WebSphere Adapter products: Unless otherwise noted, all WebSphere Adapter products in this release provide enablement support for all locales and translation for the national languages listed below, and their associated operating systems:

Enablement for these WebSphere Adapters includes bidirectional scripts (Arabic and Hebrew). Enablement support for bidirectional scripts is only provided on Windows and Linux platforms. Enablement is limited by support provided by third-party applications. WebSphere Adapter for Flat Files and WebSphere Adapter for JDBC support GB18030 for Simplified Chinese, and the remaining products are exempt. All languages will be made available simultaneously per the specified availability dates.

Because the adapters can support different solutions, you can deploy one adapter into different integration scenarios, simplifying your architecture.

Furthermore, the WebSphere Adapter family provides first-class support for leading packaged applications, and a comprehensive set of capabilities to access applications through common standards and technologies. As of this release, the WebSphere Adapter portfolio includes more than 30 products.
New WebSphere Adapters
WebSphere Adapters V6.0 introduces new adapters based on open standards. These adapters implement the J2EE Connector Architecture (JCA) 1.5 specification, and they exploit the Enterprise Metadata Discovery (EMD) specification for wizard-driven configuration and the Service Data Objects (SDO) specification for exchanging data. The adapters support WebSphere Process Server V6.0 and WebSphere Integration Developer V6.0.
The JCA 1.5 specification, an enhanced feature of J2EE 1.4, provides a solid runtime foundation upon which to deliver adapters. JCA 1.5 introduces the bidirectional exchange of business data and specifies enhanced quality of service features required to address the needs of mission-critical adapter deployments.
The EMD specification addresses the need for rich, standardized tooling interfaces for JCA adapters to easily service-enable applications without Java coding. WebSphere Integration Developer provides a wizard which leverages EMD to interact with the WebSphere Adapters during configuration to discover the services provided by the application, to import a metadata description of selected services, and to generate the artifacts required for an integration solution to interact with the application services through the adapter. To facilitate the exchange of business data in support of a service-oriented architecture, the WebSphere Adapters use SDOs as outlined by the EMD specification.

WebSphere Process Server V6.0 and WebSphere Integration Developer V6.0 introduce Service Component Architecture (SCA) to facilitate the assembly of solution components in a service-oriented architecture. SCA is fully integrated with WebSphere Adapters as service components. WebSphere Integration Developer leverages the EMD service descriptions provided by WebSphere Adapters to generate the artifacts necessary for SCA to interact with the WebSphere Adapters.
Each offering, which includes a new WebSphere Adapter based on JCA, also includes the corresponding WebSphere Business Integration Adapter and its prerequisite WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Framework. While the new WebSphere Adapters based on JCA support only WebSphere Process Server, the corresponding WebSphere Business Integration Adapters provide support for the full range of integration servers, including WebSphere Process Server, WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker, WebSphere InterChange Server, WebSphere Business Integration Server Foundation, and WebSphere Information Integrator, among others. Users requiring either or both adapters for use with any of these integration servers need purchase only the new WebSphere Adapter offering.
Based on their particular requirements, WebSphere Process Server users may prefer the WebSphere Adapters based on JCA. The WebSphere Business Integration Adapters, included in the offerings, may be preferred by WebSphere Process Server users who require additional function or a lightweight distributed adapter runtime.
Where a new WebSphere Adapter offering is not available, users should continue to purchase the WebSphere Business Integration Adapter which meets their requirements.
WebSphere Adapter for Flat Files V6.0 includes the following:
- WebSphere Adapter for Flat Files V6.0
- WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for JText V5.6
- WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Framework V2.6
The WebSphere Adapter for Flat Files enables integration with applications which provide a basic flat file interface. This adapter can be used with applications which do not provide programmable or service interfaces, and for which integration at the data tier is impractical. This JCA resource adapter facilitates the bi-directional exchange of any type of text or binary file, and provides the ability to write to new files, append to or overwrite existing files, poll a directory for new files to deliver to the server, retrieve target files, list the files in a directory, and delete target files. The adapter implements EMD to facilitate the generation of service descriptions and configuration artifacts for the adapter.
Use WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for JText V5.6 with WebSphere Process Server for File Transfer Protocol (FTP) support and to leverage WebSphere Business Integration Data Handlers. This adapter should also be used with integration servers other than WebSphere Process Server.

WebSphere Adapter for JDBC V6.0 includes the following:

The WebSphere Adapter for JDBC enables object-oriented integration with applications through the data tier. This adapter can be used with applications which provide specific interface logic within the data tier or those that do not provide programmable or service interfaces. This JCA resource adapter integrates with database management systems through the exchange of relational data including tables, views, and stored procedures, and it provides comprehensive support for create, update, delete, and retrieve operations, among others. The adapter also provides a polling event mechanism to detect and deliver events from any application based on a relational database. The adapter implements EMD to generate service descriptions and configuration artifacts from database tables, views, and stored procedures. The adapter supports any JDBC V2.0, or later driver for features outlined in the adapter user guide.
Use WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for JDBC V2.6 with integration servers other than WebSphere Process Server.

