metric used to compute license quantities and is program specific.

Through the Passport Advantage Agreement, customers may receive discounted pricing based on their total volume of eligible products, across all IBM brands, acquired worldwide. The volume is measured by determining the total "Passport Advantage points value" of the applicable acquisitions. Passport Advantage points are only used for calculating the entitled Passport Advantage discount.
To determine the required Tivoli product configuration under Passport Advantage, the Tivoli Enhanced Value-Based Pricing Model applies. The customer's environment is evaluated on a per-product basis.
Use the following two-step process to determine the total "Passport Advantage points value":
The discounted pricing available through Passport Advantage is expressed in the form of Suggested Volume Prices (SVPs), which vary depending on the SVP level. Each SVP level is assigned a minimum total Passport Advantage point value, which must be achieved, in order to qualify for that SVP level.
Media packs and documentation packs do not carry Passport Advantage points and are not eligible for SVP discounting.

Additional information for products with reference-based terms zSeries IPLA sub-capacity programs with reference-based terms adds value to the parent program across the environment, regardless of where in environment the zSeries IPLA program executes.
An environment is defined as either a single/stand-alone machine or a qualified Parallel Sysplex®. Customers may have one or more different environments across their enterprise. To determine the required license capacity for each zSeries IPLA program with referenced-based terms, each environment should be assessed separately.
When a zSeries IPLA sub-capacity program with reference-based terms is used in a qualified Parallel Sysplex environment the required license capacity of the zSeries IPLA program must equal with the license capacity of the parent program across the Parallel Sysplex. Qualified Parallel Sysplex refers to one
Sub-capacity eligibility
To be eligible for sub-capacity charging on select zSeries IPLA programs, you must first implement and comply with all terms of either sub-capacity Workload License Charges (WLC) or sub-capacity Entry Workload License Charges (EWLC). To implement sub-capacity WLC or EWLC, a machine must be zSeries (or equivalent). On that machine:
For that machine, you must create and submit a Sub-Capacity Report to IBM each month. Sub-Capacity Reports must be generated using the Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT). For additional information or to obtain a copy of SCRT, visit the zSeries Software Pricing Web site
You must comply with all of the terms of the WLC or EWLC offering, whichever is applicable:
Additionally, you must sign and comply with the terms and conditions specified in the amendment to the IPLA contract "Amendment for zSeries Platform Programs Sub-Capacity Pricing (Z125-6929-02, or higher)". Once the amendment is signed, the terms in the amendment replace any and all previous zSeries IPLA sub-capacity terms and conditions.
To be eligible for sub-capacity pricing, the machine on which the eligible products are installed and running must be eligible for sub-capacity pricing terms and conditions. Software pricing at less than full machine capacity for eligible products apply when running
Sub-capacity pricing for eligible products is based on the current Program pricing methodology but the number of processors will be determined based on the sum of processors for all partitions where the program is defined (used). To obtain pricing at less than full machine capacity for eligible products, you are required to:
Sub-capacity utilization is determined based on the product's own execution as reported to IBM in accordance with the requirements for reporting sub-capacity utilization for products.
To be eligible for On/Off Capacity on Demand pricing, customers must be enabled for temporary
capacity on the corresponding hardware, and the required contract Z125-6611, Attachment for
Customer Initiated Upgrade and IBM On/Off Capacity on Demand Software must be signed prior to use.
