DB2® CommonStore for SAP is an e-business solution for both data archiving and document management that helps SAP users run their businesses more efficiently. For optimum online performance, SAP AG recommends regular archiving of old or infrequently accessed data from SAP systems. Document archiving improves processes and makes it easier to access original documents. With CommonStore, SAP customers can:
The CommonStore does not require the use of any database for its own use, but supports any SAP operational database (DB2 Universal Database®, (UDB) Informix, Oracle, SQL Server, and so on). It leverages IBM's Enterprise Content Management technologies as the back-end archive management system, providing access to non-SAP objects that are stored in enterprise content repositories or providing access to SAP objects from non-SAP applications.
The CommonStore archive solution can easily be expanded into a corporate Enterprise Content Management system, including e-mail archive management for Lotus Domino and Microsoft Exchange Server systems.
DB2 CommonStore is certified by SAP AG as a complementary software product for all SAP-supported ArchiveLink levels. It supports all types of data and documents defined in the SAP ArchiveLink specification and follows the latest SAP ArchiveLink protocols.
Planned availability dates
DB2 CommonStore for SAP, formerly known as IBM Content Manager CommonStore for SAP, has been certified by SAP AG as a complementary software product. It supports all types of data and documents defined in the SAP ArchiveLink specification. For optimum online performance, SAP AG recommends regular archiving of old or infrequently accessed data from SAP systems. What's new in V8.2 for SAP customers
DB2 CommonStore V8.2 brings enhancements for Document Finder that enable you to reach non-SAP document items in the back-end archive system, and provide increased security, SAP Cache Server support, Adobe Output Pak integration, and more flexibility options in back-end archive customization.
CommonStore solution overview
CommonStore is a middleware server between the SAP ArchiveLink interface and the back-end archive management system. CommonStore itself does not store any data or documents, but manages the data and document archive process as it is defined by SAP ArchiveLink protocols. It stores and retrieves the archived content to and from the back-end archive management repositories. The back-end archive management system can be one of the following IBM repositories:
CommonStore exploits all the TSM storage management capabilities. TSM is IBM's enterprise solution for managing storage and protecting data across the network, from laptops to mainframes. TSM supports heterogeneous platforms, fast backup and recovery, nondisruptive application protection, and disk-to-disk backup. Its advanced functions provide automated, policy-based storage management together with reporting and monitoring to reduce daily management, backup snapshots to reduce cost and complexity, and server sharing and load balancing for self-management. CommonStore leverages the scalability of TSM from PC servers through UNIX® and mid-range servers to OS/390® mainframe servers heterogeneous platform coverage for 37 different operating environments and supports approximately 500 storage devices.
The basic CommonStore solution with TSM can be extended with DB2 Content Manager or DB2 Content Manager OnDemand. In conjunction with either of these repositories, CommonStore is the ideal solution for the management of enterprise content and SAP R/3 content and for SAP data and document archiving where access is required for non-SAP users. This integrated solution can become the base for an enterprise-wide content management solution. The CommonStore archive of SAP documents can be accessed by Internet and intranet users through SAP R/3 or Content Manager or Content Manager OnDemand clients, or any other integrated application, thus making the system available to any user who has the proper authorization.
In addition to providing SAP data archive management, these Enterprise Content Management technologies can be expanded to provide a complete content management solution for any document type, Web content, images, faxes, rich media across diverse business processes, and application data, including Siebel, PeopleSoft, Lotus Notes®, and Exchange Server messaging systems. This results in a lower Total Cost of Ownership, and gain in time, money, know-how, and corporate operational efficiency.
The companion product IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) for Enterprise Resource Planning provides automated data protection, reduces the impact of data backups and restores on the R/3 server, and greatly reduces the administrator workload necessary to meet data protection requirements. TSM for ERP allows access to backed-up R/3 data after the entire set is restored, while CommonStore allows immediate access to archived data and documents at a click of a button from the existing user client interface, SAPGUI. This is the best of both worlds. The same infrastructure can be extended for centralized data backup and archive for disaster recovery applications to minimize operational costs and improve availability.

Entry Offering for small install bases
Special pricing is available for customers with small numbers of users who need the same robust archiving capabilities. Entry Offering is technically the same product but with adjusted prices for server and users, with a decreased server price and increased user price.
DB2 CommonStore Entry Offering for SAP
The Entry Offering for SAP requires a back-end archive repository license. It can be combined together with DB2 Content Manager Entry Offering to obtain the necessary back-end archive repositories, DB2 Content Manager and DB2 Content Manager OnDemand, with a limited use license for TSM. TSM is included only in support of Content Manager or Content Manager OnDemand. Direct use of TSM for CommonStore requires a separate TSM license.
SAP customers may also combine this Entry Offering with DB2 CommonStore for Lotus® Domino or Windows Exchange Server Entry Offerings in order to handle e-mail archive management issues. These Entry Offerings are:

The Publications Notification System (PNS) enables subscribers to set up profiles of interest by order number/product number. PNS subscribers automatically receive notifications by e-mail of all new publications defined in their profiles. These may then be ordered/downloaded via the Publications Center.
The exact configuration you need to support your environment with satisfactory response time will vary depending on the size of the objects you are working with and other factors. Individual display response times vary depending on workstation speed, memory, size of objects, and network and server workload. The minimum recommended configurations that follow need to be evaluated and adjusted according to your unique requirements. The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities.
This product is only available via Passport Advantage. It is not available as shrinkwrap.

