Toshiba® Global Commerce Solutions Self Checkout System 6 (machine type 4888) includes the following:
- Effective January 2013 all lane and Back Office System Server (BOSS) models will ship with SurePOS™ 785 (4900-785) as the system unit.
- A new Recovery DVD feature supports the Microsoft™ Windows™ Embedded for Point of Service (WEPOS) 1.1 preload on lanes with the SurePOS 785.

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions, a Toshiba and IBM® Company, will begin shipping the SurePOS 785 (4900-785) as the system unit on Back Office System Server (BOSS) and lane models effective January 2013. A new Recovery DVD feature will be released for use with Microsoft Windows Embedded for Point of Service (WEPOS) 1.1 as the selected operating system preload on a lane with the SurePOS 785 system unit.

The only software supported for use with Toshiba GCS Self Checkout System 6 is as follows:
Lane
- Checkout Environment for Consumer-Service (CHEC) Client Application V6.5 or higher
BOSS
- CHEC BOSS Application V6.5 or higher
Note: The version/release level of CHEC Client Application running on the lanes and CHEC BOSS Application on the server must match; for example, CHEC Client V6.6 on the lane with CHEC BOSS V6.6 on the server.

WEPOS recovery DVD for Microsoft preloads on Exx lane models
This recovery DVD can be used to return the system hard drive to the initial Microsoft preload that was shipped with the unit. The recovery DVD can be ordered with the initial Self Checkout Systems purchase or later as an MES.
When the recovery DVD is ordered as an MES, the entitled machine type model and serial number must be provided.
The recovery DVD can be used only on a machine licensed for that particular Windows OS.
The recovery DVD includes Microsoft Windows Preinstallation Environment (WINPE) software. The Microsoft Windows Preinstallation Environment software included with the system unit or software may be used for boot, diagnostic, setup, restoration, installation, configuration, test, or disaster recovery purposes only.
Note: WINPE contains a security feature that will cause the end-user customer's system to reboot without prior notification to the end-user customer after 24 hours of continuous use.
If a hard drive failure occurs, it is the customer's responsibility for reloading the software.
