Overview

NetView (R) Access Services guards your network and its applications against unauthorized usage. It also guides authorized users to applications distributed across the network.

This delivery of NetView Access Services provides enhancements in the areas of security, menu formats, and logon access.

Security Enhancements

Improved extended group handling enables NetView Access Services to use the definitions in the RACF (TM) database to check whether a user or group of users is authorized to access a VTAM (R) application. NetView Access Services does not allow a user to access an application if the user is not authorized for the application by RACF.

Additional Formats

A new display format allows you to display up to 42 applications on a single screen. Additionally, with this delivery of NetView Access Services the limit of 99 applications in the NetView Access Services application selection panel has been removed. Using the new compact format, it is possible to display up to 999 application selection screen pages, each page containing 42 applications.

New Logon Function

This function enables you to define terminals that are to be logged on to NetView Access Services without the logon panel being displayed. This feature allows the application menu to be displayed directly when terminals are powered on. For additional product information, refer to Software Announcement 293-767, dated December 21, 1993, and Software Announcement 294-430 dated July 12, 1994.
