IBM InfoSphere Information Server V8.5
InfoSphere Information Server is a market-leading data integration platform that helps you understand, cleanse, transform, and deliver more trustworthy information to your critical business initiatives. The platform provides data governance, quality, transformation, and delivery capabilities that help ensure information is consistently defined, accurately represented, reliably transformed, and regularly updated on an ongoing basis. InfoSphere Information Server enables collaboration between business and IT professionals to help ensure that your strategic initiatives such as business analytics, master data management, application consolidation and migration projects, as well as data warehousing strategies utilize information that is accurate, comprehensive, insightful, and available in real time.
InfoSphere Foundation Tools is the functionality of InfoSphere Information Server, designed to be used in conjunction with other products to help customers establish a governance strategy to fully understand their information. InfoSphere Foundation Tools is the component of InfoSphere Information Server designed to help customers establish a governance strategy to fully understand their information. InfoSphere Foundation Tools can be effectively deployed in environments with other data integration infrastructures as well as those with InfoSphere Information Server's InfoSphere DataStage.
New features being offered in InfoSphere Information Server 8.5 include Blueprint Director, a new capability to further strengthen the alignment of business and IT, allowing you to govern your information projects. The integration team can collaborate on actionable information blueprints that connect the business vision with the corresponding technical metadata. Blueprint Director directs the team to apply best practices based on reference architectures and methodology.
IBM InfoSphere DataStage V8.5
IBM InfoSphere DataStage enables organizations to design data integration data flows that extract, transform, and load (ETL) information from multiple, heterogeneous source systems, transform it in ways that can help make it more valuable, then deliver it to one or more target databases or applications in a batch, real-time, or event-based (messaging) manner, regardless of data complexity or volume.
New features include:
- Improved clustering capabilities that provide increased scalability and availability, allowing customers to now deploy additional topologies to address their business requirements for performance and improve resilience to failures.
- Integration with Enterprise Source Code Control Systems (SCCS), delivering customers seamless code management capabilities for InfoSphere DataStage artifacts during the development life cycle.
- An improved user experience with InfoSphere DataStage Balanced Optimization, delivering seamless integration with InfoSphere DataStage and improved metadata lineage.
- Transformer enhancements, delivering powerful new capabilities that enable a user to loop and cache records, supporting new levels of complex transformations in a highly productive manner.
- Extending InfoSphere DataStage's strong pivoting capabilities to enable vertical pivots with a new highly reusable processing component.
- Improved connectivity, delivering common connectors for InfoSphere DataStage Server jobs that provide improved and consolidated support for better performance and functionality.
- A new z/OS® File Stage leveraging IBM InfoSphere Classic Data Connector for z/OS with its Access Sequential or Access VSAM feature, enabling users to develop processing logic that reads and writes z/OS files natively while streaming data and processing workload to the DataStage platform to help optimize mainframe costs.
IBM InfoSphere QualityStage™ V8.5
IBM InfoSphere QualityStage helps enterprises create and maintain a dynamic view of master data entities, including customers, vendors, locations, and products. Core capabilities include data investigation, standardization, address validation, probabilistic matching, and survivorship. InfoSphere QualityStage can be deployed in transactional, operational, or analytic applications in batch and real-time environments.
- Visibility into the impact of standardization rules will be enhanced by the new Standardization Quality Assessment (SQA) stage, which will provide summary reporting to understand how well standardization is performing.
- The standardization process will be made easier through simplified handling of mixed alpha and numeric tokens, expanded script support, and enhanced performance.
- A new Match Specification Report will be provided that presents the contents of a match specification that was made within the Match Designer in an easy-to-read format. Contents include passes, blocking columns, and other information related to defining and testing match criteria. This will help users more easily monitor their match designs.
- The Match Designer is now easier to use for both new and experienced users. For example, all match types are now available in a single menu in the Match Designer. Other improvements such as the organization of the output and the placement of various controls have been made to help users navigate the Match Designer more quickly.
- More user flexibility in creating match logic has been provided through several match improvements such as the capability to override match cutoffs within match reference and unduplicated stages. These changes give the user more options to achieve good results more quickly.
- Expanded Rule Coverage: Rulesets for Korea, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Mexico, and the Netherlands have been added.
- Support to make customer rules development easier has been added with the new Rules Development Toolkit.
IBM InfoSphere Change Data Delivery for Information Server
IBM InfoSphere Change Data Delivery for Information Server delivers real-time data integration across new and existing investments in IBM InfoSphere DataStage, InfoSphere QualityStage, InfoSphere Warehouse, and InfoSphere Master Data Management Server on the IBM System i® platform.
IBM InfoSphere Change Data Delivery for Information Server helps provide rapid and timely delivery of data changes for InfoSphere data warehouses, InfoSphere DataStage ETL processes, InfoSphere QualityStage data quality processes, and InfoSphere master data management systems to help ensure that these systems have updated and more trustworthy data to enable good business decisions.
IBM InfoSphere Change Data Delivery for Information Server can help you:

These advancements include enhanced monitoring, debugging, and improved multibyte character set (MBCS) configuration. InfoSphere Change Data Delivery for Information Server V6.5 also helps address the need for increasing data volumes by providing performance improvements while continuing to achieve and reduce impact on mission-critical production systems.

