Overview
Bottom rule

IBM InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 is an agile, scalable entity resolution and analysis platform for fighting threat and fraud. Its distinguished identity and relationship disambiguation technology combined with innovative, complex event processing helps public sector organizations and commercial enterprises recognize and mitigate the incidence of fraud, threat, and risk. InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 adds to the organization's ability to recognize Who is who? Who knows who? and Who does what?

By accumulating identity context over time, InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 uses various enterprise sources of information to determine whether persons really are who they say they are. Unlike traditional approaches that merely look at a name along with the most recent phone number or address, InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 looks at these attributes across time to help ensure the most accurate identity. Using sophisticated entity algorithms along with patented multicultural name analysis, InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 determines whether a person has been identified before, whether a person is new to your organization, or whether there is some previous assumption that should be corrected based on new facts. This self-correcting behavior works to eliminate data drift and builds an increasingly accurate picture of identity as information volumes increase.

Once accurate identity is established, complex relationships can be uncovered. InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 processes resolve identity data to determine whether people are, or ever have been, related in any way. While this is particularly useful for organizations that track terrorists, it can also help businesses such as banks determine whether Hope Smith who just applied for a loan is related to Rock Smith, the account holder who recently defrauded the bank.

Accurate identity is essential for understanding the events that a person is involved in. InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 offers real-time transaction and event processing and alerting capabilities, based on customer-defined business rules. Using this capability, an analyst can be alerted whenever a certain threshold is met. For instance, an analyst can specify that he wants an alert whenever any one person makes three transactions worth $9,000 or more at different branches, within a 100-mile radius, within 30 days.

IBM InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 technology aids in simplifying how businesses and governments gain insight into their data and contributes to risk reduction where criminals seek to steal and misuse information about innocent people. Resolving identities and their relationships is serious business. It can help reduce fraud or prevent crimes ranging from unwarranted insurance claims, credit card fraud, and identity theft to terrorist activity.

Description
Bottom rule

IBM InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 offers the following capabilities:

  • Full attribution: InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 accumulates a history as opposed to a snapshot of each individual or company in this database over time. By retaining all relevant record information, the resolution process becomes more accurate because there is more data with which to make comparisons.
  • Real-time changes: When a record is received, InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 immediately compares it with its database to see if it resolves an existing record, is new and requires the creation of a new record, or requires an unresolve of an existing record, in which case two new virtual consolidations are created automatically.
  • Sequence neutral: Where traditional methods match against a consolidated record rather than its originating elements, InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 processes input records in such a way as to minimize the dependency on the order that records are received.
  • Analysis of any attribute: In InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0, every attribute of an entity is indexed, which is not normally the case when using traditional methods. This means that you can quickly and efficiently search the repository by phone number, address, or anything else that distinguishes the records under examination.
  • Self-healing and self-correcting: InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 perpetually examines and updates any entity in the repository that would be affected based on new observations.
  • Relationship resolution: InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 compares addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and any other characteristics it can discover across multiple individuals. Because it leverages all specified identity attributes, InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 helps resolve relationships with multiple linkage points. Using intelligent data analysis, it prevents overmatching on frequently occurring data values.
  • Recognize digital identities: In today's world, some of the most disturbing criminal activities occur in the digital world. InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 can resolve information from the organization including event records, employee and vendor records, log files, cookies, and IP addresses.
  • Degrees of separation: This feature allows you to extend the recognition of undeclared affinity groups and networks of identities across customers, employees, suppliers, other involved people, and so on, by evaluating relationships. The sensitivity is defined by the user, well beyond a single degree and up to 30 degrees of separation.
  • Enterprise discovery: InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 provides insight at the ingestion of data streams for real-time discovery. New observations are reconciled and related to historical data. Context and discovery accumulate incrementally in real time. Insight is pushed to users: Users do not have to pose smart questions to obtain valuable insight into identities and relationships.

IBM InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 features

IBM InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 delivers new features that expand the value of entity analytics and simplify the user experience.

Ease of use

  • Enhanced UMF validation: The UMF validation function now provides additional capability and usability to the validation mechanism in the Visualizer.
  • Visualizer usability enhancements: The Visualizer interface has been enhanced to make research navigation tasks easier and to provide a more intuitive and logical user experience.
  • Advanced filters for alerts: The Alert Inbox filter controls have been expanded to allow users the ability to simply access alerts of value to their investigation.
  • Entity graph changes: Zooming and navigation enhancements simplify relationship investigation.

