This updated version of IBM Production Imaging Edition V5.0 includes the latest versions of IBM Datacap Taskmaster V8.0.1, IBM FileNet Content Manager V5.1, IBM FileNet Business Process Manager V5.1 components, and Daeja ViewONE Pro, together with the notable inclusion of IBM Forms V4.0 (Development and Test License only) and the Bulk Import Tool for IBM FileNet Content Manager.
IBM Production Imaging Edition enables customers to turn paper into document images, store, manage those images in a content management repository, route those images to the right person at the right time, and perform tasks with those images.

Enhancements include the new features from the respective component products, already detailed in announcements for IBM Datacap Taskmaster V8.0.1, IBM FileNet Content Manager V5.1, and IBM FileNet Business Process Manager (BPM) V5.1. They include:
- IBM Content Engine Bulk Import Tool, which while shipped as part of IBM FileNet Content Manager V5.1, is only available to IBM Production Imaging Edition users (automatically entitled), or users that purchase the Bulk Import Tool (refer to the separate Bulk Import Tool in Software Announcement 211-508, dated October 25, 2011).
- IBM Forms V4.0, which is added to BPM V5.1 and therefore included in IBM Production Imaging Edition for the first time. Note however, that this is a development and test license only, for IBM Forms V4.0. That means, if customers plan to deploy IBM Forms in a production environment, they will need to purchase the appropriate IBM Forms V4.0 license.

Customer responsibilities
Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) is included with licenses purchased through Passport Advantage and Passport Advantage Express®. Product upgrades and technical support are provided by the Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) offering as described in the Agreements. Product upgrades provide the latest versions and releases to entitled software, and technical support provides voice and electronic access to IBM support organizations, worldwide.
IBM includes one year of Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) with each program license acquired. The initial period of Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if available.
Security, auditability, and control
IBM Production Imaging Edition uses the security and auditability features of the host software.
The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities.

Charge metrics definitions
User Value Unit (UVU)
UVU is the metric by which this program is licensed. UVU entitlements are based on the number of users for the given program. A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for the appropriate number of UVUs required for your environment as defined by the specific program terms. The UVU entitlements are specific to the program and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with UVU entitlements of another software program. UVU licensing offers you price benefits for customers by enabling a lower cost of incremental growth of resources. To understand these benefits of UVU licensing, and to determine how many UVUs to obtain for the program, please contact your IBM representative.
The subject programs have a structure for licensing and pricing designed for clarity, simplicity and unity with other products in the IBM Enterprise Content Management portfolio. The former approach relied upon licensing servers and users - with users licensed on a Named, Concurrent, ebusiness, Employee and External basis. This has been replaced with a new approach based on Value Units (VU's), with a primary focus on user access.
User Value Units (UVUs)
Three types of UVUs are available:
- Authorized (AUVU): For selective licensing of users who are internal to the organization. It replaces named, concurrent and ebusiness user licensing.
- External (XUVU): For licensing of users who are external to the organization. It replaces external user licensing and ebusiness user licenses for certain products.
- Employee (EUVU): For collectively licensing all users who are internal to the organization. It replaces Enterprise License Agreement (ELA) employee licensing.
Product pricing
Each product has a fixed price per UVU. Customers license the appropriate number of UVUs to provide access to a corresponding user population.
Cumulative volume discounting
As the user quantity increases, the number of UVUs increase albeit at a slower rate. Value Unit license conversion tables establish the required number of UVUs for a specified number of users.
Volume discounting examples:
- 100 authorized users require 85 AUVUs.
- 1,000 authorized users require 600 AUVUs.
- 5,000 authorized users require 2,500 AUVUs.
Content Manager configuration example:
- Content Manager AUVU price = $Y per AUVU
- 5,000 authorized users require 2,500 AUVUs
- Total price = $Y x 2,500
Resource Value Units
Three types of Resource-based Value Units (RVUs) are available for licensing select products and options:
- Pages Per Month Resource Value Units (PRVUs) are perpetual licenses to install and run the licensed program on one (1) or more scanner stations or computer devices and to process up to a defined number of pages per calendar month.
- Terabyte Resource Value Units (TRVUs) are perpetual licenses to store up to a defined number of Terabytes of content on Image Services storage devices and supported P8 Fixed File Stores.
- Processor Value Unit (PVU) licensing for Distributed software comprises of perpetual licenses for each processor core on which the software is deployed. More information about PVU licensing can be found at this location
Although the subject programs are now offered under a new, streamlined licensing and pricing model, the function of the products has not changed from that of previously available offerings.

IBM has transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to help you achieve higher system availability. Electronic Services is a Web-enabled solution that offers an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support available for IBM servers. These services are designed to provide the opportunity for greater system availability with faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. Electronic Services comprises two separate, but complementary, elements: Electronic Services news page and Electronic Services Agent.
The Electronic Services news page is a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems.
The Electronic Service Agent™ is no-additional-charge software that resides on your server. It monitors events and transmits system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, client-defined timetable. The Electronic Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to deliver proactive service that may result in higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent is made available to IBM service support representatives when they help answer your questions or diagnose problems. Installation and use of IBM Electronic Service Agent for problem reporting enables IBM to provide better support and service for your IBM server.
