IBM Telephone Directory V5.1 for iSeries

Included with WebSphere Application Server — Express for iSeries, IBM Telephone Directory V5.1 for iSeries is a business application with a directory for managing information about people. This browser-based application is ready to use immediately for managing names, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses for company personnel.

This telephone directory application is integrated into the GUI for easy deployment and administration.

Personnel information is managed securely by the OS/400's lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) server.

The telephone directory can be searched and managed using a Web browser, powered by JSPs and servlets running in the application server.

The directory can also be used as an HTTP server or application server security repository for Web user authentication. It provides the following functions:

  • Ability to search by job description

The IBM Telephone Directory supports up to 1,000 entries. If additional entries are needed, contact IBM Global Services to purchase/customize the application.

Web Services Object Runtime Framework (WORF)

Web services are XML-based application functions that can be invoked over the Internet. Included with WebSphere Application Server — Express for iSeries, WORF provides an environment to easily create simple XML-based Web services that access DB2® Using Apache SOAP 2.2, or later, and the Document Access Definition Extension (DADX) standards, you can, with minimal knowledge of SQL or XML, specify a Web Service.

You can also use DB2 UDB Extenders (5722-DE1) to implement Web services within WORF. The DB2 XML Extender (part of 5722-DE1) consists of a set of stored procedures, user-defined types (UDT), and user-defined functions (UDF) that you can use to store and retrieve XML data using DB2. The DB2 XML Extender allows XML documents to be stored intact, and optionally indexed in side tables, using the XML column access method, or as a collection of relational tables using the XML collection access method.

WORF is integrated with WebSphere Application Server — Express for iSeries run time, allowing for easy administration and deployment of DB2 UDB Web services. A sample application is provided and easily deployed from the application server's integrated GUI.

 Express for iSeries
One-year Maintenance 5733-A86

Customers with active IBM Software Subscription or iSeries contracts and a license for WebSphere Application Server Standard Edition for iSeries V3.02 or V3.5 that was acquired before January 24, 2003, will be entitled to an equal number of licenses for WebSphere Application Server — Express for iSeries. To receive maintenance for Express entitlements customers must order maintenance renewal for Express entitlement. Customers requiring additional copies of Express will need to purchase those licenses via your IBM representative or ibm.com.

WebSphere Application Server — Express for iSeries is a stand-alone product with three charge units — processors, users, or developers. Processors and Developers are available in units of one. Users are available in quantities of 20.

Processor Charge Unit for WAS — Express for iSeries

Unless you agree to subcapacity terms, a license is required for every processor on each server.

For example, WebSphere Application Server — Express for iSeries is based on the number of processors in the system or node executing all or any part of the WebSphere Application Server, V5 for iSeries application. Four-way symmetric multiprocessor systems, whether stand-alone systems or nodes in a larger system, require four WebSphere Application Server — Express V5 for iSeries processor licenses.

The flexibility of subcapacity pricing continues to be available for WebSphere Application Server — Express V5 for iSeries. You can pay for software based on the number of processors in each logical partition where the program is defined (runs) rather than the total number of processors in the machine.

Subcapacity licensing lets you license a product for use on less than the full capacity (in processors) of the machine. WebSphere Application Server — Express V5 for iSeries can, as an option, be licensed for subcapacity if used in an iSeries logical partition and the following additional requirements are met for all machines that you choose to license as subcapacity. Subcapacity license customers must:

  • Agree to configure their iSeries or AS/400 machines using iSeries Navigator to enable the collection of software inventory data every 30 days, or less.
  • Use the Electronic Service Agent™ for iSeries (Service Agent) to send the software inventory to IBM every 30 days, or less. This data is used by IBM to audit for compliance to the license terms and conditions.

Customers who use subcapacity licensing and fail to send software inventory data to IBM may be subject to additional charges.

Software inventory data must be sent to IBM for every iSeries machine that has WebSphere Application Server — Express V5.0 for iSeries licensed under subcapacity terms. You may choose to use iSeries Navigator and Service Agent to collect software inventory from several machines and use Service Agent on a central system to send the data to IBM.

