Ordering information

Parallel ESSL for Linux on POWER V3.2 (5765-G18) is a product with one charge unit: number of active processors. One license is required for each active processor on each of the POWER systems on which Parallel ESSL for Linux on POWER will be installed and run.

Software Maintenance for Parallel ESSL for Linux on POWER V3.2 (5771-PEL or 5773-PEL) should be ordered in a quantity equal to the sum of the active processors on each of the POWER systems on which Parallel ESSL for Linux on POWER will be installed and run.

Sub-capacity pricing, usage, and billing on distributed platforms: This Program is eligible for sub-capacity pricing, usage and billing. The following terms apply to its use:

  1. You must acquire authorization from IBM or its authorized reseller for use of the Program on each processor for each partitioned environment.
  2. IBM and its authorized resellers do not provide credits or refunds for charges already due or paid if a Program's use falls below the authorized entitlement.
  3. If in the future IBM or its authorized reseller makes a license management Program, a Program that records and reports program use information (Information) to IBM or its authorized reseller, available to You for measuring Program use, You agree to appropriately install, configure and execute such license management Program beginning no later than 180 days from the date it is made available to You by IBM or its authorized reseller and continuing for the period that You use the Program.
  4. If IBM or its authorized reseller makes such license management Program available to You with the machine on which You are authorized to execute the Program, You agree to appropriately install, configure and execute such license management Program beginning no later than 180 days from the date on which You begin using the Program on such authorized machine and continuing for the period that You use the Program.
  5. If IBM or its authorized reseller provides the license management Program to You, together with reporting requirements and an e-mail address for transmitting license management reports to IBM or its authorized reseller, You agree to transmit this Information to IBM or its authorized reseller for the purpose of monitoring Your usage of the Program and for billing You for usage of the Program which exceeds Your authorized entitlement. You agree that IBM or its authorized reseller may store and use Your Information internally for any purpose. IBM or its authorized reseller may also share Your Information with third parties such as IBM Business Partners, subcontractors and consultants under contract to IBM or its authorized reseller for purposes of usage monitoring, problem determination, assisting You with performance and capacity planning, assisting IBM or its authorized resellers to enhance products and services and notifying You of Your system status and solutions available to You.
  6. You agree that upon reasonable written notice IBM or its authorized reseller has the right to verify Your compliance on Your premises during normal business hours. IBM or its authorized reseller may use an independent auditor for this purpose with Your prior approval which You agree not to unreasonably withhold or delay. The failure to comply with any of the requirements of this Section 4 will constitute a breach of this Agreement.

For each server or cluster on which Parallel ESSL for Linux on POWER will be run, new users of Parallel ESSL for Linux on POWER V3.2 should specify machine type 5765, model G18, and the defined feature numbers with quantity equal to the total number of processors on which Parallel ESSL for Linux on POWER will be installed or run. For example, if ordering Parallel ESSL for Linux on POWER V3.2 for a server that has 12 processors, order System Product Offering media feature number 1434 and the one-time charge feature number with a quantity of 12.

Sub-capacity pricing terms and conditions

To be eligible for sub-capacity pricing, the machine on which the eligible products are installed and running must be eligible for sub-capacity pricing terms and conditions. Software pricing at less than full machine capacity for eligible products apply when running

  • AIX 5L V5.1, or later, on an IBM eServer pSeries 690 or equivalent partition capable operating system and machine
  • OS/400® V5.1, or later, running on an IBM eServer iSeries server
  • Linux running in an LPAR under AIX 5L V5.1, OS/400 V5.1, or in a partition on an equivalent partition capable operating system and server

Sub-capacity pricing for eligible products is based on the current program pricing methodology but the number of processors will be determined based on the sum of processors for all partitions where the program is defined (used). To obtain pricing at less than full machine capacity for eligible products, you are required to:

  • Install and use, when available, IBM's license use management program which installs with eligible IBM programs.
  • Install available updates to the operating system and eligible products such that license use can be accurately managed.
  • If the use of sub-capacity pricing terms results in a reduced requirement for entitlements, you can reallocate the entitlement difference by distributing entitlements across a larger or different set of systems, or reserve then for future growth. There will be no refunds for these "freed up" entitlements. Subscription, Software Maintenance, and Support volumes and entitlements for existing contracts will continue at the same levels as the acquired licenses.

On/Off Capacity on Demand

To be eligible for On/Off Capacity on Demand pricing, the customer's corresponding hardware must be enabled for temporary capacity, and the required contract — Z125-6907, Amendment for iSeries and pSeries Temporary Capacity On Demand — Software — must be signed before use.

Variable charges: The applicable processor-based OTC will be based on the group of the designated machine on which the program is licensed for use. If the program is designated to a processor in a group for which no charge is listed above, the charge of the next higher group listed applies. For movement to a machine in a higher group, an upgrade charge equal to the difference in the then current charges between the two groups will apply. For movement to a machine in a lower group, here will be no adjustment or refund of charges paid.
