Master data management (MDM) is a top priority for many organizations as

asset. While master data (the high-value information such as customer, supplier,
partner, product, materials, and employee data) is critical for running a
business, it is typically scattered within heterogeneous application silos
across the enterprise.
IBM InfoSphere
Master Data Management Server enables companies to gain control over their
most critical information used by multiple systems, applications, and business
processes. It helps companies extract value from master data by centralizing
and managing multiple data domains and the relationships among those domains,
while providing comprehensive prebuilt functionality for flexibility and timeliness
in the implementation of MDM and the use of this critical information.
InfoSphere Master Data Management Server V8.5 builds on functionality delivered
in Version 8.0 to support multiple data domains, including the Party, Account,
and Product domains.
As part of the rapid deployment and loading emphasis of IBM InfoSphere
Master Data Management Server V8.5, three new chargeable components are introduced
as part of the product:
- IBM InfoSphere
Information Server for Master Data Management
- IBM InfoSphere
Information Server for Master Data Management for Non-Production Environments
- IBM InfoSphere
Information Server for Master Data Management Designer Client

InfoSphere Master Data Management Server V8.5 delivers extensive multiform
MDM functionality across multiple data domains and implementation styles.
It delivers greater flexibility, performance, and intelligence for MDM deployments.
InfoSphere Master Data Management Server delivers a comprehensive set of
shared platform capabilities and provides specific functionality for the Party,
Product, and Account domains. The core platform capabilities include:
- An extensible data and services model
- Multiple extension methods: Ability to dynamically extend or add to the
data model via multiple mechanisms (XML schemas via services, data/object
extensions, metadata definable values)
- Data model and service configuration (rename and disable parts of the
product)
- Ability to support federated deployments, including multiple application
instances
- Ability to support metadata management
- Integrated platform tooling for development, test, and deployment
- Unified Master Data Management Workbench for application configuration
and customization
- Data validation engine
- Message notification engine
- Common audit trail
- Tooling for guided setup of development environment
- Robust functionality with high performance and scalability
InfoSphere Master Data Management Server is a tiered product that can be
implemented as an MDM Server Foundation or full Transaction Hub tier, depending
on business need. The MDM Server Foundation tier helps clients who want to
focus on an initial "phase 1" deployment, or to maintain consolidation, registry,
or coexistence-type implementations. The Transaction Hub supports deeper,
more sophisticated MDM deployments. Platform capabilities are shared across
the MDM Server Foundation and Transaction Hub components. The MDM Server Foundation
tier of InfoSphere Master Data Management Server is included as part of the
Transaction Hub.
InfoSphere Master Data Management Server V8.5 delivers:
- Enhanced ease of use via new user interface and reporting capabilities
- A new sophisticated user interface generator for simplified user interface
creation, customization, and use. This model-driven, role-based generator
allows for the automatic generation and regeneration of comprehensive user
interfaces and supports integration with nongenerated user interface screens.
- Data stewardship user interface enhancements, including advanced vertical
collapse functionality that allows a data steward to review (in side-by-side
mode) and collapse multiple duplicate suspects at the same time.
- A new soft-attribute definition for the product user interface as part
of the InfoSphere Master Data Management Server Workbench feature.
- New reporting capabilities, delivered as samples, for data stewardship
and general performance management of InfoSphere Master Data Management Server.
The report selection values are entered through a new user interface. New
sample capabilities include reports for new contracts, system counts, high
net worth parties, suspects collapsed summary, person and organization suspects
requiring resolution, new suspects requiring resolution, new parties, client
claims, and party demographics.
- New rapid deployment capabilities to streamline batch data loading
- Prebuilt load jobs make it faster and easier to load data, supporting
the loading of very large volumes of data into IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management Server
via IBM InfoSphere
Information Server.
- Help customers get up and running faster, which can help drive down costs,
and allow a focus on deriving business value from mastering data more quickly.
- New features and enhancements for the Product, Account, and Party domains
- Product domain: Enhanced product and category attributes; enhanced product
search capabilities
- Account domain: New account agreement dynamic attributes; enhanced account
agreement management
- Party domain: Enhanced party hierarchy services

IPLA and Subscription and Support considerations
IPLA licenses can be transferred from one machine to another within, but
not limited to an enterprise. You may aggregate the capacity for all the processors
the product is operated on to achieve a more economic price. This will result
in a single Proof of Entitlement (PoE). It is your responsibility to manage
the distribution of Value Units within the limits of the entitlement of the
product license.
Subscription and Support must cover the same capacity as the product license
entitlement. Subscription and Support will be available in the country in
which the agreement is made.

