Overview

IBM Workplace for Business Controls and Reporting helps companies manage and monitor their internal business controls. In light of increased legislation in the area of business controls, IBM Workplace for Business Controls and Reporting V2.5, (formerly IBM Lotus® Workplace for Business Controls and Reporting) is a key solution which provides a unified approach for corporations to document, monitor, and test internal controls that can bring management increased focus regarding control, financial control, and reporting practices while helping to drive down the cost of compliance efforts .

With IBM Workplace for Business Controls and Reporting V2.5, process owners and CFO's, and others in the financial reporting chain have role-based access to crucial data. To help ensure corporate control policies and timelines are met, customized e-mail notifications are available and instant messaging may be used to accelerate exception resolution.

Delivering ongoing business value

IBM Workplace for Business Controls and Reporting V2.5 is based on open standards using industry-leading control frameworks. This approach allows flexibility in developing business solutions while leveraging current IT investments. It also streamlines the complex process involved with compliance-related audits and reporting, and enables customers to potentially save time and money.

V2.5 allows organizations to help drive down the cost of control with new features to help manage organizational change, simplify testing and auditing, and help improve performance through an update option that provides different departments with the most current data at their fingertips.

Description

IBM Workplace for Business Controls and Reporting is a portal-based collaborative Web application designed to assist companies in their efforts to assess internal controls. Companies can now increase their focus on the management of disparate forms of information available in real time to improve decision making and resolve issues which affect business performance. With IBM Workplace for Business Controls and Reporting 2.5, process owners and CFO's and others in the financial reporting chain have role based access to crucial data. To ensure corporate control policies and timelines are met, customized e-mail notifications are available and instant messaging may be used to accelerate exception resolution.

IBM Workplace for Business Controls and Reporting 2.5 can help improve the control management process. Examples include:

The IBM Publications Center

The Publications Center is a worldwide central repository for IBM product publications and marketing material with a catalog of 70,000 items. Extensive search facilities are provided. Payment options for orders are via credit card (in the U.S.) or customer number for 50 countries. A large number of publications are available online in various file formats, and they can all be downloaded by all countries free of charge.

The IBM Publications Notification System (PNS)

PNS enables subscribers to set up profiles of interest by order number/product number. PNS subscribers automatically receive e-mail notifications of all new publications defined in their profiles. These may then be ordered/downloaded from the Publications Center.

Rich client hardware requirements

The minimum rich client processor and memory requirements are as follows:

  • Intel Pentium™ 3 processor, 800 MHz
  • 512 MB RAM

To reduce client startup time, you can use an Intel Pentium 4 processor and increase the amount of memory to, for example, 1 GB. This increase in processor speed and memory do not provide significant performance gains after startup.

Warranty: This program has warranty for a minimum of one year from acquisition from IBM or authorized IBM Business Partner. The warranty provided to the customer, for at least one year from acquisition, is access to databases (read Web sites) for program information and FAQs, including any known fixes to defects, which the customer can download or obtain otherwise and install at leisure.

Program technical support: Technical support of a program product will be available for a minimum of three years from the general availability date, as long as your Software Maintenance is in effect. This technical support allows you to obtain assistance (via telephone or electronic means) from IBM for product-specific, task-oriented questions regarding the installation and operation of the program product. Software Maintenance also provides you with access to updates, releases, and versions of the program. Customers will be notified, via announcement letter, of discontinuance of support with 12 months' notice. If you require additional technical support from IBM, including an extension of support beyond the discontinuance date, contact your IBM representative or IBM Business Partner. This extension may be available for a fee.

Money-back guarantee: If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program, return it within 30 days from the invoice date, to the party (either IBM or its reseller) from whom you acquired it, for a refund. This applies only to your first acquisition of the program.
