Description

Key benefits:

  • Delivers support with the IBM backing for those that need it
  • Delivers maintenance fixes and updates
  • Delivers a clear path to advanced capabilities through the DB2 Family middleware portfolio

For additional information, refer to

The annual, renewable subscription support offering is priced per server. You are allowed use of DB2 Express-C with FTL on a server that:

  • Has a maximum of two processors available to DB2 Express-C
  • Makes a maximum of 4 GB of memory available for database shared memory

DB2 Express-C with FTL is available for purchase worldwide. Technical support is provided in English. The offering can be purchased via Passport Advantage® Express or Passport Advantage.

You must obtain a server FTL for each data server accessing the product in any manner. A server FTL may not be reassigned unless the purchaser is replacing the original assignee on a long-term or permanent basis.

Note: When you purchase a server FTL under the Passport Advantage Express program, IBM will automatically extend the license term for an additional year at the prevailing price unless you notify IBM before the license expires that you do not want an extension. The subsequent FTL term starts when the initial FTL term expires. The price for this subsequent term is currently 100 percent of the initial FTL price, but is subject to change.

If you notify IBM that you do not wish to extend the license term, then you must stop using the product when the license expires. For example, if you purchase an initial twelve-month FTL, then your right to use the program will expire at the end of the term, or in one year. At that point, you can either stop using the product or buy a new twelve-month FTL to extend the term. This subsequent license will cost the same as the initial license. When this license expires, you are no longer authorized to use the program. You must either stop using the product or buy another subsequent FTL at 100 percent of the initial license cost.

Accessibility by people with disabilities

A U.S. Section 508 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) can be requested via the IBM Web site

Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act

IBM DB2 Express-C is capable as of July 2, 2007, when used in accordance with IBM's associated documentation, of satisfying the applicable requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, provided that any assistive technology used with the product properly interoperates with it. A U.S. Section 508 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT), containing details on the products accessibility compliance, can be requested at

IPLA and subscription and support considerations

IPLA licenses can be transferred from one machine to another within, but not limited to an enterprise. You may aggregate the capacity for all the processors the product is operated on to achieve a more economic price. This will result in a single Proof of Entitlement (PoE). It is your responsibility to manage the distribution of Value Units within the limits of the entitlement of the product license.

Subscription and Support must cover the same capacity as the product license entitlement. Subscription and Support will be available in the country in which the agreement is made.

Security, auditability, and control

To protect data and resources associated with a database server, DB2 Express-C 9 uses a combination of external security services and internal access control information. To access a database server, the user must pass some security checks before being given access to database data or resources.

DB2 Express-C 9 interfaces with external security mechanisms available with operating systems on which DB2 products are supported as well as support for Kerberos security mechanism. DB2 Express-C 9 has an integrated audit facility that can be used to track data access by users. The subsequent analysis of an audit log can lead to improvements in the control of data access and the ultimate prevention of malicious or careless unauthorized access to the data.

The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities.

Server

A server is a computer system that executes requested procedures, commands, or applications to one or more user and/or client devices. A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for each server regardless of the number of processors and partitions in the server on which the program runs or for each server managed by the program. Where blade technology is employed, each blade is considered a separate server.