IBM InfoSphere Business Glossary V8.5
IBM InfoSphere Business Glossary is an interactive, web-based tool that helps users create, manage, and share an enterprise vocabulary and classification system. The alignment of business terms with technical information assets facilitates business and IT communities to collaborate and govern their data more effectively. Also, the data stewardship capabilities of this tool can promote responsibility and accountability in support of data governance policies.
New features include:
- Enhanced display of data analysis summaries from InfoSphere Information Analyzer and InfoSphere Discovery. This enables users to understand key data quality metrics for the information that is associated with a business term.
- Ability to view valid value types and references for associated data sources.
- Improved consumability of glossary content for business users via a new user role: Business Glossary Basic User. Users with this role view only Terms and Category information. No technical metadata information, such as Assigned Assets and Data Source Tree, is displayed.
- Accelerated population of glossary content via a mechanism that transforms content from imported business intelligence reports into Business Glossary Categories and Terms.
- Ability for data modelers to leverage up-to-date Business Glossary content in their modeling environment via enhanced integration with InfoSphere Data Architect, including the ability to interchange assigned relationships between the modeling client and the metadata repository.
IBM InfoSphere FastTrack V8.5
IBM InfoSphere FastTrack streamlines collaboration between business analysts, data modelers, and developers by capturing and defining business requirements in a common, familiar format and then transforming that business logic directly into DataStage ETL jobs.
New features include:
- Shared data rules within mapping specifications to accelerate communication of and consistently apply information across projects.
- An audit history for specification updates, tracking various InfoSphere FastTrack events (such as who made a change and what change was made). This capability is critical for governance programs that require an audit trail as part of historical documentation.
- Capture of existing source-to-target relationships from DataStage jobs, which provides the ability to leverage existing job information to jump-start specification work. By utilizing knowledge already gained, this feature establishes a view into the lineage between those data sources and enables better consistency in collaborative work.
- Support for interchange of mapping specifications across Information Server environments allows users to move information to the environment where it is needed.
IBM InfoSphere Information Analyzer V8.5
IBM InfoSphere Information Analyzer can help you quickly and easily understand your data by offering data quality assessment, flexible data rules design and analysis, and quality monitoring capabilities. These insights can help you derive more information from enterprise data to accelerate information-centric projects.
New features include:
- Expanded collaboration between business and IT. Users now have an improved ability to link data sources directly to business terms in InfoSphere Information Analyzer and deliver broader understanding of data to business users through context-sensitive menu options, enhanced term browsers, and presentation of terms with standard data classifications.
- Sharing of InfoSphere Information Analyzer's source analysis results through the InfoSphere Business Glossary. In addition to the existing summary results, users can now gain better understanding and insight into the valid values of source columns that are represented by business terms.
- Export of InfoSphere Information Analyzer project information to other InfoSphere Information Server environments to optimize distribution of data analysis insights.
- Invocation and update of InfoSphere Information Analyzer's data quality assessment and monitoring tasks via REST APIs.
- Publication of InfoSphere Information Analyzer's data quality assessment and monitoring results to a standard file format for downstream utilization via command line (CLI) or REST APIs.
- Native Oracle connectivity support.
- Methodology and best practice guide for designing data quality rules.
- Provision of Information Analyzer Exception Manager, a bundled offering available on Windows® platforms, leveraging the functionality from the former Exeros Validator product. It integrates directly with InfoSphere Discovery so that discovered transformation rules across sources can be validated, reconciled, and monitored on an ongoing basis. It also incorporates a browser-based user interface for the data steward to review and report exception conditions.
- Information Analyzer Exception Manager can analyze data in only the Latin 1 character sets, including the following languages: English, German, Spanish, French, and Italian. While the software is available for sale in some countries that operate with double-byte character sets, the software does not currently work in double-byte languages. The software can still be purchased in these countries, but must only be used to analyze data in the languages noted above.
- Availability of Information Analyzer Exception Manager on Linux® for System z® for both production and nonproduction environments.
IBM InfoSphere Metadata Workbench V8.5
IBM InfoSphere Metadata Workbench allows visual web-based exploration of information assets generated and used by IBM InfoSphere Information Server and other third-party applications. This visualization is designed to increase the level of trust in the most important information. In addition, the robust querying capabilities of the InfoSphere Metadata Workbench provide the IT community with comprehensive and flexible data lineage reports that enable deep understanding of the data being used in their environments and a method to monitor their data integration activities over time. The powerful impact analysis tool can help data analysts and developers make better decisions when faced with changes in data integration projects.
New features include:
- Share mapping specifications documented in InfoSphere FastTrack with InfoSphere Metadata Workbench to promote reuse and collaboration
- Improved integration with Information Analyzer with display of Data Rules in InfoSphere Metadata Workbench
- Integration with InfoSphere Discovery with display of analysis metadata in InfoSphere Metadata Workbench to promote reuse and collaboration
- Share mapping specifications documented in InfoSphere Discovery with InfoSphere Metadata Workbench to capture extended data sources and mappings

