Description

IBM InfoSphere Metadata Workbench V8.1.1

InfoSphere Metadata Workbench provides visual Web-based exploration of information assets generated and used by IBM InfoSphere Information Server modules. It enables customers to understand more about their data flow in an extract, transform, load operation. This visualization significantly increases the level of trust in the most important information. In addition, the robust querying capabilities of the Metadata Workbench provide members of the IT community with comprehensive, flexible data lineage reports that enable deep understanding of the data being used in their environments and a method to monitor their data integration activities over time. The powerful impact analysis tool will further arm data analysts and developers to make better decisions when faced with making changes in data integration projects.

Key features in Version 8.1.1:

  • Feature: Extended visibility to metadata that sits outside of Information Server
  • Benefit: With the release of Version 8.1.1, Metadata Workbench will expand its visibility to metadata beyond what is generated by InfoSphere Information Server. This feature allows users to increase their understanding of data lineage reports to information assets and relationships that exist outside of Information Server. The data lineage extender will allow customers to produce data lineage reports that more accurately reflect the flow of information across their heterogeneous environments. This extended visibility to metadata that sits outside of Information Server provides a more comprehensive understanding of an end-to-end data integration flow across the enterprise.
  • Feature: New and improved graphical user interface
  • Benefit: A new graphical interface for data lineage and relationship analysis reporting delivers improved usability and productivity by providing users with a powerful and interactive interface that allows users to more easily view and manage their reports. The key features of this new graphical user interface are: Display, List, Find, Zoom, Pan, Print, and Save.
  • Feature: Extended data lineage to additional Information Server metadata
  • Benefit: The automatic linkage to additional metadata including RCP (Remote Column Propagation) and User-defined SQL (Structured Query Language) helps improve data lineage flow of InfoSphere DataStage™ or InfoSphere QualityStage jobs. This supports customer efforts to improve productivity and decrease overall cost of data integration initiatives.

IBM InfoSphere Business Glossary V8.1.1

InfoSphere Business Glossary is an interactive, Web-based tool that allows business users to create, manage, and share a common set of business terms and categories. This tool allows users to link business terms to technical information assets, enabling business and IT communities to collaborate and govern their data more effectively.

Key features in Version 8.1.1:

  • Feature: Audit trail and history of term attributes
  • Benefit: A history of term attributes allows for long-term management and governance around a business glossary. The ability to track and understand the progression of a term allows teams to more reliably communicate while retaining and maintaining access to past terminology. This audit trail on term attributes is critical to the governance aspects of an enterprise business glossary by helping increase trust in and understanding of information that evolves as a result of data integration project life cycles.
  • Feature: Repeatable saved search capabilities
  • Benefit: The ability to save search parameters enables users to search in their areas of interest. This feature is especially beneficial for multilingual glossaries in which a specific language is of common interest. This feature can help improve overall usability and productivity of Business Glossary users by ensuring they can focus on the key terms and information assets that are important to their business area.
  • Feature: Improved import and export interchange of rich business glossary content
  • Benefit: This enhanced glossary content exchange capability allows users to import rich content, including relationships such as synonyms, related terms, and asset classifications into the Business Glossary. This feature supports enterprise adoption of the Business Glossary by making it easier to integrate with existing glossaries or sources for glossary information that exist across an enterprise, through a standard XML (eXtensible Markup Language) format.

IBM InfoSphere Business Glossary Anywhere V8.1.1

InfoSphere Business Glossary Anywhere is a readily accessible thin client that allows a business user to access business terms in the context of any Windows® application.

  • Feature: Ability to embed a zero-footprint Web service to read or author glossary terms from any application
  • Benefit: A zero-footprint API allows Business Glossary users to access, modify, or create business terms from within any applications and without having to leave that application. Available through a standard REST services API, this feature allows companies to embed capabilities for search, authorship, and modification to business terms in their portals or applications. The rapid adoption benefit of this feature provides organizations with tools to support efforts to shorten return on their investments.

Charge metrics definitions

Processor Value Unit (PVU)

PVU is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. PVU entitlements are based on processor families (vendors and brands). A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for the appropriate number of PVUs based on the level or tier of all processor cores activated and available for use by the program on the server. Some programs allow licensing to less than the full capacity of the server's activated processor cores, sometimes referred to as sub-capacity licensing. For programs which offer sub-capacity licensing, if a server is partitioned utilizing eligible partitioning technologies, then a PoE must be obtained for the appropriate number of PVUs based on all activated processor cores available for use in each partition where the program runs or is managed by the program. Refer to the International Passport Advantage Agreement Attachment for Sub-Capacity Terms or the program's License Information to determine applicable sub-capacity terms. The PVU entitlements are specific to the program and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with PVU entitlements of another program.

For general overview of PVUs for processor families (vendors and brands), go to

http://www-306.ibm.com/software/lotus/passportadvantage/ pvu_licensing_for_customers.html

To calculate the exact PVU entitlements required for the program, go to

https://www-112.ibm.com/software/howtobuy/passportadvantage/ valueunitcalculator/vucalc.wss

Authorized User

Authorized User is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. An Authorized User is an individual (named or unnamed) within or outside of your enterprise. The program may be installed on one or more computers or servers and accessed by the number of users authorized by the Proof of Entitlement (PoE). You must have an entitlement for each Authorized User accessing the program or any program component in any manner directly or indirectly (for example, via a multiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means.

IBM Electronic Services
Bottom rule

IBM has transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to help you achieve higher system availability. Electronic Services is a Web-enabled solution that offers an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support available for IBM servers. These services are designed to provide the opportunity for greater system availability with faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. Electronic Services comprises two separate, but complementary, elements: Electronic Services news page and Electronic Services Agent.

The Electronic Services news page is a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems.

The Electronic Service Agent™ is no-additional-charge software that resides on your server. It monitors events and transmits system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, client-defined timetable. The Electronic Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to deliver proactive service that may result in higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent is made available to IBM service support representatives when they help answer your questions or diagnose problems. Installation and use of IBM Electronic Service Agent for problem reporting enables IBM to provide better support and service for your IBM server.
