DESCRIPTION

TME 10 Module for Exchange is the most comprehensive solution for managing Microsoft Exchange environments throughout the enterprise. This product utilizes the TME 10 management framework to provide system monitoring, event management, policy-based management, software distribution (to clients only), and automated tasks for Exchange servers.

Use of TME 10 Module for Exchange requires the following TME 10 products:

  • TME 10 Framework (5697-FRA), V3.1 or V3.2

  • TME 10 Distributed Monitoring (5697-EMN), V3.0 or V3.5
To realize the full benefits of the product, the following TME 10 products are also recommended:
  • TME 10 Enterprise Console (5697-EAS), V2.6 or V3.1 (enables event forwarding)

  • TME 10 Software Distribution (5697-SWD), V3.1 (enables software distribution/installation)
When exercising the optional GEM instrumentation, the following products are required:
  • Java (TM) JDK 1.1.x

  • TME 10 Enterprise Console (5697-EAS), V2.6 or V3.1

  • TME 10 Distributed Monitoring (5697-EMN), V3.0 or V3.5

  • TME 10 GEM V1 (5697-B83) or TME 10 GEM V2 (5697-GEM)
Large organizations with an increasing number of, and reliance upon, Exchange servers and clients, may experience spiraling costs and complexity associated with managing the deployment, availability, automation, and administration of this important software resource. Point solutions that manage only a subset of these necessary activities actually risk compounding the complexity (and cost) of managing the application.

ORDERING INFORMATION

New Licensees

Orders for new licenses will be accepted now. Shipment will begin on the planned availability date.

New users of TME 10 Module for Exchange should specify:

          Type Model

5697 EXC

Basic License: To order a basic license, specify the program number and feature number 9001 for asset registration. Specify the 10/Flex charge feature numbers from the table below and the desired quantity (maximum 250 per feature number per order). Also, specify feature number 5809 for distribution medium.

10/Flex Charges, Per Server and Client Managed

                                       Per Managed Client
                  Per Managed Server One-Time Charge
Program Number/ One-Time Charge Feature Number
Name Feature Number (Qty of 1) (Qty of 250)

5697-EXC/ 0001 0002 0252 TME 10 Module for Exchange

Charges are computed by summing the number of servers and clients at the customer's installation that are managed by TME 10 Module for Exchange, then multiplying each sum by TME 10 Module for Exchange's charge associated with the server and client features, respectively.

An example will illustrate the simplicity. Suppose a customer has a network of 15 servers and 2,000 clients, and desires to install TME 10 Module for Exchange support for all servers, but for only 1,800 of the clients. The total license charge would be 15 times the charge per server of 5697-EXC, plus 1,800 times the charge per client of 5697-EXC. To install a TME 10 product on additional server and/or client machines in the network after initial installation, an MES order should be placed, specifying the applicable 10/Flex charge feature numbers from the table above and the desired quantity (maximum 250 per feature number per order).

TME 10 SUPPORT

Support must be ordered through program number 5697-SPT. During the first year of a license, even though support is included in the base program fee, a no-charge order must be placed under 5697-SPT by specifying feature number 9001 for asset registration and the "First-Year Standard Support, No Charge" feature number.

Orders under 5697-SPT establish entitlement records worldwide. If an order under 5697-SPT is not placed, a customer will not be entitled to support during the first year of a license.

Customers are notified prior to the end of the initial support period. The first year support feature numbers will then be converted to feature numbers for annual support billing at the same level of support elected during the initial support period unless the customer notifies IBM that they want to discontinue support. Once the subsequent year support feature numbers are in place, charges are automatically renewed annually unless support is cancelled by the customers.

Select from the feature numbers in the tables below.

TME 10 pricing offers easy support. The following support options are available:

  • Standard -- provides customer support during normal business hours

  • Extended -- provides customer support 24 hours per day, seven days per week
If an upgrade to extended support is desired at initial order of a license and during the first 12 months of a license, OR if support is desired after the first 12 months of a license, specify the applicable feature numbers from the tables below.