For additional information on iSeries Navigator, visit:

For additional information on the Service Agent, visit:

You can choose to license the eligible products either for full capacity (as in the past) or subcapacity of the machine, depending on your requirements. With subcapacity pricing, the number of processors that need to be licensed is the aggregation of all processors, including partial shares of a processor, across all partitions of a single machine (where the program is defined), rounded up to the next highest whole number.

The licensing and pricing of these products is based on the whole number of processors. On iSeries hardware, processor units are used by the system to size partitions. One processor unit is equal to the size of one dedicated processor. Processor units are not licensed or priced; they are only used to define the size of a partition. For example, if a four-way iSeries machine has WebSphere Application Server V5 for iSeries and WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment V5 for iSeries running in two partitions sized at 0.6 processor units and 0.7 processor units, the total number of processing units is 1.3. Because the product is priced and licensed based on the whole number of processors, this customer would need two processor licenses for WebSphere Application Server — Express for iSeries.

The number of processor units is independent of the number of physical processors running the logical partitions. For example, if you have WebSphere Application Server — Express V5 for iSeries in a partition sized at one processor divided equally across four physical processors of the machine (0.25 processor units of four physical processors), then you have one processor unit and you would need one processor license of WebSphere Application Server — Express for iSeries. If you increase the number of processors in logical partitions running a subcapacity licensed product (by a quantity that makes it round up to a higher whole number), you must acquire additional license entitlements to cover the higher number of processors.

For example, if you have a partition sized at 1.6 processor units, have licensed two processors of WebSphere Application Server — Express V5 for iSeries, and you change the size of the partition (either dynamically or via operator involvement) to 2.6 processor units, then you need to acquire one additional processor license.

Processor Charge Unit for Telephone Directory V5.1

Telephone Directory is only offered under full capacity terms. The price is based on the number of processors in the system executing the Telephone Directory for iSeries.

The Telephone Directory, an iSeries exclusive, is available for media at a nominal processor fee for up to 1,000 entries in the directory. If additional entities are needed, a replacement program can be purchased/customized by IBM Global Services.

User Charge Unit

Intranet Web sites are accessed by your employees and independent contractors, and those of your wholly-owned or majority-owned subsidiaries or a related company.

Intranet users are your employees and independent contractors, and those of your wholly-owned or majority-owned subsidiaries or a related company. A "related company" is any corporation, company, or other entity that:

  • Is controlled by you
  • Controls you
  • Is under common control with you
For this purpose, "control" means that more than 50% of the controlled entity's shares or ownership interest representing the right to make decisions for such entity are owned or controlled directly or indirectly by the controlling entity. An entity is considered to be a related company only so long as such ownership exists.

The Intranet User License Option authorizes you to provide applications on intranet Web sites only.

Developer Charge Unit

The Developer License Option authorizes you to provide applications for unit test purposes only, meaning for testing by the developer of the application only.

IBM Electronic Services

IBM Global Services has transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to put you on the road to higher systems availability. IBM Electronic Services is a Web-enabled solution that provides you with an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support on the IBM eServer™. You should benefit from greater system availability due to faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. IBM Electronic Services comprises two separate but complementary elements: IBM Electronic Services news page and IBM Electronic Service Agent.

IBM Electronic Services news page provides you with a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used by customers to access IBM Internet services and support. By using the news page, it enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems.

The IBM Electronic Service Agent is a no-additional charge software that resides on your IBM eServer system that is designed to proactively monitor events and transmit system inventory information to IBM on a periodic customer-defined timetable. The IBM Electronic Service Agent tracks system inventory, hardware error logs, and performance information. If the server is under a current IBM maintenance service agreement or within the IBM warranty period, the Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to provide proactive service that maintains higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent will be made available to IBM service support representatives when they are helping answer your questions or diagnosing problems.