Hardware requirements
The exact configuration you need to support your environment with satisfactory processing time will vary, depending on multiple factors. Processing times vary, depending on server speed, memory, and network and server workload. The minimum recommended configurations listed below need to be evaluated and adjusted according to your unique requirements. Disk space recommendations are for the product installation and working space only. The actual hard disk space required varies, depending upon your installation.

Recommended hardware
- Processor: 2.5 GHz (minimum required); faster processors are recommended.
- Memory: 6 GB of RAM (minimum required); 8+ GB of RAM recommended.
When you install IBM InfoSphere Information Server, 50 MB of temporary files are added and removed after the installation process is complete.

- Metadata repository tier: The metadata repository and, if installed, the IBM InfoSphere Information Analyzer analysis database and the computer where these components are installed. The metadata repository database contains the shared metadata, data, and configuration information for InfoSphere Information Server product modules. The analysis database stores extended analysis data for InfoSphere Information Analyzer.
- Services tier: The application server, common services, and product services for the suite and product modules and the computer where those components are installed. The services tier provides both common services (such as metadata and logging) and services that are specific to certain product modules. Within the tier, IBM WebSphere Application Server hosts the services. The services tier also hosts InfoSphere Information Server applications that are web-based.
- Engine tier: The logical group of engine components (the InfoSphere Information Server engine components, service agents, and so on) and the computer where those components are installed. The engine runs jobs and other tasks for product modules that require the engine.
- Client tier: The client programs and consoles that are used for development and administration and the computers where they are installed.
Repository tier:
- DB2 ESE 9.5 (Fixpack 2) and IBM DB2 ESE 9.7
- Oracle 10gR2 and 11gR2 (data direct JDBC drivers 3.6)
- SQL Server 2005 SP2 and SQL Server 2008 (Windows only; data direct JDBC drivers 3.6)
Notes:
- DB2 Restricted Enterprise Edition 9 is included with IBM InfoSphere Information Server and is an optional part of the installation that requires an additional 390 MB of disk space. If DB2 Restricted Enterprise Edition 9 is optionally installed, it is only licensed for use with IBM InfoSphere Information Server. Information Server V8.5 offers significantly increased data protection, scalability, and performance for its database operations based on IBM DB2 technology, which is designed to manage data more effectively and efficiently. Greater availability is delivered through enhancements such as online, automated database reorganization. In addition, the increased scalability and the ability to leverage the latest in server technology helps deliver increased performance of backup and recovery processes.
- IBM InfoSphere Information Server does not support the Database Partitioning Feature of IBM DB2 ESE 9 for use in the Repository tier.
- The database needs to have 700 MB of initial free space. With added projects and continued usage, additional disk space will be required.
Services tier
IBM InfoSphere Information Server requires WebSphere Application Server 7.0.0.7 and 6.1.0.27, or higher. WebSphere Application Server is included as a part of IBM InfoSphere Information Server and is an optional part of the installation that requires an additional 1 GB of disk space. If WebSphere Application Server is optionally installed, it is only licensed for use with IBM InfoSphere Information Server.

