Today, IBM® Tivoli® products provide significant functionality that supports IBM zEnterprise environments. Tivoli intends to provide additional capabilities made possible with Unified Resource Manager APIs.
Monitoring and discovery
Tivoli monitoring and discovery solutions currently provide visibility and automated discovery of the end-to-end infrastructure across the enterprise. Tivoli intends to take advantage of new information made available via the Unified Resource Manager APIs to further compliment existing integrated end-to-end monitoring, alerting, and discovery views across the Tivoli portfolio with visibility and automated discovery of the zEnterprise ensemble. This is intended to include the ability to monitor in the context of workloads and to produce events based on business rules for those workloads.
Cloud computing and data center discovery
Tivoli cloud computing and data center automation solutions currently provide provisioning and service delivery capabilities for zEnterprise . IBM intends to enhance this capability to optimize delivery of workloads and business services, which more fully leverage the capabilities of the zEnterprise platform.
IBM Tivoli System Automation solutions for end-to-end application automation currently provide high availability for applications across heterogenous and virtualized environments. Tivoli intends to enhance this capability with full support of the new APIs regardless of where the application components run within the zEnterprise ensembles. This is intended to provide advanced policy-based automation rules to enable stop/start/move of application components within the zEnterprise system along with providing high availability and resiliency of application components.
IBM Tivoli Workload Automation solutions currently provide end-to-end workload automation with the ability to take system and server resource contention and utilization into account when placing application workloads. Tivoli intends to provide a more tailored workload management solution for zEnterprise ensembles to include robust workload optimization according to business policies, exploitation of virtualization capabilities, energy management, and dynamic infrastructure support.
Business service management
IBM Tivoli Business Service Manager, the premier business service manager, currently provides one of the most fully integrated visualization engines for helping to guarantee business service levels. Tivoli intends to provide expanded end-to-end coverage to include zEnterprise ensemble configuration and service level data with additional event and performance integration with IBM Netcool/OMNIbus , IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON® XE, IBM Event Pump of z/OS® , and IBM NetView® for z/OS .
