| Overview |
Content is often spread across repositories in an organization between shared drives and folders, SharePoint, Lotus®, and Livelink. Finding the content that matters to a knowledge worker can be difficult with the wrong search solution, and nearly impossible without any search capabilities. Compounding the difficulties is the business requirement to ensure the security of information and scalability of the solution. IBM® OmniFind Enterprise Edition V9.1 helps users find content by providing a customizable scalable platform for enterprise search with robust security capabilities users can configure to ensure that only the content a user is allowed to view is shown in search results pages.
IBM OmniFind Enterprise Edition provides connectors to enterprise repositories to support the index aggregation of content across structured and unstructured repositories, along with robust APIs for embedding search components as ingredients in composite applications, portals or mashups allowing businesses to leverage their information across corporate interfaces.
Knowledge driven search enables organizations to:
- Accelerate time to knowledge
- Provide greater accuracy
- Deliver business context with enterprise search
IBM OmniFind Enterprise Edition V9.1 enables the five pillars of knowledge driven search:
- Dynamic - Delivers complete dynamic facet capabilities, type-ahead search, real-time content alerting, and is reactive to search-led content exploration.
- Tailorable - Delivers business adjustable relevancy and standardization to the Unstructured Information Management Architecture (UIMA).
- Supportable - Delivers search on 20 plus platforms, connects to 30 plus repositories.
- Secure - Delivers enforced security across content repositories.
- Scalable - Lucene-based index provides enterprise level scalability.

| Description |
IBM OmniFind Enterprise Edition V9.1 includes many technical and feature enhancements. Six key enhancements include:
- Scalability - Leveraging the Lucene index will allow you to index more content while simultaneously reducing the amount of resources required to store the full text index and perform queries.
- Usability - Faceted search allows you to visually drill through content organized in a classification hierarchy based on typed or extracted entity identifiers.
- Usability - Saved searches allow users to save searches for future re-execution. This is commonly requested by enterprise search customers who are using search to report on new or changing unstructured business content.
- Usability - Search agents allow users to be proactively alerted when content related to a specific query is newly indexed.
- Reach - Native crawlers for IBM FileNet® Content Manager and Microsoft® Sharepoint.
- Platform - Native Linux® for System z® support for runtime execution.
Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act

Processor Value Unit (PVU)
PVU is a unit of measure by which this software product can be licensed. PVU entitlements are based on processor technology (defined within the PVU table* by processor vendor, brand, type and model number). IBM continues to define a processor, for purposes of PVU-based licensing, to be each processor core on a chip. Each software product has a unique price per PVU. To determine the total cost of deploying an individual software product in a specific hardware environment, you must take the following steps:
- For each processor core in the hardware environment on which the software product is to be licensed, determine the PVU requirement based on its processor technology per the PVU table*.
- Add the PVU requirements for all processor cores in the hardware environment.
- Multiply the software product's price per PVU by the total number of PVUs required as determined in step 2 above.
PVU entitlements are specific to a software product and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with PVU entitlements of another software product.
Unless you have deployed eligible sub-capacity products according to the sub-capacity* terms, you must obtain PVU Proof of Entitlements (PoEs) for the maximum number of activated** physical processor cores in the hardware environment made available to or managed by the software product. This is also referred to as full capacity licensing.
** Activated processor cores are physical processor cores that are available for use in a server. They include processor cores:
- That are activated (available for use) when the server is shipped by the manufacturer
- That are activated subsequently through activation codes purchased from the server manufacturer by the customer
- Whose capacity can be limited by the customer through virtualization technologies, operating system commands and BIOS settings
* For information regarding PVU and sub-capacity licensing, including the latest PVU table, visit
