|
| Overview |
Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions, a Toshiba and IBM Company, introduces TCxGravity . TCxGravity is a new browser-based point of sale (POS) application built on the IBM Sterling Commerce Order Management (OMS) enterprise infrastructure. This seamless solution provides retail clients with the ability to deploy POS as a critical store component based on common data and common services at the enterprise, resulting in a single view of the customer, items, promotions, and pricing. This application also benefits retailers by allowing for a single change to business logic for all applications and channels (of which POS is one).

| Description |
Toshiba TCxGravity draws significant advantage from leveraging IBM's market-leading Sterling Commerce Order Management platform, building and extending those enterprise services and data to support a feature-rich in-store application. This means Toshiba's solution infrastructure offers stability and maturity, on which to build the store-unique aspects for Point-of-Commerce. It is also important to note that the basic in-store application can be deployed as a stand-alone application, without the fully purchased and entitled distributed order management solution from IBM . Included with TCxGravity are the license rights to use IBM Sterling Commerce Order Management and IBM Sterling Store in the store channel.
The common data and common services are provided by the IBM Sterling Commerce Order Management solution, which is a leading distributed order management solution in use by many retailers today. This foundation is extended with additional data and services to meet the unique functional requirements of the store channel. It is also extended to provide common data and common services (that is, business functions) that can be flexibly deployed to meet the demanding performance and reliability requirements of the retail store channel. How and who interacts with a retailer's selling solution is rapidly changing and TCxGravity addresses this challenge by using the latest web technologies to provide a thin flexible user interface that can be used across a wide variety of devices that are available today (for example, traditional POS registers, mobile phones, tablets) and the new devices that will be available tomorrow.
Component definitions as part of the total solution
The heart of the next-generation POS solution is the TCxGravity application, which replaces your current in-store POS application. The Toshiba application combines critical functions including cash management, item entry, loss prevention, returns, tendering, and high availability in a flexible, yet stable platform. TCxGravity will become one of Toshiba's premier retail applications, serving retail environments with a rich set of functions. The base product contains many standard functions that meet retail industry and regulatory requirements.
The application addresses the needs of the empowered consumer through store-to-store and cross-channel scenarios. Store-to-store scenarios are ready for immediate use, other cross-channel scenarios described below are enabled but require deployment and licensing of the IBM Sterling Commerce Order Management components:
The application addresses the needs of the evolving retail store
The application addresses the need to optimize IT investments
Toshiba's solution provides a rich set of extension capabilities that includes data, business logic, rich set of configuration settings, reports, integration to third-party services, POS devices, and POS integration to third-party solutions, user interface, function, and receipts.
TCxGravity includes a payments module that supports credit card, debit, external check authorization, and gift card activations and redemption.
TCxGravity will be fully certified for Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council (SSC) - Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) Version 2.0 standard.
IBM Sterling Commerce Order Management and IBM Sterling Store enable "order and fulfill from anywhere" capability for the store channel. It provides store associates with near-real-time access to customer, order, product, and inventory information. It enables order lifecycle control, such as creation, adjustment, monitoring, and communication; inventory search, sourcing, and promising; and pick, pack, ship, and hold for pick-up.
IBM Sterling Store is designed to improve customer service and increase revenue by preventing lost sales; improve the customer buying experience by providing timely product and order information, and enabling the adjustment of orders, based on changing needs; improve inventory accuracy through better management and visibility; and improve store associate efficiency and effectiveness by providing timely order and inventory visibility.
IBM Sterling Store is one of the many channel deployment options available that allows your store personnel to manage the various order capture and fulfillment processes in a multistore environment. With the various cross-channel options supported by IBM Sterling Commerce Order Management, you can support all of the ways your customers choose to interact such as web, call center, store, and field sales-enabling "order from anywhere, fulfill from anywhere" capability.

Install
Install is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. An install is an installed copy of the program on a physical or virtual disk made available to be executed on a computer. Licensee must obtain an entitlement for each install of the program.
Client device
Client device is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. A client device is a single-user computing device or special-purpose sensor or telemetry device that requests the execution of or receives for execution a set of commands, procedures, or applications from or provides data to another computer system that is typically referred to as a server or is otherwise managed by the server. Multiple client devices may share access to a common server. A client device may have some processing capability or be programmable to allow a user to do work. Examples include, but are not limited to, actuators, appliances, automated teller machines, automatic meter readers, cash registers, disk drives, desktop computers, kiosks, notebook computers, personal digital assistants, point-of-sale terminals, sensors, smart meters, tape drives, and technical workstations. Licensee must obtain entitlements for every client device that runs, provides data to, uses services provided by, or otherwise accesses the program and for every other computer or server on which the program is installed.
The Product Identification (PID) number for the new initial base license of TCxGravity is 5639-PO1. The following is a description of each of the new feature codes:
5639-PO1 Toshiba TCxGravity Basic license one-time charge Feature Feature description number In-Store Offline Server Per Install w/ 1 Yr SWMA 0004 Per 250 Install w/ 1 Yr SWMA 0005 POS Application Per Client Device w/ 1 Yr SWMA 0006 Per 250 Client Device w/ 1 Yr SWMA 0007
These features must be selected to order a base license for each client and/or installation that TCxGravity will be loaded into and running on in each store.
The Client software application is the set of functionality that facilitates completing Point-of-Sale (POS) transactions, and placing, modifying, or fulfilling orders that are contained in a single store or cross many stores.
A TCxGravity client is defined as any device which utilizes significant POS services to create or modify an order. This includes devices intended for associate use such as stationary POS, kiosks, mobile tablets, smartphones or similar devices. Select this feature to purchase a license for each client device that the Client software application will be loaded and running on.
The In-Store Offline server software is the set of functionality that enables completion of in-store transactions on a backup, emergency or pass-through basis only if network connectivity to the enterprise is disrupted. In a pass-through configuration, the in-store order capture is immediately passed through from the store server to the enterprise server and is not a substitute for processing by the enterprise server other than on an emergency basis. Select this optional orderable feature to purchase a license for each installation of this server software.
When selecting client device or Offline Server, select media feature code 5806 for the client device and media feature code 5816 for the Offline Server (Per Install).

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered destroyed or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access.