Functional enhancements

  • Event management: InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 now includes complex event processing alongside identity and relationship resolution. This combined functionality provides your organization with the ability to track business events across all representations of an entity across the enterprise. Rules may be customized to alert on suspicious events or events of interest so that you can take an appropriate business action in a timely manner, to assist your organization in its fight against threat and fraud.
  • Attribute and scoring customization: InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 provides functional enhancements for configuring attribute data and integrating scoring algorithms. These changes expand the size and types of identity data that can be compared and scored and enable the addition of new scoring algorithms in the entity resolution process. For example, you may add identity data derived from online or biometric sources and score them using a scoring plugin that includes an appropriate comparison algorithm.
  • Expanded service API: It updates the Web services by providing an object-rich SOAP API and corresponding UMF API of Web services operations. It also includes pipeline load balancing functionality for these Web services, which allows for pipeline redundancy and enhanced performance.
  • Expanded support for organization names: It increases coverage for nuances peculiar to the business name domain, such as more robust recognition and scoring of digits and special characters, business legal terms, and professional qualifiers.
  • IBM Global Name Recognition Name Hasher feature: It enables improved name parsing, culture classification, and name hash generation processes. The improved capabilities of the name hygiene process enable the InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 pipelines to build better candidate lists. The generation of more accurate and robust candidate lists directly improves entity resolution.

Performance

IBM InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 includes several performance improvements to the entity resolution process, including name-variant throttling and bulk inserts. These changes increase the "entity resolutions per second" to provide for even greater scalability.

IPLA and Subscription and Support considerations

IPLA licenses can be transferred from one machine to another within, but not limited to an enterprise. You may aggregate the capacity for all the processors the product is operated on to achieve a more economic price. This will result in a single Proof of Entitlement (PoE). It is your responsibility to manage the distribution of Value Units within the limits of the entitlement of the product license.

Subscription and Support must cover the same capacity as the product license entitlement. Subscription and Support will be available in the country in which the agreement is made.

Charge metrics definitions

IBM InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 program license structure is based on a combined Processor Value Unit (PVU) and Resource Value Unit (RVU) licensing model. InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 program licensing requires a licensee to obtain sufficient licenses to cover all the processors (processor cores) available to the server and the required number of RVUs. The RVUs are computed based on the specific needs of any given deployment. Each InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 program has a unique price per RVU. The licensee may not exceed the level of PVUs or RVUs as defined in licensee's Proof of Entitlement (PoE).

Processor Value Unit

Processor Value Unit is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. The Proofs of Entitlement for PVUs are based on processor technology defined within the PVU table by processor vendor, brand, type, and model number at

http://www.ibm.com/software/lotus/passportadvantage/pvu_licensing_for_ customers.html

IBM continues to define a processor, for the purpose of PVU-based licensing, to be each processor core on a chip.

The licensee must obtain entitlements sufficient to cover every activated processor core1 in the environment which is made available to or is managed by the program. Unless the program is sub-capacity eligible and the licensee has deployed the program according to the Passport Advantage Sub-capacity licensing terms, the licensee must obtain entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores1 in the physical hardware environment. For more information, visit

http://www.ibm.com/software/lotus/passportadvantage/subcaplicensing.ht ml

The PVUs for this program are calculated based on the database environment managed by the program.

1
Activated processor cores are physical processor cores that are available in a physical or virtual server. When the program is not licensed and deployed under Sub-capacity licensing terms, the physical hardware environment includes all processor cores:
  • That are activated (available for use) when the server is shipped by the manufacturer
  • That are activated subsequently through activation codes purchased from the server manufacturer by the customer
  • Whose capacity is limited, or can be limited, through virtualization technologies, operating system commands, BIOS settings, or similar restrictions

Resource Value Unit

Resource Value Unit (RVU) is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. The RVU Proofs of Entitlement are based on the number of units of a specific resource used or managed by the program. A licensee must obtain sufficient entitlements for the number of RVUs required for licensee's environment as specified in the lists below. The RVU entitlements are specific to the program and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with the RVU entitlements of another program. The units of measure for this program are Data Source Records and applications.

First, the licensee must determine the number of Data Source Record (DSR) units the licensee will use the program to manage. The DSR unit is equivalent to 1,000,000 DSRs.

Next, the licensee must determine the total point value (TPV) based on the number of DSR units the licensee will use the program to manage. To determine licensee's TPV, the licensee must multiply the number of DSR units by the points per unit in each resource level required until the total DSR unit count is met.

Data Source Record resource levels:

  • In resource level 1, unit 1 is 60 points
  • In resource level 2, units 2 through 5 are 80 points per unit
  • In resource level 3, units 6 through 15 are 10 points per unit
  • In resource level 4, units 16 through 50 are 9 points per unit
  • In resource level 5, units 51 through 100 are 7.2 points per unit
  • In resource level 6, units 101 through 200 are 3.6 points per unit
  • In resource level 7, units 201 through 300 are 1.8 points per unit
  • In resource level 8, units 301 and above are 0 points per unit

Finally, to determine the RVU for licensee's use of the program, the licensee must multiply licensee's TPV by the RVU factor associated to the number of application units the licensee requires.

