Order management enhancements

Store-based fulfillment: New capabilities in this release let companies utilize a store as a fulfillment center to satisfy customer demand using excess and slow moving supply on store shelves. Companies can now:

Integration with parcel systems and carriers for updates and documents is also supported with this release.

Fulfillment location capacity: Enhancements in this release help prevent the overloading of a distribution center, store, warehouse, or drop-ship vendor due to proximity or cost reasons. If a location is becoming overwhelmed with sourcing requests for a particular day, a capacity quota can be set that will re-direct the sourcing requests to an alternative location.

The number of units that can be released in a day can be defined, and once a sourcing location reaches that capacity, the system will automatically source from the next optimal location. The definition of location capacity is typically based on the number of units released to that distribution center per store per day, regardless of the number of orders or releases. If this is the only location for this inventory item, or the company prefers, the order will be scheduled for release the following day.

There may be occasions where a distribution center or store is rendered non-operational. In such an event, the company can designate the location as "ineligible" for the day and override or shut down orders destined for the location. In this case, the fulfillment request will be sent to an alternative location or be fulfilled on the following available day.

Reverse authorization: This enhancement helps provide finer control over when and how much authorization is open for an order during various order operations. A new configuration supports different credit card types with different reversal strategies. It also provides the ability to match settlement of invoices to the correct charges and authorizations via dynamic mapping.

Miscellaneous payment enhancements: These payment enhancements support a number of industry requirements.

Returns information: This release adds returns information to the datamart to assist the business user in the analysis of key returns information. This enhancement helps the business user identify potential issues in the fulfillment process or product quality and can help improve customer and partner relationships. Returns information includes:

Commerce enhancements

Integrated search: Integrated search enhancements enable business users to improve customer search results by selecting the product attributes for facet display in the storefront for different categories.

Search engine optimization (SEO): Enhancements in this release include SEO-rich snippets support in the starter store pages and SEO data loading support through catalog comma-separated value (CSV) files.

Business user tooling: Enhancements in this release can help business users improve productivity by:

Commerce and order management integration

Order management-enabled commerce helps to establish an end-to-end commerce business flow from shopping to fulfillment with WebSphere Commerce through the integration of inventory, order, pricing, and promotions with IBM Sterling Order Management. Businesses can:

Statement of good security practices
Bottom rule

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered destroyed or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective. IBM does not warrant that systems and products are immune from the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.

IBM Electronic Services
Bottom rule

IBM has transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to help you achieve higher system availability. Electronic Services is a web-enabled solution that offers an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support available for IBM servers. These services are designed to provide the opportunity for greater system availability with faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. Electronic Services comprises two separate, but complementary, elements: Electronic Services news page and Electronic Services Agent.

The Electronic Services news page is a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems.

The Electronic Service Agent™ is no-additional-charge software that resides on your server. It monitors events and transmits system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, client-defined timetable. The Electronic Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM . Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to deliver proactive service that may result in higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent is made available to IBM service support representatives when they help answer your questions or diagnose problems. Installation and use of IBM Electronic Service Agent for problem reporting enables IBM to provide better support and service for your IBM server.
