IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture V6.2 delivers real-time data integration across diverse data
stores and platforms. IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture for Oracle Replication V3.1 is a
high-performance, bidirectional solution for Oracle environments that uses change data capture
technology to:
-
Integrate high volumes of data with significantly reduced impact to the production system.
-
Support continuous extract, transform, and load functionality across systems. Changes are captured
as they happen, allowing up-to-the-minute data to flow between systems to support real-time
reporting, business intelligence, and synchronization of applications.
InfoSphere Change Data Capture and InfoSphere Change Data Capture for Oracle Replication can be
deployed quickly using a graphical user interface.
Features
Over time, you will be contacted by IBM to migrate your use entitlements from the current portfolio
to the new portfolio. Refer to the

InfoSphere Change Data Capture and InfoSphere Change Data Capture for Oracle Replication, flexible
products for many business scenarios, support a variety of enterprise architectures and replication
configurations whether it's unidirectional, bidirectional, cascading, or a data distribution
environment. Features include:
-
One-to-one: Source and target have similar structure.
-
Live audit: A complete audit trail of source to the target.
-
Adaptive apply: Used when you know that the source and target are currently not synchronized
(identical copies of each other) and you want to apply data from the source as quickly as possible
to the target.
-
Summarization: Used to accumulate or subtract numerical values on the target.
-
One-to-one consolidation: Used to merge data scattered across different tables into a single row.
-
One-to-many consolidation: Used to apply a source lookup table change to all target rows affected
by the change.
-
Conflict detection: Uses standard or customized methods to resolve conflicts to ensure data
integrity.
Custom business logic can be integrated at several points within the replication process.
Transformations, custom expressions, and custom business logic add to the flexibility of InfoSphere
Change Data Capture and InfoSphere Change Data Capture for Oracle Replication enabling you to
customize your data integration flow and configure your replication environment. This can help
lower total cost of ownership.
Throughput and latency statistics provide visibility into replication processes for monitoring and
troubleshooting. Graphs are displayed for a visual representation of throughput and latency. This
enables a quicker assessment of the health and status of the environment. A replication diagram
displays the relationships between data stores in the replication environment. This assists with
monitoring as well as problem detection and diagnosis. The result for you is increased peace of
mind since the state of the replication environment is readily available, and less time and effort
are required to troubleshoot problems.
Upgrades, migrations, and trade ups
Over time, you will be contacted by IBM to migrate your use entitlements from the current DataMirror
heritage portfolio to the replacement portfolio. You must be current on maintenance to be eligible
for migrations. If not current, you will have to pay a maintenance reinstatement fee.
Migration is for the same capacity as currently licensed when converted to the pricing metric
announced for the replacement offering (for example, conversion of Value Units for a particular
server tier to Processor Value Units). Initial migration quotes are generated using standard
ratios. Migration also ensures that you are entitled to use the software on the same systems you
are currently managing by adjusting the Processor Value Unit quantities as required.
You do not have to migrate your existing offerings prior to purchasing additional capacity in
Passport Advantage®.

IPLA and Subscription and Support considerations
IPLA licenses can be transferred from one machine to another within, but not limited to an
enterprise. You may aggregate the capacity for all the processors the product is operated on to
achieve a more economic price. This will result in a single Proof of Entitlement (PoE). It is your
responsibility to manage the distribution of Value Units within the limits of the entitlement of the
product license.
Subscription and Support must cover the same capacity as the product license entitlement.
Subscription and Support will be available in the country in which the agreement is made.

IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture and IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture for Oracle Replication are
integrated into the IBM Information Management software portfolio. These products are intended for:
-
Customers who need accurate and frequent sales and customer reports to make good operational
decisions regarding pricing, merchandising, and inventory management. This is enabled through
consolidation of key business data from diverse operational systems into a centralized data
warehouse in real time.
-
Companies that want more business agility through real-time change data capture.
-
Enterprises that require more business visibility through granular data changes in real-time
business intelligence.
-
Organizations that want increased responsiveness to business events and the ability to capitalize on
upcoming business opportunities through event detection.
-
Retailers who want to sell in stores, over the Web, and by phone, and who need consistent up-to-date
information accessible to all three channels. An example is helping to ensure that wedding registry
purchases aren't duplicated and that customers can inquire over the phone or on the Web about
product availability and the status of orders completed through other channels.
-
Public companies that need to do consolidated financial reporting across a range of transactional
systems in different regions, departments, or business units.
-
Companies that need to migrate data from an incompatible Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
application of an acquired company into their own ERP application (or between incompatible versions
of an ERP application).
-
Shipping companies that want customers to be able to access real-time shipment information on their
Web site while reducing the impact on their mission-critical logistics systems they use to help
provide for efficient, continuous operations.
-
Government agencies that want to provide public access to up-to-date information on criminal
proceedings on the Internet but seek to avoid letting users directly access sensitive information on
offenders.
-
Financial Services companies that need to flow data from legacy financial systems on mainframes into
systems on open platforms to support Internet-based communications, statement processing, and other
applications more efficiently with minimal impact on key legacy systems.
-
Health insurers that need to offload queries, reports, and backups to avoid impacting performance
and user response times on their claims processing systems that are essential for operations.

Charge metrics definitions
Value Unit
A Value Unit is a pricing charge metric for program license entitlements which is based upon the
quantity of a specific designated measurement used for a given program. Each program has a
designated measurement. The most commonly used designated measurement is a processor core.
However, for select programs, there are other designated measurements such as users or resources
which may include servers, client devices, and messages. The number of Value Unit entitlements
required for a program depends on how the program is deployed in your environment and must be
obtained from a Value Unit table. You must obtain a PoE for the calculated number of Value Unit
entitlements for your implementation. The Value Unit entitlements are specific to a program and may
not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Unit entitlements of another program.
Processor (Value Unit)
A processor core is a functional unit within a computing device that interprets and executes
instructions. A processor core consists of at least an instruction control unit and one or more
arithmetic or logic unit. With multicore technology, each core is considered a processor. Not all
processor cores require the same number of Processor Value Unit entitlements. To calculate the
number of Processor Value Unit entitlements required, refer to the Processor Value Unit table on the
following Web site
With full capacity licensing, a PoE must be acquired for the appropriate
number of Processor Value Units based on all activated processor cores
available for use on the server.
