Description
Bottom rule

Today's applications increase demands on data systems and many IT organizations are struggling to overcome the challenges of time to value, cost, and risk when it comes to deploying and managing these systems. On one hand, the volume of information flowing through companies continues to increase at an alarming rate. At the same time, users expect instantaneous response and 100% uptime. Meeting these expectations is often difficult, time consuming, and expensive.

IBM PureData System for Transactions T1500 provides a smarter way to meet today's data management challenges. As a member of the IBM PureSystems™ family of expert integrated systems, this system provides a ready-to-run database cluster platform, which is optimized specifically for transactional (OLTP and batch) processing database workloads. The system includes the compute, storage, and network resources and data management software integrated into a complete system that is tuned to provide fast response time with high scalability that is standard. By adopting this system with built-in data management expertise, you can reduce complexity, accelerate time to value, and improve the IT economics for your data systems.

The storage in these systems is a balanced mix between hard disks and solid state disks. Intelligence built into PureData System helps to optimize the placement of data across these storage devices such that data accessed most frequently and recently is stored on the faster solid state disks. The system monitors disk usage helping to prevent hotspots and resulting in improved performance. Adaptive compression is also built in to the storage system.

The components in PureData System for Transactions are designed for redundancy so that the system can recover from any single failure.

IBM DB2 Enterprise Server Edition V10.1 is preinstalled on the PureData System. A purchase of a particular configuration of PureData System includes entitlement to run this product up to the total capacity of that configuration.

Electrical and power requirements

The following information shows both the maximum label rated based on the hardware configuration and measured maximum power requirements for the PureData System for Transactions T1500 System rack. The actual power consumption will vary depending upon the workloads running on the system and the typical power consumption values are expected to be lower than the maximum rated power. When planning the electrical system, it is important to use maximum label values to account for internal or environmental conditions that result in power consumption. The measured maximum can be used for comparison with other integrated system vendors.

Notes :

Standards

IBM PureData System for Transactions T1500 supports or complies with the following standards:

Equipment approvals and safety equipment approval and safety

Operating environment

IBM PureData System for Transactions T1500 is designed to operate in the chassis and nodes are designed to meet ASHRAE Class A2.

Power on (2)

Power off (3)

Storage (non-operating)

Shipment (nonoperating) (8)

(2) Chassis is powered on.

(3) Chassis is removed from original shipping container and is installed but not in use, for example, during repair, maintenance, or upgrade.

(4) A - Derate maximum allowable temperature 1 C/175 m above 950 m.

(5) 5 degrees C/hr for data centers employing tape drives and 20 C/hr for data centers employing disk drives.

(6) The minimum humidity level for class A3 is the higher (more moisture) of the -12 C dew point (DP) and the 8% relative humidity. These intersect at approximately 25 degrees C. Below this intersection (25 degrees C), the DP (-12 degrees C) represents the minimum moisture level, while above it relative humidity (8%) is the minimum.

(7) Moisture levels lower than 0.5 degrees C DP, but not lower than -10 degrees C DP or 8% relative humidity, can be accepted if appropriate control measures are implemented to limit the generation of static electricity on personnel and equipment in the data center. All personnel and mobile furnishings and equipment must be connected to ground via an appropriate static control system. The following items are considered the minimum requirements:

(8) The equipment acclimation period is 1 hour per 20 degrees C of temperature change from the shipping environment to the operating environment.

(9) Condensation is acceptable, but not rain.

Cooling requirements

Limitations

Solid-state memory cells have an intrinsic, finite number of cell write cycles. The maximum number of write cycles for these devices is defined as total bytes written.

IBM is not responsible for replacement of hardware that has reached total bytes written. Device failure indications may include:

Statement of good security practices

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered destroyed or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective. IBM does not warrant that systems and products are immune from the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
