The IBM Proventia Network Intrusion Prevention System helps stop Internet threats before they impact your business. This intrusion prevention appliance delivers protection to all three layers of your network: core, perimeter, and remote segments. This preemptive protection, or protection that works ahead of the threat, is a proprietary combination of line-speed performance, security intelligence, and a modular protection engine that enables security convergence. The IBM Proventia Network Intrusion Prevention System delivers network protection that is designed to:

  • Stop threats before impact without sacrificing high-speed network performance
  • Protect networks, servers, desktops, and revenue-generating applications from malicious threats
  • Conserve network bandwidth and prevent network misuse and abuse from instant messaging and peer-to-peer file sharing
  • Prevent data loss and aid in compliance efforts
  • Provide a platform for security convergence that helps reduce the cost of deploying and managing point solutions

Customer setup. IBM installation can be ordered at an additional charge.

Warranty service

If required, IBM provides repair or exchange service depending on the types of warranty service specified for the GX5008-V2, GX5108-V2, and GX5208-V2. IBM will attempt to resolve your problem over the telephone, or electronically via an IBM Web site. You must follow the problem determination and resolution procedures that IBM specifies. Scheduling of service will depend upon the time of your call and is subject to parts availability. If applicable to your product, parts considered Customer Replaceable Units (CRUs) will be provided as part of the GX5008-V2, GX5108-V2, and GX5208-V2 standard warranty service.

Service levels are response-time objectives and are not guaranteed. The specified level of warranty service may not be available in all worldwide locations. Additional charges may apply outside IBM's normal service area. Contact your local IBM representative or your reseller for country- and location-specific information. The GX5008-V2, GX5108-V2, and GX5208-V2 are covered by the following type(s) of service.

Hardware warranty service

Machine Exchange Service - IBM will initiate shipment of a replacement GX5008-V2, GX5108-V2, or GX5208-V2 to your location. You are responsible for its installation and verification of its operation. You must pack the failing GX5008-V2, GX5108-V2, or GX5208-V2 into the shipping container that contained the replacement GX5008-V2, GX5108-V2, or GX5208-V2 and return the failing GX5008-V2, GX5108-V2, or GX5208-V2 to IBM. Transportation charges, both ways, are paid by IBM. You may be charged for the replacement GX5008-V2, GX5108-V2, or GX5208-V2 if IBM does not receive the failing GX5008-V2, GX5108-V2, or GX5208-V2 within 30 days of your receipt of the replacement GX5008-V2, GX5108-V2, or GX5208-V2.

The GX5008-V2, GX5108-V2, and GX5208-V2 contain preloaded software programs.

Program licensing

IBM International Program License Agreement including the License Information (LI) document and Proof of Entitlement (PoE) govern your use of the program. PoEs are required for all authorized use.

Program limited warranty

IBM warrants that when the program is used in the specified operating environment it will conform to its specifications. The warranty period is at least one year after the original licensee acquires the program.

Maintenance service

The GX5008-V2, GX5108-V2, and GX5208-V2 are eligible for support and maintenance under the terms and conditions of the IBM Support and Maintenance Policy for IBM ISS Products and Services (Z125-7818). The Policy Document can be found at the following Web site
