IBM® Getting
Started Sub-capacity Pricing for z/OS® IPLA software offers entry pricing
for customers with low usage on select IBM WebSphere® programs and the applicable
Subscription and Support annual maintenance charge, licensed by the International
Program License Agreement (IPLA).
Getting Started Sub-capacity Pricing helps you:
- Deploy small projects on z/OS with improved price/performance
- Provide greater software licensing flexibility by improving alignment
between software use and software charges
- Increase LPAR capacity without changing software charges for a constant
workload
- Transition smoothly to traditional sub-capacity pricing as workload grows

Getting Started Sub-capacity Pricing delivers additional flexibility to
options described in the initial IBM sub-capacity pricing announcement for z/OS IPLA
programs. For information, refer to Software Announcement 204-184, dated August 10, 2004.
Statement of direction
IBM intends
to provide Getting Started Sub-capacity Pricing for IBM WebSphere Portal Enable for z/OS during the
second half of 2008.
IBM intends
to provide Getting Started Sub-capacity Pricing for IBM WebSphere Extended Deployment for z/OS during
the third quarter of 2008. This includes both WebSphere Virtual Enterprise and WebSphere eXtreme
Scale, the new feature names for the Operations Optimization and Data Grid
features of WebSphere Extended
Deployment for z/OS by
Individual Components (5655-S33).

Getting Started Sub-capacity Pricing terms and conditions are available
for eligible z/OS IPLA
programs installed on System z™ machines that have implemented sub-capacity
pricing for:
- Workload License Charges (WLC) or Entry Workload License Charges (EWLC)
offerings
- IPLA sub-capacity for System z
Additionally, compliance with the terms and conditions specified in the
amendment to the IPLA contract, Amendment for IBM System z Programs Sub-Capacity Pricing
(Z125-6929), is required.

z processors (or equivalent) are eligible:
- z10 EC
- z9™ BC
- z9 EC
- z900
- z990
- z800
- z890
Installation and use of the Sub-Capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT) V15.1 is
required for Getting Started Sub-capacity Pricing for z/OS IPLA software. While Getting Started
Sub-capacity Pricing is supported on native z/OS V1.6 systems, it is not supported
on z/OS V1.6
guest systems running under z/VM®. When running with guests under z/VM, Getting
Started Sub-capacity Pricing products must be running on a guest system with z/OS V1.7
or a later.

Planned effective date for Getting Started Sub-capacity Pricing
The earliest effective date for Getting Started Sub-capacity Pricing based
on Sub-capacity Reporting Tool (SCRT) reporting is for SMF data collected
starting on May 2, 2008. SCRT V15.1.0 has been enhanced to report on Getting
Started Sub-capacity Pricing and has a planned availability date of May 12,
2008.
The earliest date IBM will accept customer reports using SCRT V15.1.0 is
for the reporting period of May 2, 2008, to June 1, 2008.

Getting Started Sub-capacity Pricing offers entry pricing for customers
with select WebSphere programs
and the applicable Subscription and Support annual maintenance charge, licensed
by the International Program License Agreement (IPLA). Getting Started Sub-capacity
Pricing offers less than the full LPAR (sub-capacity) license charge for up
to 10% of the LPAR utilization consumed by the workload.
Getting Started Sub-capacity Pricing requires implementation of:
- Workload License Charges (WLC)
- Entry Workload License Charges (EWLC)
Machines with either sub-capacity WLC or sub-capacity EWLC are eligible
for Getting Started Sub-capacity Pricing on eligible z/OS IPLA programs.

Value Unit pricing
The z/OS programs
are priced according to Value Units. Value Unit pricing enables a lower cost
of incremental growth and enterprise aggregation. Each z/OS program
with Value Unit pricing has a single price per Value Unit and a conversion
plan, called Value Unit Exhibit, for converting from MSUs to Value Units.
Each eligible z/OS program is licensed by sub-capacity execution-based
terms.

Required license capacity - the quantity of each z/OS program
needed to satisfy applicable IBM terms and conditions.

Entitled license capacity - the quantity of each z/OS program
you have purchased.
Execution-based terms apply to z/OS programs with value based on the capacity
of the execution (run-time) environment.
The applicable type of sub-capacity terms for z/OS programs is determined solely by IBM.