Program server installs
Your license to DB2 CommonStore for SAP (CSSAP, program number 5724-B87) entitles you to install one or more instances of the CSSAP program server on one physical server or node. One CSSAP program server license authorizes you to access one SAP production system only (see the following section). If you want to install additional program server instances on the same or on additional physical servers or nodes in order to access additional SAP production systems, then you must acquire additional Proofs of Entitlement (PoEs).
SAP production system
An SAP IT landscape (installation environment) may consist of one production system and associated SAP systems used for testing, integration, and/or educational purposes. Your SAP test, integration, and/or education systems do not require additional CSSAP program server licenses, provided that you have a license for each production system. However, if your SAP IT landscape does not consist of a production system, then one CSSAP program server license is required for each such SAP IT landscape, regardless of whether the system is used for testing, integration, and/or educational purposes.
You must acquire a CSSAP user authorization for each SAP-named end user who will access the archive through a CSSAP program server in order to archive, restore, or retrieve SAP data-archive files, or SAP documents (incoming documents, such as faxes and scanned images, reports/print lists, outgoing documents, external documents, and desktop objects associated with or linked to SAP transactions and business objects, and documents stored in the SAP Document Management System). The total number of CSSAP users may not exceed the number authorized by the applicable PoEs or authorized by each product authorization acquired under Passport Advantage. If the total number exceeds the quantity in your PoEs or exceeds your product authorizations acquired under Passport Advantage, you must notify IBM or its reseller as stated in the International Program License Agreement (IPLA). One CSSAP user per program server is included in the CSSAP entitlement.
Entry licensing DB2 CommonStore Entry Offering for SAP
If you have acquired a license to the DB2 CommonStore Entry Offering for SAP (CSEOSAP, program number 5724-E31), then your use of CSEOSAP is governed by the same terms as the standard DB2 CSSAP program (5724-B87) except as expressly modified herein.
The program server and user authorization charge units available under CSSAP are also available through CSEOSAP. However, if you have acquired CSEOSAP, you must license your additional user authorizations through the CSEOSAP user charge unit. Conversely, if you have acquired CSSAP, you must license your additional user authorizations through the CSSAP user charge unit.
Use of DB2 Content Manager or DB2 CMOD with CSSAP or CSEOSAP
If you choose to use DB2 Content Manager (CM) or DB2 CMOD for your back-end archive, with each CSSAP or CSEOSAP program server, you need one CM or CMOD concurrent user license for each CSSAP or CSEOSAP server access. In addition, at least one additional CM or CMOD concurrent user license is required for the administration of the archive. One such concurrent user license is already included with your CM or CMOD server license. You are also authorized to use CM and CMOD as back-end repositories together with TSM, if TSM is used in association with CM or CMOD. If TSM is separately used, then it must be licensed separately.
Use of DB2 Content Manager Entry Offering with CSEOSAP
If you choose to use DB2 Content Manager Entry Offering (CMEO, product number 5724-C95) to implement your archive, with each CSEOSAP program server, you need one CMEO bundle user license for each CSEOLSAP server access. In addition, at least one additional CMEO bundle user license is required for the administration of the archive. You are also authorized to use CM and CMOD as back-end repositories together with TSM, if TSM is used in association with CM or CMOD. If TSM is separately used, then it must be licensed separately.

Warranty: This program has warranty for a minimum of one year from acquisition from IBM or authorized Business Partner. The warranty provided to the customer, for at least one year from acquisition, is access to databases (read Web sites) for program information, FAQs, including any known fixes to defects, which customers can download or obtain otherwise and install at their leisure.
Money-back guarantee: If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program, return it within 30 days from the invoice date, to the party (either IBM or its reseller) from whom you acquired it, for a refund. This applies only to your first acquisition of the program.

Software Maintenance, previously referred to as Subscription and Technical Support, is now included in the Passport Advantage Agreement. Installation and technical support for the products announced in this letter are provided by the Software Maintenance offering of the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement. This fee service enhances customer productivity by providing voice and/or electronic access into the IBM support organizations.
IBM includes one year of Software Maintenance with the initial license acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period of Software Maintenance can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option that is available.
While your Software Maintenance is in effect, IBM provides you assistance for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to) questions, and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance via telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your information systems (IS) technical support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift hours) of your IBM support center.
