TECHNICAL INFORMATION
COMPATIBILITY: BTS procedures, commands and simulator statements
developed for the Batch Terminal Simulator (BTS) program offering
(5796-PGT) and for the BTS Program Product Release 1 are upward
compatible with BTS Release 2 with the one exception. The TYPE
keyword of the ./T BTS command has changed for BMP application
programs. ./T TYPE=MSG must be specified for message driven BMP
application programs. Either ./T TYPE=DLI or TYPE=BMP may be
specified for non-message driven BMP application programs.
SECURITY, AUDITABILITY, AND CONTROL
If a log data set is provided for a Batch Terminal Simulator
run, normal data base logging can be accomplished as usual by IMS/VS.
However, no log records associated with teleprocessing activity are
produced. The log data set may be used for forward recovery of an
IMS/VS data base data set, to backout data base changes made by a
transaction that did not complete successfully or to backout data
base changes made by a transaction that did complete successfully,
but only for the last Program Specification Block (PSB) scheduled by
BTS.
PLANNING INFORMATION
SYSTEM INTEGRITY: IBM will accept APARs describing situations where
the installation of the Batch Terminal Simulator introduces an
exposure to the system integrity of MVS. See IBM Programming
Announcement dated October 21, 1981. This program is intended to run
unauthorized.