Charge metrics definitions
Authorized User
Authorized User is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. An Authorized User is an individual (named or unnamed) within or outside of your enterprise. The program may be installed on one or more computers or servers and accessed by the number of users authorized by the Proof of Entitlement (PoE). You must have an entitlement for each Authorized User accessing the program or any program component in any manner directly or indirectly (for example, via a multiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means.
Concurrent User
Concurrent User is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. A Concurrent User is a shared user access to the program within or outside of your enterprise. The program may be installed only on one computer or one server. The total number of Concurrent Users simultaneously accessing the program at any moment in time may not exceed the highest number of Concurrent Users authorized by the Proof of Entitlement (PoE). You must have an entitlement for each Concurrent User simultaneously accessing the program or any program component in any manner directly or indirectly (for example, via a multiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means.
Install
Install is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. An Install is an installed copy of the program on a physical or virtual disk made available to be executed on a computer. Licensee must obtain an entitlement for each Install of the program.
Processor Value Unit
Processor Value Unit (PVU) is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. The number of PVU entitlements required is based on the processor technology (defined within the PVU Table by Processor Value, Brand, Type, and Model Number at the following website and the number of processors made available to the program.
IBM continues to define a processor, for the purpose of PVU-based licensing, to be each processor core on a chip. A dual-core processor chip, for example, has two processor cores.
Licensee can deploy the program using either Full Capacity licensing or Virtualization Capacity (Sub-Capacity) licensing according to the Passport Advantage Sub-Capacity Licensing Terms (see web page below). If using Full Capacity licensing, Licensee must obtain PVU entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores1 in the physical hardware environment made available to or managed by the program, except for those servers from which the program has been permanently removed. If using Virtualization Capacity licensing, Licensee must obtain entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores made available to or managed by the program, as defined according to the Virtualization Capacity License Counting Rules at

- An Activated processor core is a processor core that is available for use in a physical or virtual server, regardless of whether the capacity of the processor core can be or is limited through virtualization technologies, operating system commands, BIOS settings, or similar restrictions.
Resource Value Unit (RVU)
RVU is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. RVU entitlements are based on the quantity of a specific designated measurement for the given program. A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for the appropriate number of RVUs required for your environment as defined by the specific program terms. The RVU entitlements are specific to the program and may include, but are not limited to the following: client devices, data source records, messages, and servers, and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with RVU entitlements of another program. To understand these benefits of RVU licensing, and to determine how many RVUs to obtain for the program, contact your IBM representative.

Licensing
IBM International Program License Agreement including the License Information document and Proof of Entitlement (PoE) govern your use of the program. PoEs are required for all authorized use.
Part number products only, offered outside of Passport Advantage, where applicable, are license only and do not include Software Maintenance.

Limited warranty
IBM warrants that when the program is used in the specified operating environment, it will conform to its specifications. The warranty applies only to the unmodified portion of the program. IBM does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the program or that IBM will correct all program defects. You are responsible for the results obtained from the use of the program.
IBM provides you with access to IBM databases containing information on known program defects, defect corrections, restrictions, and bypasses at no additional charge. For further information, consult the IBM Software Support Handbook found at
IBM will maintain this information for at least one year after the original licensee acquires the program (warranty period).
Program technical support
Technical support of a program product version or release will be available for a minimum of five years from the general availability date, as long as your Software Maintenance is in effect. This technical support allows you to obtain assistance (via telephone or electronic means) from IBM for product-specific, task-oriented questions regarding the installation and operation of the program product. Software Maintenance also provides you with access to updates (modifications or fixes), releases, and versions of the program. You will be notified, via announcement letter, of discontinuance of support with 12 months' notice. If you require additional technical support from IBM, including an extension of support beyond the discontinuance date, contact your IBM representative or IBM Business Partner. This extension may be available for a fee.

For clarification, note that if for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are the original licensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paid for it, if within 30 days of your invoice date you return the program and its PoE to the party from whom you obtained it. If you downloaded the program, you may contact the party from whom you acquired it for instructions on how to obtain the refund.
- For clarification, note that for programs acquired under the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement, this term applies only to your first acquisition of the program.

Software Subscription and Support
Yes. Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) is included with licenses purchased through Passport Advantage and Passport Advantage Express. Product upgrades and technical support are provided by the Software Subscription and Support offering as described in the Agreements. Product upgrades provide the latest versions and releases to entitled software and Technical Support provides voice and electronic access to IBM support organizations, worldwide.
IBM includes one year of Software Subscription and Support with each program license acquired. The initial period of Software Subscription and Support can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if available.
While your Software Subscription and Support is in effect, IBM provides you assistance for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to) questions, and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance via telephone and, if available, electronic access, to your information systems (IS) technical support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift hours) of your IBM support center. (This assistance is not available to your end users.) IBM provides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For additional details, consult your IBM Software Support Handbook at
Software Subscription and Support does not include assistance for the design and development of applications, your use of programs in other than their specified operating environment, or failures caused by products for which IBM is not responsible under the applicable agreements.

Electronic Services is a web-enabled solution that offers an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support available for IBM servers. These services are designed to provide the opportunity for greater system availability with faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. The Electronic Services news page is a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems.
The Electronic Service Agent™ is no-additional-charge software that resides on your server. It monitors events and transmits system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, client-defined timetable. The Electronic Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to deliver proactive service that may result in higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent is made available to IBM service support representatives when they help answer your questions or diagnose problems. Installation and use of IBM Electronic Service Agent for problem reporting enables IBM to provide better support and service for your IBM server.
