Overview

DB2® Identity Resolution and DB2 Relationship Resolution form a new family of products — DB2 Entity Analytics — that allows you to build repositories of identity and relationship information that are sourced from multiple databases. The processes used to build the repositories create resolved identity and relationship information, which can be used directly or in your applications.

The DB2 Identity Resolution software can determine unique identities across data using multiple name variations, addresses, ID numbers, and other commonly used personal data. The DB2 Relationship Resolution software adds the ability to understand nonobvious relationships and connections between individuals, such as shared phone numbers or bank accounts.

The software requires a relational database, such as DB2 Universal Database®.

The DB2 Entity Analytics family of software strengthens IBM's middleware portfolio through a multidimensional approach to analytics that dramatically extends the capabilities of identity-based applications. The combination of DB2 Identity Resolution and DB2 Relationship Resolution provides value to business partners who deliver business intelligence and other applications that might require a single customer view, fraud detection, or Customer Relationship Management across many industries, such as government, banking, insurance, and healthcare.

The Identity Resolution and Relationship Resolution technology is based on both SQL and the Java™ industry standard J2EE, allowing developers to more easily develop, deploy, and maintain analytical business applications. It also complements IBM's open computing approach through its ability to work with both IBM and non-IBM data sources, including Oracle and Microsoft™ databases, enabling customers to integrate this sophisticated technology with their existing technology infrastructure.

DB2 Entity Analytics further extends investments IBM is making in support of analytical solutions, which include DB2 Data Warehouse Edition, DB2 Cube Views, and DB2 Alphablox. IBM also enables industry-specific business intelligence solutions, including the IBM Banking Data Warehouse for financial institutions and the IBM Crime Information Warehouse® for law enforcement.

The IBM Publications Center

The Publications Center is a worldwide central repository for IBM product publications and marketing material with a catalog of 70,000 items. Extensive search facilities are provided. Payment options for orders are via credit card (in the U.S.) or customer number for 50 countries. A large number of publications are available online in various file formats, and they can all be downloaded by all countries free of charge.

The IBM Publications Notification System (PNS) enables subscribers to set up profiles of interest by order number/product number. PNS subscribers automatically receive e-mail notifications of all new publications defined in their profiles. These may then be ordered/downloaded from the Publications Center

Definition of Charge Metrics

Level of Use

Your use of a program may not exceed the level defined by the number of use authorizations (PoEs) you have acquired.

Processor — The "Processor" charge metric is full capacity charging. PoEs must be acquired for all processors that are active on the server where the program or a component of the program is run.

As an example, a customer has ordered a server with four (4) processors. The server is shipped with six (6) processors, but two (2) of them are inactive. Thus, four (4) processors are active for the customer.

  1. IBM defines a physical processor in a computer as a functional unit that interprets and executes instructions. A physical processor consists of at least an instruction control unit and one or more arithmetic and logic units.
  2. Multi-core technology allows two or more processors (commonly called "cores") to be active on a single silicon chip. With multi-core technology, IBM considers each core to be a physical processor. For example, in a dual-core chip, there are two physical processors residing on the single silicon chip.
  3. Threading, a technique that makes a single processor seem to perform as two or more, does not affect the count of physical processors.
  4. Where blade technology is employed, each blade is considered a separate server and charging is based upon the total number of processors on the blade on which the program is run.

Data Source Record

"Data Source Record" (DSR) charge metric is a discrete association to the specific identity of a person, place, or thing that has a set of data elements (relative information) entered into the program from a data source (DS). The relative information of a DSR can be modified so as long as it is modified from the original DS that created it.

A DSR "Proof of Entitlement" (PoE) must be acquired for each 1-1,000,000 (one to 1 million) DSRs entered into the program from any DS.

Warranty: This program has warranty for a minimum of one year from acquisition from IBM or authorized IBM Business Partner. The warranty provided to the customer, for at least one year from acquisition, is access to databases (read Web sites) for program information and FAQs, including any known fixes to defects, which the customer can download or obtain otherwise and install at leisure.

Money-back guarantee: If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program, return it within 30 days from the invoice date to the party (either IBM or its reseller) from whom you acquired it for a refund. This applies only to your first acquisition of the program.

This fee service enhances customer productivity, with voice and electronic access into IBM support organizations.

IBM includes one year of Software Maintenance with the initial license acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period of Software Maintenance can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option that is available.

While your Software Maintenance is in effect, IBM provides you assistance for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to) questions; and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance via telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your information systems (IS) technical support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift hours) of your IBM support center. (This assistance is not available to your end users.) IBM provides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day, every day of the year. For additional details, consult your IBM Software Support Guide at

Software Maintenance does not include assistance for the design and development of applications, your use of programs in other than their specified operating environment, or failures caused by products for which IBM is not responsible under this agreement.
