On January 30, 2008, IBM introduced a new family of products under the name of InfoSphere to enable organizations to transform information into a trusted asset for business. The InfoSphere product family name describes a new category of information middleware that integrates and transforms information into a trusted asset.
InfoSphere Data Architect V7.5.1 is a renaming of IBM Rational Data Architect V7.5 to integrate and feature its role in InfoSphere Foundation Tools, an open set of tools that help prepare an organization to adopt an information agenda. Organizations can use InfoSphere Data Architect to help align business and IT to create a trusted information asset and to accelerate data integration projects.
InfoSphere Data Architect is a collaborative data design solution to discover, model, relate, and standardize diverse and distributed data assets. It enables users to:
- Create logical and physical data models
- Discover, explore, and visualize the structure of data sources
- Discover or identify relationships between disparate data sources
- Compare and synchronize the structure of two data sources
- Analyze and enforce compliance to enterprise standards
- Leverage integration with the InfoSphere Foundation Tools, InfoSphere Information Server, IBM Rational Software Delivery Platform, and IBM industry models
- Design data models for DB2®, Informix® Dynamic Server, Oracle, Sybase, Microsoft® SQL Server, MySQL, and Teradata
InfoSphere Data Architect contains all the same features and functions of IBM Rational Data Architect V7.5, which includes:
- Model extensions to define privacy attributes and integration with Optim solutions that will enhance software development governance for test data management and data privacy. These enhancements improve re-usability and scalability of the Optim Test Data Management Solution and the Optim Data Privacy Solution and accelerate enterprise consistency in governing data privacy across test environments.
- Integration with the IBM Rational Software Delivery Platform V7.5 enabling users to combine tools within the same Eclipse instance, providing seamless movement between tasks and flexibility in viewing information from different perspectives.

IPLA and Subscription and Support considerations
IPLA licenses can be transferred from one machine to another within, but not limited to an enterprise. You may aggregate the capacity for all the processors the product is operated on to achieve a more economic price. This will result in a single Proof of Entitlement (PoE). It is your responsibility to manage the distribution of Value Units within the limits of the entitlement of the product license.
Subscription and Support must cover the same capacity as the product license entitlement. Subscription and Support will be available in the country in which the agreement is made.