Standard Annual Support Option: The following support will be provided for a period of 12 months after the first installation of the TME 10 product; and thereafter, if the customer subscribes to the Standard Annual Support Option:

  • Corrections (PTFs) that fix substantial deviations of unmodified TME 10 products from the then-current code, publications, and/or informal documentation (that is, release notes and memos)

  • Software product updates that are improvements, extensions, and other changes that IBM, at its discretion, deems to be reasonable

  • Technical support that provides support via telephone, fax, and e-mail during normal IBM business hours in the customer's locality from Monday through Friday, except local holidays, and:
    • Supplies work-arounds for problems (where known)

    • Answers questions

    • Provides patches where they exist

    • Supplies a reasonable amount of assistance by mail or telephone in the event of difficulties in the use of, or the interpretation of, results from a TME 10 product
Extended Annual Support Option: The Extended Annual Support Option includes and extends the support provided in the Standard Annual Support Option to include technical support via telephone seven days per week, 24 hours per day. When a customer is notified about the upcoming termination of the initial no-charge support period, the customer may choose to acquire this option for subsequent years. An MES order must be entered for the TME 10 product's charges using the applicable feature numbers from the table below. After an MES order is entered, the charges will automatically renew annually unless this option is cancelled by the customer.

Extended Support Upgrade: During the first year of a license, the customer can upgrade to the Extended Support Option by ordering the applicable one-time charge (OTC) feature numbers from the table below. The OTC feature numbers may be specified on the initial order or later via MES during the first year only. Ordering the OTC feature numbers will not result in an extension of the initial annual support period.

In subsequent years, if a customer has acquired the Standard Annual Support Option and then wants to upgrade to the Extended Annual Support Option, an MES order must be entered to discontinue the Standard Annual Support Option feature numbers and to add the Extended Annual Support Option feature numbers. This will start a new annual support period under the Extended Annual Support Option.

The feature numbers in the following tables are orderable under 5697-SPT.

First-Year Standard Support, No Charge:

                                       Per Managed Client

Note: Neither the Standard Support Option nor the Extended Support Option is transferable among TME 10 products. Support Option feature numbers must be ordered, if desired, for each licensed product. The quantity of the billable feature numbers for support must be equal to the number of servers and/or clients that are licensed to the customer, if support is desired.

Basic Machine-Readable Material: To order, select the feature number of the desired distribution medium:

10/Flex Pricing

With the introduction of the TME 10 products, IBM introduced a new and exciting method of pricing called 10/Flex. 10/Flex charges, which are use-based, are designed to give the customer the ultimate in simplicity and selectivity, which is essential in a dynamic and growing distributed network environment. 10/Flex's important characteristics are:

  • Installation Flexibility: Since the 10/Flex license is not tied to a specific machine serial number or to a machine type, the customer is free to move or copy the code to any machine in the network as conditions and workloads change, up to the limit of the features acquired.

  • Simplicity and Predictability: Customers pay a flat use-based charge, once per product, at the initiation of the license. The customer may then install the components of the product as many times as needed, up to the limits of the number of features acquired, without additional charge and without notifying IBM. TME 10 Module for Exchange uses the customer's network size as the basis for computing 10/Flex charges.

  • Easy Support Options: Product support, help desk support, and follow-on releases are also simply priced as a percentage of the customer's license charge, with two easily understood options.
    1. Standard provides customer support during normal business hours

    2. Extended provides support 24 hours per day, seven days per week
Charges are computed by adding the number of servers and clients at the customer's installation that are managed by TME 10 Module for Exchange, then multiplying each sum by TME 10 Module for Exchange's charge associated with the server and client features, respectively.

An example will illustrate the charges' simplicity.

Since the kind of machine on which the code runs, or its specific serial number, is NOT relevant, the customer has the flexibility to move the code among any system, up to the limit of the number of server and client features acquired for each product. If the customer acquires more features than there are servers and clients physically installed, the customer has room to expand the network without incurring additional charges.

Servers and clients are defined in the context of a distributed environment. A server is a computer whose principal purpose is to provide data and/or services to other computing systems. Some types of servers are database servers, application servers, file servers, print servers, communication servers, and Internet servers. A client is a computer that uses the data or services from one or more servers. A computer is designated as either a server or a client, depending on its predominant use.

TME 10 Module for Exchange and its components may be copied to additional machines, up to the limit of the features ordered, at no charge, without notifying IBM. Charges apply only to the features ordered--one per each managed server. Features may not be transferred among products. There are two ways to order products and their features.

  1. A single copy of TME 10 Module for Exchange may be ordered and replicated as necessary. Sufficient features would be ordered on this license to support all managed servers across all replicated copies of that product.

  2. Multiple copies of TME 10 Module for Exchange may be ordered with each one including the appropriate number of features to support ONLY those servers managed by that copy of the product.

10/Flex Pricing

                                       Per Managed Client
