Overview
Bottom rule

IBM offers MCRSA for the ISNM. This includes remote call-in support for the central network manager and the hardware server components of the ISNM, plus support for the local network management controller machine code.

The ISNM subsystem package is installed on the executive management server of a high performance computing cluster consisting of IBM Power® 775 Supercomputers and contains the network management commands. (Refer to the Software requirements section on where to download.) The local network management controller runs on the server service processor as part of the drawers' system and is shipped with the Power 775.

MCRSA enables a single-site or worldwide enterprise customer to maintain machine code entitlement to remote call-in support for ISNM throughout the life of the MCRSA.

24-hours-per-day, 7-days-per-week support coverage option is also available through this offering for an additional charge.

An initial order for MCRSA includes a one-year support agreement. A three-year support option is also available for extended coverage.

Machine Control Program Remote Support Agreement

MCRSA for the ISNM is a one-year or three-year contract offering that enables you to maintain voice support during normal business hours. If you allow either the one- or three-year MCRSA offering to expire without renewal, simply reorder MCRSA to reinstate support.

Contract entitlement

A one-year (5771-ISN) or three-year (5773-ISN) prepay option may be purchased at the same time the 775 hardware is ordered. Refunds do not apply if cancellation occurs during the contract period. Contract transfers within an enterprise are not allowed.

Entitlement for support is based on a single drawer, or 9125-F2C server.

An IBM Power 775 Supercomputer

In a high performance computing clustered system, interconnected Power 775 servers provide the next generation of high-bandwidth, low-latency, high-performance computing. This data network is implemented using a set of Integrated Switch Routers (ISRs), which reside in the Power 775 server. Network management machine code provides a set of services to manage this ISR network. It is designed to configure and initialize the network hardware, and detects and provides recovery from network hardware errors.

ISNM

The ISR management machine code is called the IBM Integrated Switch Network Manager and has two management components that cooperate to provide network management services. These components are:

More specifically, ISNM provides the following services for the data network. Note that these services are provided for the data network only, not for the control or systems management networks.

Server

Server is a unit of measure by which the MCRSA service offering can be entitled. A server is a physical computer that is comprised of processing units, memory, and input/output capabilities and that executes requested procedures, commands, or applications for one or more users or client devices. Where racks, blade enclosures, or other similar equipment is being employed, each separable physical device (for example, a blade or a rack- mounted device) that has the required components is considered itself a separate server. For the purpose of this server-based entitlement, entitlements must be obtained for each server which is made available to the supported program, regardless of the number of processor cores and/or partitions in the server.
Note: In addition, support entitlements must be obtained sufficient to cover the servers managed by the supported program.

IBM Electronic Services
Bottom rule

IBM has transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to help you achieve higher system availability. Electronic Services is a web-enabled solution that offers an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support available for IBM servers. These services are designed to provide the opportunity for greater system availability with faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. Electronic Services comprises two separate, but complementary, elements: Electronic Services news page and Electronic Services Agent.

The Electronic Services news page is a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems.

The Electronic Service Agent™ is no-additional-charge software that resides on your server. It monitors events and transmits system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, client-defined timetable. The Electronic Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM . Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to deliver proactive service that may result in higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent is made available to IBM service support representatives when they help answer your questions or diagnose problems. Installation and use of IBM Electronic Service Agent for problem reporting enables IBM to provide better support and service for your IBM server.
