IBM InfoSphere Optim Configuration Manager V1.1 centralizes management of database configurations with registration of key database information.

Use InfoSphere Optim Configuration Manager V1.1 to:

  • Discover enterprise data assets using information gleaned from database application clients
  • Centralize client connection definitions to improve manageability
  • Leverage client definition as a central registry for database connectivity with IBM InfoSphere and Optim tools
  • Link databases and their design models to help facilitate database projects in the enterprise

InfoSphere Optim Configuration Manager has the following key features:

  • Discover client information for databases, such as host name, IP address, user ID, client version information, and more. In addition, it helps with license compliance checking when used with DB2 Connect™ V9.7 FixPack 3A.
  • Define official connection definitions for databases, such as database location and database driver properties.
  • Define the designated logical, physical, and privacy models for databases.
  • Track client access to data servers.

Software requirements

Minimal requirements for operating systems at the time of announcement are listed as follows.

IBM InfoSphere Optim Configuration Manager V1.1 can be installed on the following operating systems:

  • AIX® 5.3 TL06, or 6.1, 64 bit

IBM InfoSphere Optim Configuration Manager V1.1 supports the following data servers:

  • DB2® for Linux®, UNIX®, and Windows® V9.1 (FP3 and later), V9.5 (FP4 and later)
  • DB2 for z/OS® V9

IBM InfoSphere Optim Configuration Manager V1.1 supports the following servers as the repository database:

  • DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows V9.5 (FP4 and later), V9.7

Limitations

A restricted use license of DB2 Enterprise Server Edition V9.7 is included to be optionally used as the repository server with the InfoSphere Optim Configuration Manager. See license text for usage restrictions.

InfoSphere Optim Configuration Manager V1.1 offers centralizes management of database configurations which, based on IBM DB2 technology, is designed to manage data more effectively and efficiently. Greater availability is delivered through DB2 enhancements such as online, automated database reorganization. In addition, the increased scalability and the ability of DB2 to leverage the latest in server technology helps deliver increased performance of backup and recovery processes.

Security, auditability, and control

IBM InfoSphere Optim Configuration Manager V1.1 uses the security and auditability features of the host hardware or software.

The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities.
