| Overview |
IBM eDiscovery Analyzer V2.1, a key component of IBM's proactive, platform-based eDiscovery solutions suite, enables legal analysts and supporting IT specialists to quickly refine, analyze, and prioritize case matter created by IBM eDiscovery Manager. It provides early insight into a case helping clients to dramatically reduce eDiscovery review costs.
IBM eDiscovery Analyzer V2.1 is an electronic discovery (eDiscovery) search and analysis tool for e-mail designed to help legal analysts and supporting IT specialists:
- Quickly identify irrelevant, non-responsive, and privileged e-mails to reduce case matter to a much smaller and relevant data set
- Gain early insight into a case, understand key facts, locate key pieces of evidence, identify key witnesses, and form early case strategies
- Flag, organize, and prioritize documents for review, and define the appropriate review strategy
- Gain a clear view of available case matter to effectively negotiate queries and term lists during the meet and confer stage
- Preserve chain of custody to ensure security, auditability, and defensibility
IBM eDiscovery Analyzer V2.1 provides the following key capabilities:
- Open, unstructured information management architecture-based search and text analytics capabilities, including entity extraction, faceted navigation, conceptual search, time-series analysis, and more
- Auto-categorization of case information by concepts such as phrases, senders and recipients, people and companies mentioned, intecompany and intracompany traffic, and other entities
- Advanced search capabilities, including support for boolean, proximity, fielded, fuzzy, stemmed, and wildcard searches
- Flagging of individual e-mails, multiple e-mails, or an entire result, and removal of "false positives"
- Audit trail and chain of custody, and a privilege model for case access, to enable clients to ensure security, auditability, and defensibility
- Easy-to-use, Web 2.0-based user interface requiring minimal user training
Together with IBM eDiscovery Manager, IBM eDiscovery Analyzer provides the foundation for a proactive eDiscovery platform that leverages key IBM Information Management capabilities. It enables organizations to gain agility in responding to litigation with a lower cost, in-house approach, rather than fully outsourcing the eDiscovery process.
Both IBM eDiscovery Manager and IBM eDiscovery Analyzer are optimized for IBM Content Manager and IBM FileNet Content Manager e-mail archives created by IBM CommonStore and IBM FileNet Email Manager.

| Description |
IBM eDiscovery Analyzer has the ability to take in and process IBM eDiscovery Manager case folders and index them for further analysis. The primary user interface, as in the case of IBM eDiscovery Manager, is a convenient search mechanism for users to narrow and filter the case results by searching for specific terms. Additionally, legal analysts can utilize the timeline visualization mechanism to evaluate the results such as an actual-to-expected bar graph for the periods of time associated with the case or a particular search. Users can also use the facet analysis to determine phrases, recipients, senders, people, companies, and flags to perform even more complete analysis.
The user is then able to flag individual e-mails or groups of e-mails according to their pertinence to the case. The ability to cull out extraneous or irrelevant correspondence lets the organization significantly reduce redundant or unnecessary e-mails turned over for analysis, thus reducing the associated cost of those extras.
Once the pre-analysis is complete, the case can then be committed back to IBM eDiscovery Manager for export to review.
Accessibility by people with disabilities
A US Section 508 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) can be requested via the IBM Web site
Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act
IBM eDiscovery is capable as of October 3, 2008 , when used in accordance with IBM's associated documentation, of satisfying the applicable requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, provided that any assistive technology used with the product properly interoperates with it. A U.S. Section 508 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT), containing details on the products accessibility compliance, can be requested on the following Web site
IPLA and Subscription and Support considerations
IPLA licenses can be transferred from one machine to another within, but not limited to an enterprise. You may aggregate the capacity for all the processors the product is operated on to achieve a more economic price. This will result in a single Proof of Entitlement (PoE). It is your responsibility to manage the distribution of Value Units within the limits of the entitlement of the product license.
Subscription and Support must cover the same capacity as the product license entitlement. Subscription and Support will be available in the country in which the agreement is made.

Charge metrics definitions
Definitions
User Value Unit (UVU)
UVU is the metric by which this program is licensed. UVU entitlements are based on the number of users for the given program. A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for the appropriate number of UVUs required for your environment as defined by the specific program terms. The UVU entitlements are specific to the program and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with UVU entitlements of another software program. UVU licensing offers price benefits for customers by enabling a lower cost of incremental growth of resources. To understand these benefits of UVU licensing, and to determine how many UVUs to obtain for the program, please contact your IBM representative.
Custodian User
Custodian User means one and only one specific individual (named or unnamed) within or outside your enterprise, whose email content will be searched, or is authorized by you to be searched, at any time by the program, either directly or indirectly (via a multiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means.
Enterprise
Enterprise means any legal entity that at all times (i) you own or have under your common control by a factor of fifty percent (50%) or more and (ii) that is the legal entity that is authorized to execute and administer this agreement on behalf of the enterprise. For the purposes of any enterprise license granted under this agreement, Enterprise will exclude (i) any new entity acquired by virtue of merger or acquisition after the effective date of this agreement, and (ii) any entity that, at any time during the term of this agreement, is sold, spun off, liquidated, or that otherwise ceases to satisfy the elements of the definition of enterprise set forth above.
License
License means each license granted under this agreement by IBM to you, to use the program as listed on a PoE.
General charge terms
UVU entitlements are based on the number of users for the given program. A PoE must be obtained for the appropriate number of UVU required for your environment as defined by the specific program terms. The UVU entitlements are specific to a program and may not be exchanged, interchanged or aggregated with User Value Unit entitlements of another program. To determine the number of UVU license entitlements required, refer to the UVU license conversion table.
In addition, if you are licensed on a UVU basis and the program you are licensed to use is incremented on a Custodian basis (CUVU), the following will apply: each Custodian User licensed under a Custodian UVU entitlement, as indicated in the applicable PoE, may access that program or any component of that program up to the authorized level. At all times, the number of Custodian Users accessing the program or any component of the program in any manner, directly or indirectly or through any other means must not exceed your entitlement to use the program, as indicated on the applicable PoEs.