WebSphere Adapter for PeopleSoft Enterprise V6.0 includes the following:

The WebSphere Adapter for PeopleSoft Enterprise enables bi-directional integration with PeopleSoft Enterprise applications running on PeopleTools V8.40-8.46. This JCA resource adapter interfaces with PeopleSoft Enterprise applications through the PeopleTools Component Interface Java API. The adapter also provides a polling event mechanism to detect and deliver events from PeopleSoft Enterprise applications. The adapter implements EMD to generate service descriptions and configuration artifacts from Component Interfaces.
Use WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for PeopleSoft V3.1 with WebSphere Process Server to integrate with PeopleSoft Enterprise applications running on earlier versions of PeopleTools. This adapter should also be used with integration servers other than WebSphere Process Server.

WebSphere Adapter for SAP Software V6.0 includes the following:

The WebSphere Adapter for SAP Software enables bi-directional integration with SAP applications running on SAP Web Application Server V6.20-6.40, as well as any SAP R/3 V4.x application. This JCA resource adapter leverages Java APIs to access BAPIs through RFC, and also to provide the bi-directional exchange of IDocs through ALE. The adapter implements EMD to generate service descriptions and configuration artifacts for BAPIs, RFCs, and Idocs.
Use WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for mySAP.com V6.0 with WebSphere Process Server to integrate with SAP applications through additional interfaces, including the Extension Module for advanced event notification, the RFC Server Module for synchronous requests from SAP applications, the Hierarchical Dynamic Retrieve Module for non-invasive data access, as well as integration to SAP R/3 V3.1I systems. This adapter should also be used with integration servers other than WebSphere Process Server.

WebSphere Adapter for Siebel Business Applications V6.0 includes the following:

This JCA resource adapter leverages the Siebel Java Data Bean Object API to access Application Service Interfaces (ASIs), Business Services, and Integration Objects. The adapter implements EMD to generate service descriptions and configuration artifacts for Integration Objects and ASIs.
Use WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for Siebel eBusiness Applications V4.6 with WebSphere Process Server to integrate with earlier versions of Siebel eBusiness Applications, and to integrate with Siebel applications by accessing Siebel Business Objects and Business Components. This adapter should also be used with integration servers other than WebSphere Process Server.

WebSphere Adapter Toolkit V6.0 enables customers and Business Partners to develop custom adapters to meet unique business requirements. The toolkit helps to create either a basic JCA 1.5 adapter, or an adapter which leverages the additional capabilities of the Adapter Foundation Classes utilized by WebSphere Adapters. The Eclipse-based toolkit includes the following:
- A wizard to create an adapter project including the Java code stubs for the appropriate adapter classes.
- The Adapter Foundation Classes which provide a consistent implementation for WebSphere Adapters based on JCA 1.5.
- A graphical Resource Adapter Deployment Descriptor Editor to ease creation and modification of the XML deployment descriptor file.
- A sample adapter and its associated enterprise application are provided with source. The sample adapter leverages the Adapter Foundation Classes and implements EMD.