Application resource levels:

  • For a minimum of 1 unit and a maximum of 2 units, the RVU factor to be applied is .25
  • For a minimum of 3 units and a maximum of 5 units, the RVU factor to be applied is .5
  • For a minimum of 6 units and for every unit greater than 6, the RVU factor to be applied is 1

Resource definitions

Data Source Records (DSR) are discrete associations with the specific identity of a person, organization, place, or thing. The DSR is defined by an externally supplied unique identifier and one or more identifying data elements to be entered into the program. The DSR may be updated within the program through subsequent entries using the original supplied unique identifier. The number of DSRs the licensee must license includes all data entered into the program from any data source. The DSRs that are expired, deleted, or do not contain identifying data elements are not counted in the calculation. Updates to existing DSRs are also not counted in the calculation.

Applications, also called end-user programs, are any functional software program that will accept direct output from the InfoSphere Identity Insight V8.0 program. Examples include, but are not limited to, the Identity Insight Visualizer, case management applications, investigative dashboards, or customer relationship management (CRM) programs.

Migration of existing entitlements

For purposes of Software Subscription and Support (S&S) renewals and for those programs affected by today's announcement, your existing per processor license and Software Subscription and Support entitlements will be treated as if they had been originally obtained under the equivalent level of Processor Value Units (PVUs). Refer to the following section for a complete list of programs affected.

The Value Unit (VU) licensing entitlements for Data Source Records are being moved to Resource Value Unit license entitlements to provide more clarity in the entitlement naming. No underlying licensing calculation or pricing has changed.

To convert your Software Subscription and Support from the per processor metric to the PVU metric, IBM will employ a standard conversion factor of one hundred PVUs for every one per processor entitlement you have acquired. As part of this conversion, the existing standard retail price (SRP) and suggested volume price (SVP) per processor software price for affected programs will be adjusted to set the SRP and SVP on the basis of PVUs.

The conversion to PVUs represents a change in the way IBM measures authorized use, rather than a price change for existing IBM software. Software Subscription and Support renewal quantities, calculated using the per processor to PVU conversion method described above, will be used for your next Software Subscription and Support renewal quotation and may be shown in a separate letter to be sent to you from IBM. These PVU quantities will be reflected in your "active entitlements" on Passport Advantage Online. Visit the following Web site and select the "Passport Advantage Online" tab followed by the "Customer sign in" tab

http://ibm.com/software/passportadvantage

Software Subscription and Support renewal quotations, issued after the effective date, will reflect this change.

IBM International Program License Agreement including the License Information document and Proof of Entitlement (PoE) govern your use of the program. PoEs are required for all authorized use.

Part number products only, offered outside of Passport Advantage, where applicable, are license only and do not include Software Maintenance.

Warranty

IBM warrants that when the program is used in the specified operating environment, it will conform to its specifications. The warranty applies only to the unmodified portion of the program. IBM does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the program or that IBM will correct all program defects. You are responsible for the results obtained from the use of the program.

IBM provides you with access to IBM databases containing information on known program defects, defect corrections, restrictions, and bypasses at no additional charge. Consult the IBM Software Support Handbook for further information at

http://www.ibm.com/support/handbook

IBM will maintain this information for at least one year after the original licensee acquires the program (warranty period).

Program technical support

Technical support of a program product will be available for a minimum of five years from the general availability date, as long as your Software Maintenance is in effect. This technical support allows you to obtain assistance (via telephone or electronic means) from IBM for product-specific, task-oriented questions regarding the installation and operation of the program product. Software Maintenance also provides you with access to updates, releases, and versions of the program. You will be notified, via announcement letter, of discontinuance of support with 12 months' notice. If you require additional technical support from IBM, including an extension of support beyond the discontinuance date, contact your IBM representative or IBM Business Partner. This extension may be available for a fee.

Money-back guarantee

If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are the original licensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paid for it, if within 30 days of your invoice date you return the program and its PoE to the party from whom you obtained it. If you downloaded the program, you may contact the party from whom you acquired it for instructions on how to obtain the refund.

  • For programs acquired under the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement, this term applies only to your first acquisition of the program.
Authorization for use on home/portable computer

The program may be stored on the primary machine and another machine, provided that the program is not in active use on both machines at the same time. You may not copy and use this program on another computer without paying additional license fees.
