In January 2007, IBM® announced plans to support IBM General Parallel File System (GPFS) on the Microsoft® Windows® and Sun Solaris operating systems as a possible follow-on solution to the IBM TotalStorage® SAN File System.
IBM no longer intends to provide support for GPFS from a Sun Solaris client. However, earlier this year, IBM announced support for client access to GPFS file systems from a Windows operating system server.