Performance considerations
InfoSphere Master Data Management Server V8.5 operating environment
For best performance, run InfoSphere Master Data Management Server on a
dedicated system. The system should have restricted access to maintain security.
The remaining performance-related calibrations can be done during the implementation
phase, based on the usage of InfoSphere Master Data Management Server.
Planning information
Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance)
is included with licenses purchased through Passport Advantage and Passport
Advantage Express. Product upgrades and technical support are provided
by the Software Subscription and Support offering as described in the Agreements.
Product upgrades provide the latest versions and releases to entitled software,
and technical support provides voice and electronic access to IBM support organizations,
worldwide.

Charge metrics definitions
Processor Value Unit
Certain IBM InfoSphere
Master Data Management Server components are licensed on a Processor Value
Unit (PVU) basis. A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be acquired for the appropriate
number of value units based on all activated processor cores available for
use on the server.
A processor core is a functional unit within a computing device that interprets
and executes instructions. It consists of at least an instruction control
unit and one or more arithmetic or logic units. With multicore technology,
each core is considered a processor. Not all processor cores require the same
number of PVU entitlements. To calculate the number of PVUs required, refer
to the value unit table at

Resource Value Unit
IBM InfoSphere
Master Data Management Server is generally licensed based on the Resource
Value Unit (RVU) unit of measure. The exceptions to this are the IBM InfoSphere
Information Server for Master Data Management chargeable components (Processor
Value Unit licensing) and the IBM InfoSphere Information Server for Master
Data Management Designer Client chargeable component (Concurrent User licensing).
RVU entitlements are based on the quantity of a specific designated measurement
for the given program. A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be acquired for the
appropriate number of RVUs required for your environment, as determined in
accordance with the program terms. The RVU entitlements are specific to the
program and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with RVU entitlements
of another program. To determine how many RVUs to obtain for the program,
based on how the program is deployed in your environment, contact your IBM representative.
The measurements on which RVU entitlements are based for IBM InfoSphere
Master Data Management Server generally include the:
- Industry in which the customer's business operates
- Types of records managed by the IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management Server
- Foundation and Transaction Hub usage styles that are available to customers

RVU licensing applies to the following chargeable components of IBM InfoSphere

IBM does
not charge additional fees for nonproduction environments for products priced

Concurrent User
The IBM InfoSphere
Information Server for Master Data Management Designer Client chargeable component
is licensed on the Concurrent User unit of measure. A Concurrent User is a
shared user access to the component within or outside of your enterprise.
The component may be installed only on one computer or one server. The total
number of Concurrent Users simultaneously accessing the component at any moment
in time may not exceed the highest number of Concurrent Users authorized by
the Proof of Entitlement (PoE). You must have an entitlement for each Concurrent
User simultaneously accessing the component in any manner, directly or indirectly
(for example, via a multiplexing program, device, or application server),
through any means.
This new chargeable component is introduced for limited use only. For the

product license.

IBM warrants
that when the program is used in the specified operating environment, it will
conform to its specifications. The warranty applies only to the unmodified
portion of the program. IBM does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation
of the program or that IBM will correct all program defects. You are responsible
for the results obtained from the use of the program.
IBM provides
you with access to IBM databases containing information on known program
defects, defect corrections, restrictions, and bypasses at no additional charge.

maintain this information for at least one year after the original licensee
acquires the program (warranty period).
Money-back guarantee
If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are the
original licensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paid for it,
if within 30 days of your invoice date you return the program and its PoE
to the party from whom you obtained it. If you downloaded the program, you
may contact the party from whom you acquired it for instructions on how to
obtain the refund.
- For programs acquired under the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement,
this term applies only to your first acquisition of the program.

The program may be stored on the primary machine and another machine, provided
that the program is not in active use on both machines at the same time. You
may not copy and use this program on another computer without paying additional

is included with licenses purchased through Passport Advantage and Passport
Advantage Express. Product upgrades and technical support are provided
by the Software Subscription and Support offering as described in the Agreements.
Product upgrades provide the latest versions and releases to entitled software
and Technical Support provides voice and electronic access to IBM support organizations,
worldwide.
IBM includes
one year of Software Subscription and Support with each program license acquired.
The initial period of Software Subscription and Support can be extended by
the purchase of a renewal option, if available.
While your Software Subscription and Support is in effect, IBM provides you
assistance for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to)
questions, and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance via telephone and,
if available, electronic access, to your information systems (IS) technical
support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift
hours) of your IBM support
center. (This assistance is not available to your end users.) IBM provides Severity
