IBM® Information Archive is the next-generation information retention solution designed as a universal archiving repository for virtually all types of content to help midsize and enterprise clients in their efforts to reduce cost, manage risk, and address clients information retention needs.

This highly versatile, cloud-ready, smart business system can be a useful tool for users in their efforts to support regulatory compliance by providing a storage repository with robust security features designed to prevent the alteration or deletion of the storage repository in which information is stored until your business-designated retention period has elapsed.

IBM Information Archive is designed to help reduce the need and expense for primary storage by enabling archiving applications to move less active but business vital information off the primary storage tier to cost-effective and scalable "archive" storage tier, to help to reduce information infrastructure costs. An archiving strategy that helps optimize primary storage space can allow mission-critical applications to run faster, provide higher availability, and allow backup and recovery operations to be completed more quickly and, thereby, improving overall productivity.

In addition, Information Archive enforces policies across a single repository that may combine both disk and multiple tape systems that scales to petabytes in size. This combination can provide exceptionally low overall cost of ownership.

In an effort to help meet the widest range of retention demands, IBM Information Archive allows IT administrators to customize retention policies based on unique and dynamically changing business requirements.

Key features:

  • The architecture of Information Archive is designed to bring enterprise-class scalability and outstanding performance to open systems and mainframe environments.
  • Information Archive has the ability to store, retrieve, and protect content from many different applications across multiple standards-based interfaces, as well as the IBM Tivoli® Storage Manager API.
  • Multiple configuration and collection repositories offer the wide range of flexible protection levels and usage options to help meet unique and dynamically changing data retention requirements with different deployment options.
  • Fully integrated solution is simple to implement and easy-to-use, enabling you to begin to realize the value of archiving quickly. You can manage your archived information from a single intuitive interface.

IBM Electronic Services
Bottom rule

IBM has transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to help you achieve higher system availability. Electronic Services is a Web-enabled solution that offers an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support available for IBM servers. These services are designed to provide the opportunity for greater system availability with faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. Electronic Services comprises two separate, but complementary, elements: Electronic Services news page and Electronic Services Agent.

The Electronic Services news page is a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems.

The Electronic Service Agent™ is no-additional-charge software that resides on your server. It monitors events and transmits system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, client-defined timetable. The Electronic Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to deliver proactive service that may result in higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent is made available to IBM service support representatives when they help answer your questions or diagnose problems. Installation and use of IBM Electronic Service Agent for problem reporting enables IBM to provide better support and service for your IBM server.