Common Criteria — A Common Criteria Initial Assessment was performed by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) Common Criteria Testing Laboratory on WebSphere Adapters V6.0. The Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme (CCEVS) lab determined that WebSphere Adapters derived its security functionality from the WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment V6.0.1 runtime environment and does not include additional security functionality. Therefore, a Common Criteria evaluation is not necessary because this product is neither Information Assurance (IA) nor IA enabled. WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment technology provides the runtime foundation for the prerequisite WebSphere Process Server V6.0.
FIPS 104-2 — The cryptographic functionality of WebSphere Adapters V6.0 is managed by the WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment V6.0.1 runtime environment and WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment has been FIPS-140-2 certified. WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment technology provides the runtime foundation for the prerequisite WebSphere Process Server V6.0.
Enhanced WebSphere Business Integration Adapters
In addition to delivering enhanced features, WebSphere Business Integration Adapters in this release provide expanded platform support. For additional information, refer to the Hardware requirements and Software requirements sections.
WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for CORBA V1.3 has been enhanced to support WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Framework V2.6.
WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for E-mail V5.5 provides the following enhancements:
- Support for binary mail attachments
- Extended access to e-mail message headers to support different content types (such as text/plain, text/HTML) when sending e-mail messages
- Enhanced ability to set session properties when connecting to a mail server
WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for Enterprise JavaBean V1.2 provides the following enhancements:
- Simplified synchronization between an EJB and business object
- Simplified business object structure for EJBs which pass objects
- Support for EJBs which inherit methods from other EJBs
- Extended data type support, including collections
WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for HTTP V1.3 provides the following enhancements:
- Extended HTTP operations, including GET and HEAD
- Ability to pass protocol data to the data handler for enhanced transformation capability
- Improved performance
- Support for WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Framework V2.6
WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for iSeries™ V2.1 provides the following enhancements:
- In addition to RPG, access to additional ILE programs including COBOL and Java programs.
- Object Discovery Agent (ODA) provides enhanced generation of business objects from RPG and RPGLE programs.
- The adapter and ODA are globalized in this release.
WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for JMS V2.8 provides the following enhancements:
- Support for JMS Object messages to enable the exchange of serialized Java objects
- Multithreaded event processing when polling for events, and other performance optimizations
WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for Portal Infranet V4.4 provides the following enhancements:
- Support for Portal Infranet V6.7
- Extended error reporting for improved problem determination
- Support for WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Framework V2.6
WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for WebSphere MQ V2.8 provides the following enhancements:
- Support for JMS Object messages to enable the exchange of serialized Java objects
- Multithreaded event processing when polling for events, and other performance optimizations
WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for WebSphere MQ Workflow V2.8 provides the following enhancement:
- Added support for new message types, ActivityExpired and TerminateProgram, which are supported in WebSphere MQ Workflow V3.3.0, or later
- Support for WebSphere MQ Workflow V3.5 client libraries
WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker V2.8 provides the following enhancements:
- Support for JMS Object messages to enable the exchange of serialized Java objects
- Multithreaded event processing when polling for events, and other performance

Software Maintenance, previously referred to as Software Subscription and Technical Support, is included in the Passport Advantage Agreement. Packaging: This is a Passport Advantage offering only. A separate media pack is provided for each product. Support for all specified operating systems and languages is provided in each media pack. Media packs for all offerings contain CDs. The WebSphere Adapter offerings include separate CDs for the WebSphere Adapter, corresponding WebSphere Business Integration Adapter, and WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Framework included in the offerings.

Limited warranty applies: Yes
Warranty: This program has warranty for a minimum of one year from acquisition from IBM or authorized IBM Business Partner. The warranty provided to the customer, for at least one year from acquisition, is access to databases (read Web sites) for program information and FAQs, including any known fixes to defects, which the customer can download or obtain otherwise and install at leisure.
Program technical support: Technical support of a program product will be available for a minimum of three years from the general availability date, as long as your Software Maintenance is in effect. This technical support allows you to obtain assistance (via telephone or electronic means) from IBM for product-specific, task-oriented questions regarding the installation and operation of the program product. Software Maintenance also provides you with access to updates, releases, and versions of the program. Customers will be notified, via announcement letter, of discontinuance of support with 12 months' notice. If you require additional technical support from IBM, including an extension of support beyond the discontinuance date, contact your IBM representative or IBM Business Partner. This extension may be available for a fee.
Money-back guarantee: If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are the original licensee, return it within 30 days from the invoice date, to the party (either IBM or its reseller) from whom you acquired it, for a refund.
For programs acquired under the IBM International Passport Advantage offering, this term applies only to your first acquisition of the program.

The WebSphere Business Integration Adapter products are included with the WebSphere Adapter products for convenience, and are the most recent product release available at time of order. Each WebSphere Adapter based on JCA included in this release is subject to Software Support Lifecycle in accordance with its product release. The specific versions of WebSphere Business Integration Adapter products included with these WebSphere Adapters are subject to Software Support Lifecycle in accordance with the product release shipped. Lifecycle for WebSphere Business Integration Adapter products will continue to be managed separately from the WebSphere Adapter products, and will be listed separately on the IBM Software Support Lifecycle Web site. Software Maintenance applies: Yes
Software Maintenance, previously referred to as Software Subscription and Technical Support, is included in the Passport Advantage Agreement. Installation and technical support is provided by the Software Maintenance offering of the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement. This fee service enhances customer productivity, with voice and electronic access into IBM support organizations.
IBM includes one year of Software Maintenance with the initial license acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period of Software Maintenance can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option that is available.
While your Software Maintenance is in effect, IBM provides you assistance for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to) questions and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance via telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your information systems (IS) technical support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift hours) of your IBM support center. (This assistance is not available to your end users.) IBM provides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day, every day of the year. For additional details, consult your IBM Software Support Guide at
Software Maintenance does not include assistance for the design and development of applications, your use of programs in other than their specified operating environment, or failures caused by products for which IBM is not responsible under this agreement.
