InfoSphere® Optim™ System Analyzer for SAP Applications is a web-based application that understands the DNA of SAP and analyzes SAP systems to measure the impact of change on your system and provides real-time diagnostics to solve application life cycle management challenges.

It automates analysis across the SAP life cycle and enables you to:

  • Perform intelligent system impact analysis across the SAP landscape
  • Quickly and automatically gain answers to life cycle questions
  • Reduce learning time with guided customization and composition
  • Reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) with reusable templates

The Optim Business Process Analyzer component:

  • Includes an embedded database engine
  • Stores business process models on a local server
  • Can be configured to access one or more SAP systems to provide performance history data or integration with SAP Solution Manager

The SAP components required for Solution Manager integration are included as a transport to be installed on the appropriate SAP systems. The Optim Business Process Analyzer server machine requires network connections to each client machine, and to each of the SAP systems used with Optim Business Process Analyzer.

InfoSphere Optim System Analyzer for SAP Applications is a powerful diagnostic and impact analysis tool that can automatically identify SAP system changes and help users understand the impact of those changes. This tool can transform the entire life cycle process by helping to increase the accuracy of system analysis and reduce the entire project timeline.

The new InfoSphere Optim Business Process Analyzer component can assign business process context to the data that is analyzed by Optim System Analyzer by performing automatic business process discovery and simplifying business process management tasks.

The Optim Business Process Analyzer enables you to create and maintain models that represent an organization's SAP or non-SAP business processes. These models provide a consistent means of documenting and testing an SAP implementation. The Optim Business Process Analyzer Business Definition Layer (BDL) models are presented as a hierarchy of object types in the Optim Business Process Analyzer main screen.

InfoSphere Optim System Analyzer for SAP applications is a diagnostic tool that will automatically identify SAP system changes and help you understand their impact. This web-based application combines a powerful analytical engine with nearly 200 prebuilt templates that support major life cycle events such as application upgrades, support packs, and SAP system-to-system synchronization, by automatically detecting any differences and identifying needed test cases.

  • Leverages a drag-and-drop GUI workflow to help identify impacted executables
  • Provides insight on which data elements will be impacted, to help define the subset environment to satisfy those specific requirements
  • Analyzes the "before" and "after" images of the data to automatically detect any differences, eliminating the manual effort of retrieving and comparing SAP data
  • Provides detailed analysis, more precise diagnostics, and advanced reporting directly out of SAP, supporting efforts to reduce the time, cost, complexity, and risks associated with SAP problem solving

Processor Value Unit (PVU)

PVU is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. The number of PVU entitlements required is based on the processor technology (defined within the PVU table by processor value, brand, type, and model number at the website below) and the number of processors made available to the program. IBM continues to define a processor, for the purpose of PVU-based licensing, to be each processor core on a chip. A dual-core processor chip, for example, has two processor cores. Licensee can deploy the program using either Full Capacity licensing or Virtualization Capacity (Sub-Capacity) licensing according to the Passport Advantage Sub-Capacity Licensing Terms (see webpage below). If using Full Capacity licensing, Licensee must obtain PVU entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores1 in the physical hardware environment made available to or managed by the program, except for those servers from which the program has been permanently removed. If using Virtualization Capacity licensing, Licensee must obtain entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores made available to or managed by the program, as defined according to the Virtualization Capacity License Counting Rules at

An Activated processor core is a processor core that is available for use in a physical or virtual server, regardless of whether the capacity of the processor core can be or is limited through virtualization technologies, operating system commands, BIOS settings, or similar restrictions.

Notes:

  • Some programs may require licenses for the program and what is being managed. In that case, the following applies: In addition to the entitlements required for the program directly, Licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the processor cores managed by the program.
  • Some programs may be licensed on a managed basis only. In that case, the following applies: Instead of the entitlements required for the program directly, Licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the processor cores managed by the program.
  • A few programs on an exception basis may be licensed on a referenced basis. In that case, the following applies: Rather than obtaining entitlements for the activated processor cores available to the program, Licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the environment made available to the referenced program as if the program itself were executing everywhere the referenced program was executing, independent of the basis on which the referenced program is licensed.

Fixed term license

The Initial Fixed Term License plus Software Subscription and Support term license grants the right to:

  • Use the software for a limited period only (most commonly 12 months).
  • Receive Software Subscription and Support (previously referred to as Software Maintenance) for the period of the term. While in effect, Software Subscription and Support authorizes licensee to use the most current commercially available version, release, or update, should any be made available, as well as receive support for the program.
  • At the end of each fixed term (most commonly 12 months), the license may be renewed for an additional fixed term (at the prevailing price). When licensee renews the Fixed Term License in the second term, and in each term thereafter, this is referred to as a Subsequent Fixed Term License plus Software Subscription and Support. If the license is not renewed, licensee will no longer have the rights to use the software, will no longer be entitled to the benefits of Software Subscription and Support, and licensee must destroy all copies of the software.

Processor Value Unit (PVU) sub-capacity licensing

This software product is eligible for sub-capacity licensing. Customers must accept the terms of the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement Attachment for Sub-Capacity Licensing Terms (Attachment), and must obtain PVU Proofs of Entitlement (PoEs) for the maximum processor core capacity available to an eligible sub-capacity product when deployed in an eligible virtualization environment. This is also referred to as sub-capacity or virtualization capacity licensing.

Customers must use the IBM License Metric Tool unless they meet the exceptions described in the Attachment.

Licensing

IBM International Program License Agreement including the License Information document and Proof of Entitlement (PoE) govern your use of the program. PoEs are required for all authorized use. Part number products only, offered outside of Passport Advantage, where applicable, are license only and do not include Software Maintenance.

This software license includes Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance).

These programs are licensed under the IBM Program License Agreement (IPLA) and the associated Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance, which provide for support with ongoing access to releases and versions of the program. IBM includes one year of Software Subscription and Support with the initial license acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period of Software Subscription and Support can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if available. These programs have a one-time license charge for use of the program and an annual renewable charge for the enhanced support that includes telephone assistance (voice support for defects during normal business hours), as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect.
