DESCRIPTION
CICS COMMAND-LEVEL APPLICATION

SCHEDULE
The planned availability date is July 26, 1991.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
SPECIFIED OPERATING ENVIRONMENT
This product uses only existing attachment interfaces.
MACHINE REQUIREMENTS:  DMS/CICS/VS is designed to run on IBM
processors that support the CICS family of products.  The minimum
storage requirements are the same as those of CICS.  A magnetic tape
unit is required to install the DMS/CICS/VS programming materials.
Terminal support for IBM 3270 terminals is provided by CICS.
Specific terminal types and features supported are listed in the
DMS/CICS/VS General Information manual (GH20-0125).
PROGRAMMING REQUIREMENTS:  DMS/CICS/VS is written in System/370 (TM)
Assembler Language.  The interactive portion operates under control
of supported releases of these CICS products:
o   CICS/OS/VS Version 1 (5740-XX1)
o   CICS/DOS/VS Version 1 (5746-XX3)
o   CICS/MVS (TM) Version 2 (5665-403)
o   CICS/VSE Version 2 (5686-026)
o   CICS/ESA Version 3 (5665-083).
       DMS/CICS/VS Version 1 Release 5 is generated at CICS/MVS
Version 2.1 and CICS/DOS/VS Version 1.7 levels.  Minor changes may be
required for other CICS environments.  Consult the Installation and
Operation manual (SH20-0004) for specific details.
Requirements are the same for CICS as described in the CICS
General Information manual (GC33-0155).
DMS/CICS/VS is supported in Multiple Virtual Storage/Extended
Architecture (MVS/XA (TM)) only in 24-bit mode.  VSAM is required if
the IAG is to be used.  Users may also require PL/I, COBOL, COBOL II,
or RPG II to write user exits.
DL/I data base users will require a supported release of:
o   IMS/VS Version 1 (5740-XX2)
o   IMS/VS Version 2 (5665-332)
o   IMS/ESA (TM) Version 3 (5665-408)
o   DL/I DOS/VS Version 1 (5746-XX1).
(TM) Trademark of International Business Machines Corporation.
COMPATIBILITY:  DMS/CICS/VS Version 1 Release 5 is upwardly
compatible with DMS/CICS/VS Version 1 Release 4.
SECURITY, AUDITABILITY AND CONTROL
DMS/CICS/VS runs as an application program under the CICS
family of products and is subject to the controls of that
environment.  In addition, DMS/CICS/VS provides end-user sign-on
validation to control access to transactions.
Consult the Programming Reference manual (SH20-2209) for
specific details.
User management is responsible for evaluation, selection and
implementation of these features, for administrative procedures and
for appropriate application controls in application systems.
If sensitive data is sent over external communications
facilities, user management may wish to pursue the application of
cryptography.
