Overview
Bottom rule

InfoSphere Traceability Server V2.5 enables enterprises to capture, manage, and share track and trace information about products and assets for real-time analysis and decision making. It helps companies optimize their critical business and supply chain process and hence gain competitive advantage. It is architected, designed, and built through pilots in the pharmaceutical, consumer product, transport, logistics, and retail industries to support use cases such as product authentication, diversion detection, returnable container management, and food traceability. InfoSphere Traceability Server leverages a variety of sensor technologies such as RFID and 2D bar codes to transform business and supply chain processes.

Returnable Container Management (RCM), an optional add-on application introduced in V2.5, helps customers protect their investment in returnable containers and mobile assets by optimizing their positioning and usage throughout the supply chain. By gaining insight into returnable container/reusable asset movement, companies can eliminate up to 40% of their inventory and reduce other costs associated with these assets including materials, labor and handling costs. RCM's advanced analytical and reporting capabilities help customers quickly and easily gain business insight that reduces costs and improves operational efficiencies. RCM helps customers:

  1. Reduce costs
    • Reduce inventory costs by eliminating up to 40% of inventory by establishing visibility throughout the entire process (supply chain)
    • Increase utilization through fast and effective analysis
    • Improve process efficiencies
      • Faster, automated receiving
      • Improved flow management
      • Reduce inventory counts
      • Reduce reconciliations
      • Reduce shrink and safety stocks
      • Reduce expenses due to expedited shipments, replacements and substitutes
  2. Gain greater insight into the business
    • Reduces supply chain operation costs by gaining greater visibility into product movement and through trading partner collaboration
    • Manage and direct container inventory turns at each supplier
  3. Reduce risk
    • Reduce asset counterfeiting
    • Reduce product contamination

Description
Bottom rule

Benefits from InfoSphere Traceability Server V2.5 get to the core of business objectives. They maximize the effectiveness of partner relationships and improving the overall supply chain efficiency to increase revenues and reduce costs.

Key use cases include:

  • Product authentication and anti-counterfeiting: Detect counterfeit product before it reaches the consumer - especially on high-margin items with high brand equity.
  • Shipment verification: Allow shippers to verify receipts and receivers to plan for receipts - mitigating the opportunities for theft or diversion of high-margin items in the supply chain and reducing charge backs.
  • Out-of-stock reduction: Detect and prevent inventory shortages - especially on time-sensitive, high-value inventory including consumer products promotions in retail stores and medical devices in hospitals.
  • Excess inventory detection: Detect and prevent excess inventory in the channel - especially on high-value products manufactured in batches - including pharmaceuticals and semiconductors.
  • Expiration management: Detect and sell product before it expires - especially on high-margin, rapidly decaying inventory - including food, pharmaceutical drugs, and consumer electronics.
  • RCM: Continuously monitor, analyze and trend container or mobile asset inventory and other performance metrics throughout the value chain.

Overall benefits include:

  • Lowers your overall total cost of ownership because the solution helps you stay compliant with the evolving EPCglobal EPCIS and Data Exchange standards.
  • Offers enterprise-class robustness, scalability, and performance capabilities that address immediate RFID and other sensor needs and can grow with you over time.
  • Facilitates sophisticated integration capabilities that let you leverage granular, high volume sensor data with your existing technology infrastructure, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Product Information Management (PIM), and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Provides detailed insight into your supply chain activities to drive process improvements both internally and with trading partners.

Resource Value Unit (RVU)

RVU is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. RVU entitlements are based on the quantity of a specific designated measurement for the given program. A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for the appropriate number of RVUs required for your environment as defined by the specific program terms. The RVU entitlements are specific to the program and may include, but are not limited to the following: Client Devices, data source records, messages, and servers, and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with RVU entitlements of another program. To understand these benefits of RVU licensing, and to determine how many RVUs to obtain for the program, contact your IBM representative.

IBM Electronic Services
Bottom rule

IBM has transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to help you achieve higher system availability. Electronic Services is a Web-enabled solution that offers an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support available for IBM servers. These services are designed to provide the opportunity for greater system availability with faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. Electronic Services comprises two separate, but complementary, elements: Electronic Services news page and Electronic Services Agent.

The Electronic Services news page is a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems.

The Electronic Service Agent™ is no-additional-charge software that resides on your server. It monitors events and transmits system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, client-defined timetable. The Electronic Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to deliver proactive service that may result in higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent is made available to IBM service support representatives when they help answer your questions or diagnose problems. Installation and use of IBM Electronic Service Agent for problem reporting enables IBM to provide better support and service for your IBM server.
